      In regards to ram. My x79 was in service until last year (around Aug). It had 64gb of ddr3 1800 (quad channel clocked to 1600 due to stability). It was ok. Having 64gb of ram means things like you can make a ram disk when you need to or your system will buffer disk reads/writes more effectively. It will make a system feel smooth for a long time. It's also handy for virtualization if you need it :)

      Currently on a 5600 and 3060. I noticed on HUB’s scaling video that the 4090 offers barely an improvement over a 6950xt if paired with a 5600. If I were to only upgrade the gpu, would a 4070/6800xt offer much uplift? Or if I should wait until I’m upgrading the whole platform which could be a while away. I game at 1080p 75hz. Sometimes games dip below 60fps despite not running ultra nor ray tracing

    Spain seems to be in the sweet spot of pricing, they have a lot of tech stores available whereas some other countries in the EU don't have as many options. We have to either resort to importing from Germany or other countries, or stick with the overpriced stuff locally, and the supplies are very limited too. A lot of the budget/mid tier items aren't even in stock currently. Thought I'd share, don't mean to disrespect or anything! I think most people in Europe do not know that U.S. prices do not have VAT included. It is just nothing you come across in the EU.
    Not knowing prices exluded tax, I used to think tech prices were significantly lower in the U.S.
    Right now I am under the impression that the prices, at least here in Germany, are either competitive or a good bit lower.
    Would be interesting to know why though. One big thing that comes to mind is that it is still very unusual to take up debt for buying tech items. That makes customers more hesitant to buy and might be forcing retail to make prices more attractive.

    I'm already planning my final build for a while, as i have like 10 PCs in my fleet 😅 I'm kinda forced to stay on AM4 because of the motherboard i bought, and i really don't want to deal with the hassle of selling it. I'm practically going all the way here- high fps 1440p. CPU I'm thinking 5800X3D; still debating on a cooler... may go AIO but i don't know...GPU: maybe 7900XT? I kinda want to see what the 7800 will be like, assuming it comes out. RAM, I'm going with 3600 CL16. Tentatively setting a budget of $1440, but my birthday is in about a month and a half, so i might get a boost.
    Sorry for the ramble... 😅

      7800XT is probably too expensive at first, better to go RTX4070, you don't need the 16GB. Definitely wait for the announcement soon at gamescon. 5800X3D is a good choice, and so is the 5600X3D, for AM4.

    I have started recommending SSD heatsinks in cases where the motherboard does not come with one. This is especially true for content creators/video editors which is the first use case in boost my build. The SSDs quickly heat up and thermal throttle. It's not a big concern for gamers where it's random read/write. With aftermarket SSD heatsinks being so cheap less than $10. It's worth it.

    • @wolfwilkopter2231
      @wolfwilkopter2231 Год назад +1

      Even if they come with some, the more affordable boards often just come with a chunk of more or less flat metal and a thermal pad that is almost not even worth being called that.
      They are good for dragging some initial heat out, but then getting stuck as they are bad at dissipating it and are often so flat to the board and on top of that right above or even completely covered by GPUs, that they are without any airflow worth mentioning or rightaway sit in a hotbox.
      They help a little tho, but you can still get them to throttle at some points with them.
      Thats why i switched the top on on my X570 Aorus Pro to a "Acidalie M.2 SSD heatsink with Double Layer Aluminum and 4 Copper Heat Pipes Cooler for M.2 SSD 2280[Black]" for about 20bucks, which dropped temps harshly and holds them consistently much lower and also reaches a bit deeper into the cases (H500M) airflow.
      (990Pro 2TB had up to 65°C on the NAND and 75°C on the controller, now its in the low 50s at worst and mostly, if not under full load for long or in benchmarks, its comfortably in the 40s)
      A good and a little flatter, maybe more aesthetically pleasing alternative is the Sabrent M.2 Cooler (Model SB-HTSK) for also just about 20Bucks and it'll perform almost as good as the Acidalie one.
      The second one under the GPU got switched to the Be Quiet! MC1 for just 12bucks as the MC1 Pro (about 15bucks) was just a tad to high to fit under biggus chungus RTX3080 Aorus Master 12Gig with all that shroud around, but that still cut about 10°C of my 4TB Lexar NM790 compared to the standard chunk of flat metal.
      Also on most of them, you dont even need to change the included pads, as they perform very well.
      If you dont get really good ones, you could even lose performance with replacement pads.

    • @Iridiumcosmos
      @Iridiumcosmos Год назад

      This is also why I love cases like the O11D series. Having a bottom set of intake fans really helps my second SSD stay below 50 degrees C. And that’s with the motherboard SSD heatsink that came with my mobo.

    • @wolfwilkopter2231
      @wolfwilkopter2231 Год назад

      @@Iridiumcosmos
      Yeah that is indeed an advantage, as long the GPU isnt to fat and gets to hot, so that the air can actually get behind and out again.^^
      With an 80°C 420Watt max Heat Monster like my 4Slot GPU even the bottom fans woul've had a hard time getting this NVME cooled, when hot air is being blasted at it.
      And i have to make a correction, i redid the MC1 Pro with a little more pressure, to fit it to the "singlesided" notches for the screws and it worked! :)
      Not *much* of a difference, but a difference no less.
      Now she idles at about the same temps as the GPU with 45-50°C on the Nand and 40-45 on the Controller, while being completely covered in a hot box.
      Phanteks NV7 looks interesting tho...especially with their new D30 Fans...30mill thicc 170m³/h Airflow and a goddarn 7.something mm H2O Pressure... and thats just the 120mill, no 140's yet. 🤩
      But for now, my H500M will do..^^

The SE - Second Edition - model comes with 4 ARGB fans and a fan controller preinstalled even at a budget case price at $59 USD. They continue to make improvements on this model - most recently, they changed to standard thumbscrews for the glass side panel (abandoning the prior grommeted versions). Just make sure to check the GPU length clearance, as this is a somewhat small case. Note: Probably not the case to use if going with an AIO.

    *on power*
    Just FYI, but with an R9-3900x + RTX4070 system I use usually no more than 325 Watts when gaming. I do recommend at least 50% extra for spikes on the Graphics card (calculated based on graphics card power draw not total system), AND I recommend looking at the FAN PROFILE to see where the fans ramp up (can be hard to find depending on the PSU model). My rule-of-thumb is aim for a PSU where you draw about 60% of the power. In my case that would be roughly 550W but due to the difference in PRICE for considering QUALITY models of PSU I just went with a quality 750W. So I don't ever hear the fan. Some PSU's you can hear the fan even though it's barely drawing power so don't cheap out and do a little research.

    Hi Jason, just a quick reminder for your B450 upgrade recommendation - B450 has one m.2 nvme and one m.2 SATA slot. B550 boards had one gen 3 and one gen 4 nvme. So while the owner might have a free slot on their B450 , it's kinda hard to find m.2 SATA drives now so it'd be a case of upgrading the existing nvme drive and maybe adding a 2.5" SATA SSD to replace the hard drive?

      @SupremeDP Год назад

      @@daurinalvarez5302 It depends:
      Do you play high-FPS competitive games, or single-player high-settings games?
      If you play competitively and want 120+ FPS at 1080p, upgrade the CPU. The 7600 will be able to push way more frames for you (you do need a monitor that'd show them too, if you don't have it)... But you will have to upgrade the motherboard too. GPU upgrade wouldn't do anything for you here, since you'll be mostly CPU limited.
      If you play single-player though, and want to be able to up the resolution and quality settings in games, upgrade your GPU. Thing is, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to less than an rx 6800 or a 4070. Anything less and the difference you'd feel would not be worth your money, so you'd be better off waiting for the RX 7700 or 7800 to release AND drop in price, or for the 4070 to drop to at least $500 (that's gonna be a long while.)
      Upgrading the CPU if you play single-player titles would be pointless as well. You might reduce some stuttering, and might be able to increase like... The amount of NPCs, perhaps... But your GPU is most likely the main limiting factor there.

With that budget you still have a pretty wide range of case choices. Now of couse for the high end budget builds you don't care about spending way over 28 dollars on computer case. It's just very interesting how some of the components are way more expensive in us than in china, and some other components like gpu is the other way around.😂

I bought 3 different rams I fist bought the Gskill ram ddr4 16gb 3600 cl6 only one stick got to 3600mhz I tried disabling the XMP nothing. I returned those and got a different ram same thing 3600mhz cl6 same exact problem, I reutuned those. I was not going to give up, I tried one more set of ram same thing. I was going off of what it said on the Amazon wedsite at first. Then I really stated to do my home work this board only goes to 3200nhz which is weird. I needed to vent that out.
    my specs PSU I went with a 800 watts Apevia because of the deal it had at the time. GPU: RX6750XT I stuck witht he ram ddr4 3200mhz cl16 32gb CPU I still have the Ryzen 5 2600 I a, crossed between going to Micro Center and just go get the Ryzen 5 5600 and get a Mobo too just revamp the entie PC. But the dilemma is if I switch the board I might as well go DDR5 AM5 it would make sense. What is you guys opinion especially Jason....Also, I went with 2tb NVME

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  Год назад +1

      With the Ryzen 2600 it is unlikely you'll get DDR4 3600 CL16 (or really any 3600 RAM) to run due to limitations on the CPU's memory controller rather than the board. Could be a trace issue on the board, could be that with a better sampled 2600 it would work, but clearly it isn't going to. 3200 CL16 will be fine at 1440p. I'd try switching just the CPU first, remember to update the board's bios before you remove the 2600. Also use DDU uninstaller to remove the CPU chipset just before you shut it down for the last time (use the "remove and shut down option"). See how that goes. Hope that helps!

I am told they play roadblocks and mind craft at this point. I need this a cheap as I can build. The PX248 (119usd version) looks good enough for them. Thier much older brother plays simulators at 1080p with the 3060 12GB.

      Check out our $600 1440p build from our Best build July video as that will give great performance. I don't think you're missing anything by going PCIE gen 3 and in fact saving a lot of money that can be used on the GPU instead.

    When you go with an aftermarket cooler, shouldn't you also add on the $8-$10 of thermal paste? Or do those things come with some included?

    Very glad and surprised you took a look at the Spanish market! Would it be worth to downgrade from the 6800 to the 6700xt for a 135€ discount? It would make easier to upgrade the monitor because honestly, 27 inch 1080p VA panel doesn't sound like a good match to a high fps 1440p system. Selling the old CPU, GPU and monitor for 150€, adding the 135€ saved on the GPU would let him get an Asus Tuf VG27AQ which is a good 1440p IPS monitor.

    Im binge watching all of the series cause my upgrade is finally around the corner (about one month). This will be my second build ever and the first was a 700€ budget build 5 or so years ago still with a RX 580 installed. Now with a job and therefore money in hand im planing to upgrade to a high end amd build with a 7900xtx and a 7800x3d at around 2000-2500€ while i do have some knowledge im deff not the best so if you or someone from the community could look over the list and possibly fix some issues that would be awesome. If it helps im going for a black design with the wood fom the fractal north case and basically no rgb exept maby the fans i have rn. And im locatet in germany if thats important. All help is appreciated (ill put the link in when im back on my pc)

      If you have a b350 motherboard you could drop in a 5800X3D if the VRMs can handle it. Otherwise you are looking at a new build.

      😳😳😳 didn’t know that I have the gygabite GA AB350 gaming 3 fully updated. Built this one originally with a RX580 and then around 2 years ago updated to a 3070. I was doing se research (including your videos) well I’m not sure if I should build a new one this year or perhaps go with a 4080… but for sure my R7 1700 will bottleneck it

    I have a 10yo gigabyte MB 16gig ram {max allowed} 2TB SSD, i7 intel but only a 740 GPU with 2gig. as a content creator I can view 4k files ok on the 4K monitor but playing them without proxying them in Videostudeo is a nightmare. Is it just the GPU or would I have to upgrade? regards Tony Australia

    • @Zxanonblade
      @Zxanonblade Год назад +1

      Probably both the cpu and gpu really. Since your MB is 10 years old, that makes both the cpu and gpu pretty dated (same with the ram). Even a basic laptop with only integrated graphics will work better (it's what I use with video editing) so it's probably time for you to upgrade.

    I'm encountering an unusual problem while gaming. Despite disabling notifications, I'm hearing the notification sound randomly. Strangely, when this happens, if I press any movement key like W, A, S, or D and then remove my finger from the button, my character continues to move on its own. How can I troubleshoot and resolve this perplexing issue?
