You won't believe this man. I wanted to build my first ever PC for light blender work and 1440p 170hz gaming at about $1,500. So I started bingeing your videos this week. What I mean is that, every quarter of the year, there's a best CPU-GPU combo for the budget, value, productivity and high-end use cases and the builds are pretty much the same. EG, the optimal sweet spot right now seems to be around $1500 and that yields a given build. But if someone says "I got 1600" then Jason will make a slightly different build. Your vids have been SO helpful for me, Jason. I went with the 7800xt when I saw it for 500$ it was too good for me to pass up. I didn't technically need an upgrade. cuz I don't do serious gaming, and my 5700XT was doing fine. Its cheaper and performs better than the 4070. You'd have to have a real good reason to go with the 4070 still being 50$ more and getting worse FPS. Then I did a drop in upgrade for my Old x370 ryzen 7 1700, and got the 5800x3d being the best gaming CPU for the AM4 board. so Ill be good for another 3 years.
Jason you are always positive about the content you present. I've found myself on other channels were the whole point about the video is not to find solutions but to stir the pot and gain subscribers. Thank you Jason! Hope you are here for a long time.
I particularly liked two comments that you made. In the first build, it was about the different effect of cache designs on the SSDs. In the second build, it was about the video export boost that you get from the integrated graphics on Intel CPUs. These are both technical tidbits that would never come up on other channels. The devil is in the details and you've got them. Nice work, Jason.
Hi! Even though you probably won’t see the comment I just wanted to say that your content helped me so much when I was building my pc (it was the first time I touched pc components). I finished it 2 days ago and I’m super happy with the results. It helped me choosing the right pieces and build it (even though picking the pieces I wanted took over 50h of reviews and everything else and building it took me around 8 hours). If it weren’t for you I probably wouldn’t even have the pieces ready or even started the pc. Thank you very much
Thank you for the creator build! I'm building almost the exact same rig right now; 13600k, 32gb ddr5 ram, and on the fence between 4070 and 7800xt. Glad to see you share positive opinions about those parts in that price range.
Thank you Jason, I had thought my build was perfect minus the AIO and case, I really didn't expect such a great breakdown. You definitely boosted my build, I'm looking forward to building it and I'll definitely take the 7800xt instead of the 4070. Thanks again.
Awsome info PC builder. I was glad I decided to geek out a bit last night. I went out and got everything I wanted today. ryzen 5 7600, 7800xt, 32 gig 6000mhz ddr5 and all the fixems. If I hadn't I probably would have walked out with one of those 1000$ laptops and that would have been fine, they are great and I'd have been happy. But today I am exctatic. Thank you for you best combo video, and this one for smart shopping.
For the first build, Jason saved the day. What a game changer. For the second, I would have placed the 7800XT as primary and 4070 as option. Other than that, optimized for that budget. Expensive case though, but pretty= 🤑
The thing is the 7800xt is sold out pretty much on every platform, he said it on the video, only the high end cards are available and they are more expensive not fitting in the budget
You can still order it. The retailer clearly let's you order it without issues. There's no excuse to place and order and have them ship it when its available. @@handrew.dasilva
DF 700 Flux also has a 5th fan at the bottom pointed at the GPU! Picked up this case a couple months ago and can’t stop doing propaganda for it! It’s just awesome- 5 included fans, sweet wavy front panel, included RGB hub, truly a spectacular case!
I bought a 4000d case for my daughter's build and a fractal pop air case for my son. I loved the pop air so much more. Looks amazing in blue, included fans are nice, changing the color of the fans is a button press so my kid can change the colors himself and building in it was way more fun. Back when I bought them they were about the same in price too.
Great video, Jason and team! I'm glad you called out that MSI B550 'Gen 3' board. It keeps popping up as a recommended deal in my email, but I can't see how it isn't either a typo or a scam.
The reason it is PCIE gen 3 only despite have a B550 chipset is because the board itself is a recycled B450 and the lanes on the board will only support Gen3 despite the CPU and Chipset supporting Gen 4. But doing this allows MSI to sell their overstock of B450 PCB as a B550 which is terrible.
On the second build, since he mentioned starfield, note that the 7800xt comes with a free copy of the 99.99$ premium version. He/She could factor this into the price.
It seems like you invest an insane amount of time for researching information for your videos, just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work! :)
13600K is good unless you live near a Micro-Center and can take advantage of the 12900K Bundle. Just note though the 14600K should be coming out sometime this fall though we don't know price or performance yet.
@@kelley09162 and is that a bundle with a motherboard? Ill have to check it out, also I dont have much time to wait around for a new release as my current pc is already slowing down my production and since I need it for work I’m fine with getting some of the earlier gens
Thank you Jason for your videos, its great to see other builds being upgraded and it makes me think about to price my build in a whole new way with the alternatives mentioned.
i was thinking of just upgrading my system. in following Jason and his team... technology jumps so fast i'm thinking a complete build, still just might send in what i got and go from there! keep up the great work!!
Really liked the boost of the first build. It was a bit of a tricky one, I'm sure he was pretty satisfied but if you're not really into it you wouldn't see the flaws. Usually the other builds are really lacking and more obvious to upgrade. Great video, as usual Jason 👌
I'm always glad to hear you call out how important the monitors are to a PC build. I think they get overlooked during the process and whenever a friend/coworker has mentioned wanting to build a PC I always tell them to start with the monitor. A 4k monitor build and a high fps 1080 monitor build are gonna look pretty different.
I agree. Choose a display with specs that get you where you want to be, and build a system to drive it. The Asus monitor from the first build is actually a very good display for what it is. My first gaming build used essentially the same unit, and I now have three of them, but they serve in very utilitarian roles. If the builder's goal was to get going and start saving for a better display then relegate the Asus to a secondary role, then it's a good choice.
Hey Jason, i’m new to pc gaming and i just ordered my new pc a few days ago, went with a mid tower atx build with a ryzen 7600 and radeon 7800xt. Do you think they’d work together well for high fps 1440p?
man, at some point i made the same mistake the first guy was going to make, and bought an rtx 3060 while there was an rx 6700 xt on sale at the same store for little more. boy, did i regret that choice. dude, the first guy is very lucky to have your help, to avoid wasting cash on the rtx 3060 when he could get an rx 6700 xt as i did.

I replaced my Gen3 OS NVME and main game storage NVME with two gen4 Western Digital SN850x 1Tb($56) for OS and 2TB($80) on game storage. Prices are NVME storage is super cheap from budget to performance models. If you need NVME storage or have been considering upgrading from HD or SSD. Now is the time.
Jason, have you seen the comments on the 7700X in Microcenter? Price looks great but I would like to hear your thoughts on the board and the RAM in the combo
I think I'm good until Ryzen 8000/Beast lake. Mostly gaming 12700KF 7900XTX. I have enough spare nvmes for another build, cases, psus, ddr4 around etc but don't need another one yet. Have the spare pcs on HTPC duties. Mostly WoW, Baldur's Gate 3, some Diablo 4 from time to time. Think I'm good for 1440P only time I think about upgrading is raiding but it's always been that way, perfectly playable.
Hey Jason, final stepping into the Desktop world. been on a G14 laptop for the past 3 years now, and needing an upgrade for Blender and gaming. I use a 1440x3440 widescreen monitor, and I'm looking for best performance possible with a budget of $2000 AUD (welcome to go over by 100 if needed) (~$1300US). I'm looking for white no RGB style, not priority but would be lovely. I've already selected the case to be a Asus Prime AP201 and don't want to change as its size fits my setup perfectly. Thanks a lot!

I can't have a mechanical keyboard, as the rooms in my house are like echo chambers. The sound would be amplified even with the sound deflectors in my room. I do not wish to disturb my room mates as we sleep and go to work and game at different times.
Great adjustments to those builds. I'm not sure if i agree with the mini-atx case. When it comes to cases here is how i did it, maybe it helps someone else: If your pc is stationary for most of its time and you have the room for it, get a big tower with enough fanslots and spaces for drives and be done with it. I've bought my case like 11 years ago. That thing housed 3 builds and different kinds of upgrades over the years. Saves some money over the years.
Wow I was blown away when you showed that motherboard b550 gaming gen3. I have a b450 tomahawk that I bought years ago, and it has the same layout. Not only is it PCIe gen 3, it only has one nvme SSD slot. So if you want more than one SSD you're going to have to get a 2.5 inch drive. How the hell do you get only one SSD slot on a ATX motherboard in 2023? You also did that first PC builder a favour telling to forget that 21 inch monitor. I bought a terrible monitor by mistake two years ago. It's 27 inch but it's a TN 60hz panel and paid way too much for it. I also really liked how you gave two options for GPUs on the creator PC build. Really depends on what programs they use which is better. I'm bias for team red but maybe Nvidia will suit their needs more.
19:12 I wouldn't get the RM8 series, RMX is way better because I had an rm850e (2023) and the fan is rubbish! I returned it and got an rm850x (2021) and the fan was way quieter and also doesn't turn on untill much higher load than the e
So question. Stuck in the past and plan on getting a r7 5800x cause dream setup if not the 5800x 3d. But currently 5600x and a rtx 2070, wanting to upgrade my gpu. Could I upgrade to a 3070 without bottlenecking majorly? Very slight bottle neck is fine for cpu intensive games as I plan on upgrading but would it be worth it to get a 3070? Or would it be better to get a 3060ti for cheap? Using used market not really buying a new gpu. I'll buy a new cpu cause cpu.
I just picked up the Gigabyte 7800xt, been loving it so far. Currently am on AM4 with a 5600x. Once we start getting closer to Black Friday, I plan on making a trip to Microcenter (hour and a half away) to grab an AM5 bundle. Currently they have a B650, 7700x, 32 GB DDR5 combo for 400$ which is an absolute monster of a deal, but I bet it can get even better in a month or so.
how is your performance of the GPU, what will you recommend 6950xt or 7800xt. currently i have rx 580 paired with 5800x3d so i will upgrade to one of these gpus, Thanks for your help and response❤
@@ARSONIST0010 The 6950xt is more powerful than the 7800xt, however, the 6950xt requires more power, and isn't going to have the new generation GPU features that the 7800xt will have. Plus its 100 dollars or more than the 7800xt. But I'm happy with the performance as well as the power and cooling efficiency, especially for 500 bucks.
Over the summer, I picked up an Acer 23.5" monitor to add to my really old (12 years!) LG monitor. Granted, the Acer monitor is definitely not the greatest... it is 1080p, but it's only 100 Hz, and only HDMI for an input. (or VGA if you're old school) However, I only paid $80 for it. I would not recommend it as a primary monitor, but it can make for a great secondary or trinary monitor though.
As someone with a 3060 12gb I regret buying it. The 12gb is never used, the closer you get to using 12gb the less computing the Gpu can handle. Looking to sell this and put some more money in for a 4070 (mainly for the 200W power draw ceiling)
Yes the 3060 is not terribly fast, slightly slower than the RX 6650 XT. The 12GB will come into effect in the next year or two with more new releases, but it's tough when you could get a 6700 XT for $50 more that is nearly 2x as fast.
I have the same card. for my use case on 1080p 75hz, it seems to work fine. it uses around 7.5-8.5gb vram in D4 on ultra textures for me. I'm assuming you run a higher refresh monitor or tring to run a more demanding game like Starfield if you're running into performance inssues.
@@Friddle it's very game/ game engine dependent and handling large texture files is getting improved. But I do understand and have seen the 3060 just stop using its bandwidth cause the cores just can't process enough to saturate it even in some memory dependent tasks like AI modeling. It would be a very interesting card to try to jail break now that it's possible.
Hey Jason, Nice video, You are always mentioning that we should get a DAC, and go with budget motherboards and do not overspend for that onboard audio , but you have never made a video about which are the BEST DAC's to get, can you do a video to help us get a DAC I have no idea what to pick and that's new to me Thanks :)
Quick question I currently have a i5-13600KF with 32 Gigs of DDR 4 3600Mhz RAM and im looking to get a new GPU, The problem is that im not sure what to get I can't decide between RX 6800XT it's 525 Euro where I live Rx 7800 XT is around 625 Euro or should I buy something else ? Thanks for the help !
RX 6800XT performs basically the same as 7800XT according to Gamer's Nexus and Hardware Unboxed benchmarks, only go with the 7800XT if it somehow gets cheaper or you're a creator and need the new things AMD has been focusing on with the 7000 series.
what do you think about the 'asus tuf b550m-e wifi', i see alot of good reviews about the asus tuf b550m-plus but that is way more expensive so is it almost the same or are there alot of differences?
The issue with the 7800xt is that I am not aware of any that are less than 50mm wide. There are a lot of cases, especially ITX that can't handle such a wide card.
Is that 7700 AMD bundle good cuz the reviews on it say The ram is bad and I don't know should I get it or should I just go with another just buying a amd cpu 7600x with the tomahawk
The ram is mid but for the cost the bundle is great... you could sell the ram and buy a faster kit... same with the mobo if you need something different for whatever reason. I wish I lived near a Microcenter 😂
On that second build, I would have went Intel Arc A770, seeing as for production, a 13th gen CPU and ARC work so well together for rendering and encoding. Would have saved a couple hundred bucks too.
The problem with Arc is just that we don't know if Intel will do a 2nd gen or not. I agree that Arc would be perfect for the build but I feel it's best to wait until Intel at least announces that a 2nd gen (battlemage probably) actually exists and will release. Would suck to buy an Arc gpu and then a few days later Intel announces they're discontinuing it lol
I must say, I love these videos--and I like this one in particular, since I'm rebuilding what was my old "day-to-day" computer (Intel 4890, Nvidia 1660, and 16gb of RAM) into something that can do a bit more in the way of occasional video editing and website maintenence (AMD 5700x, Nvidia 3060 ti, and 16 gb of RAM--yeah, yeah, only 8gb of VRAM, but it'll mostly be just for surfing, and very occasionally play VERY old video games, like Need For Speed 2). Mind, I won't be doing much more in the way of upgrades right away, since I recently built a killer gaming rig for gaming, and especially VR play (78003xd with a 4090 and 32 gigs of RAM), but I definitely saw some future upgrades I can think about making in the next year, should I find myself creating more, and more complicated, videos than I'm currently expecting to do. Great information as always, Jason; give Mr. Bear a hug for me! ❤

I've been watching your videos for months now as I prepare to build the first PC I've done in about 10 years. I am hoping you'll make a video in November around black friday and the various deals that go on then. I'm looking to make a gaming PC for 1440 and use the 7800 xt (or maybe the 4070). You made a video over the summer for the amazon/newegg deals day and a similar one for black friday would be perfect and immensely helpful.

I really feel like the 12600k is kinda holding back the 7900xt a bit evem though its technically fine in 99.9% of things i use it for. I just have that " itch " again. So what cpu should i get without having to really switch to much?
That shouldn't be the case. I know my motherboard maker even lists the 7800X3D as being bootable even on early unsupported BIOS versions. Some board probably won't post but that's it. You flash the latest BIOS through flash back and then they work.
Hey Jason, thanks so much. I was just wondering if you had any recommendations for upgrades if I got rid of the windows license. Great video as always.
This is my version of the update to your build without the Windows license. I upped the RAM to 32GB, SSD to 2TB, and got you a higher tier PSU. Hey Jason! I tried finding an answer in one of your vids but can’t seem to do so. I have a 6800 XT and R5 5600. There isn’t too much of a bottleneck, but what would be the cheapest Ryzen AM4 upgrade that would ensure I don’t have a cpu bottlneck at 1440p?
You could pair the 6800XT with a 7600! As far as price goes, keep an eye out for black friday deals coming soon! Also check out our 7600 Build Guide video for more.
Can someone explain to me why so many people think buying cheap cdkeys for windows 11 is bad? Like I get the ebay shared license thing was wrong. But these are real legit retail keys for like 20-30 bucks. Why is that considered a "grey" key?
I wholeheartedly agree with the AMD RX 6700xt. Its a very solid 1440p card. I just hope the cheaper psu works out. I learned the hard way years ago, get a good psu. Had the same Corsair HX850 for 10+ years now.
I've noticed that Jason often forgets to link items that he says are linked in the video description. He didn't link the alternate case for the $1500 PC Build.
wouldnt the 13700k make a reasonable difference in Productivity? i plan on building a pc in the near future and since i will never upgrade my PC ( except for storage GPU and maybe RAM) im thinking of getting 8 Cores for more Future proof. im not sure tho. im doing gaming, gaming recording, video editing (just hobby) a lot of Handbrake. and maybe a bit blender or AI in the future. im still not sure if 13600k or 13700k ? and the 14XXX series doesnt come for desktop PCs right? because you said maybe he wants to wait for the 14600k ? im a bit confused.

Thank you Jason, I had thought my build was perfect minus the AIO and case, I really didn't expect such a great breakdown. You definitely boosted my build, I'm looking forward to building it and I'll definitely take the 7800xt instead of the 4070. Thanks again.
You're very welcome! This is why we love BMB--to help you out :)) Good luck with the build!!

Loved the slow zoom in for the rant about crummy monitors! lol.
Thank you for watching! So glad you found these videos helpful! :D
For the first build, Jason saved the day. What a game changer. For the second, I would have placed the 7800XT as primary and 4070 as option. Other than that, optimized for that budget. Expensive case though, but pretty= 🤑
Blender wants a nVidia card though, almost no way around it.
@@handrew.dasilva They are the same price as the 4070 though....the ones that are sold out are the cheaper ones.
I’m an Nvidia kinda gal but the 7800xt looks like a really good deal atleast compared to everything else
It's very compelling especially with 16GB of VRAM.
Amd is amazing. It's a shame more people don't try them out
If fsr3 takes off it could be the best (or 2nd best if you include the 4090) of this generation
I think you mean the 7900xtx
Awesome video. I always get my advice from watching these videos. I enjoy it so much
DF 700 Flux also has a 5th fan at the bottom pointed at the GPU! Picked up this case a couple months ago and can’t stop doing propaganda for it! It’s just awesome- 5 included fans, sweet wavy front panel, included RGB hub, truly a spectacular case!
I understand what's a gaming mouse and monitor. But I never get my head around gaming keyboard and gaming chair
The Pop Air is the case I plan on getting! Really love the pattern of the mesh on the front.
@@PCBuilderChannel So they are basically marketing an H series board as a B550. MSI doing MSI things I guess.
On the second build, since he mentioned starfield, note that the 7800xt comes with a free copy of the 99.99$ premium version. He/She could factor this into the price.
Yes! I wasn't sure if this would come out before the end of the month when I recorded so I didn't mention it as it ends tonight Sept 30th.
Certainly could. Starfield ran well on 7900XTX also had premium edition(played briefly at launch). If buying it anyway, it's a decent deal.
It seems like you invest an insane amount of time for researching information for your videos, just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work! :)
You're very welcome, glad it's proving fruitful for you! Thanks for watching :)
So im also looking for a production type pc build, should I go with the i5 13600k or would the i9 12900k be better?
13600K is good unless you live near a Micro-Center and can take advantage of the 12900K Bundle.
Just note though the 14600K should be coming out sometime this fall though we don't know price or performance yet.

Really liked the boost of the first build. It was a bit of a tricky one, I'm sure he was pretty satisfied but if you're not really into it you wouldn't see the flaws. Usually the other builds are really lacking and more obvious to upgrade. Great video, as usual Jason 👌
Glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for watching :)

I replaced my Gen3 OS NVME and main game storage NVME with two gen4 Western Digital SN850x 1Tb($56) for OS and 2TB($80) on game storage.
Prices are NVME storage is super cheap from budget to performance models. If you need NVME storage or have been considering upgrading from HD or SSD. Now is the time.
I'm spending way too much money preordering Rasberry Pi 5s this weekend.
Thank you @PCBulderChannel. I listen to you and weigh my options for making my own PC.
Hey Jason, what do you think of the new Fsr 3? Maybe gonna make Gpus live longer life span?
Built my own mechanical keyboard recently. Very cool to see you talking about keyboards!
I think the must keep case one means he already has it and would reuse it so you could take that off the cost?
We need a microcenter in Orlando so bad! Best buy isn't cutting it and they removed tiger direct stores.

I just picked up the Gigabyte 7800xt, been loving it so far. Currently am on AM4 with a 5600x. how is your performance of the GPU, what will you recommend 6950xt or 7800xt. currently i have rx 580 paired with 5800x3d so i will upgrade to one of these gpus, Thanks for your help and response❤
@@ARSONIST0010 The 6950xt is more powerful than the 7800xt, however, the 6950xt requires more power, and isn't going to have the new generation GPU features that the 7800xt will have.
I thank you a lot for the productivity focuserd build, I would love to see a 100$ budget build in the future on that regard!
Glad you enjoyed!
Why do you say that DDR 5 6000mhz is slow on the ryzen 7600 on the creator built? I thought that 6000 mhz is the sweet spot on a ryzen 7(7800x3d)?
As someone with a 3060 12gb I regret buying it.
The 12gb is never used, the closer you get to using 12gb the less computing the Gpu can handle.
Looking to sell this and put some more money in for a 4070 (mainly for the 200W power draw ceiling)
The 12gb can be helpful in 1080p Ultra situations.
Yes the 3060 is not terribly fast, slightly slower than the RX 6650 XT. The 12GB will come into effect in the next year or two with more new releases, but it's tough when you could get a 6700 XT for $50 more that is nearly 2x as fast.
@@SpoonHurler Even then I struggle to get over 8gb usage without running into the computing limit of the card.
Hey Jason, Nice video, You are always mentioning that we should get a DAC, and go with budget motherboards and do not overspend for that onboard audio , but you have never made a video about which are the BEST DAC's to get, can you do a video to help us get a DAC I have no idea what to pick and that's new to me

Uhh... Yeah, cool video, great info, love the presentation but, Where is out-of-focus cat at?
Thanks so much! The cat appreciates your concern and promises a return :)
The Fractal Pop Air is a great white case, too.
It's decent, but not for me. I was in love with the Thermaltake ceres 500 since it was introduced at CES.
RAM isn't bad, just a touch slower at 6000 CL36. But if you add it all up it's an insane value even if you threw the RAM away.
The ram is mid but for the cost the bundle is great... you could sell the ram and buy a faster kit... same with the mobo if you need something different for whatever reason. I wish I lived near a Microcenter 😂

11:16 I recommend the Montech Air 100 more as it has 4 ARGB instead of 3 LED fans, and I also like the way it looks better. Both are $60 right now
On that second build, I would have went Intel Arc A770, seeing as for production, a 13th gen CPU and ARC work so well together for rendering and encoding.
I can't do the Arc series, I need stability.

7800XD - someone suggested that you MUST prebios load you MB for the tyhis cpu or you can blow it? tnx!
That shouldn't be the case. I know my motherboard maker even lists the 7800X3D as being bootable even on early unsupported BIOS versions. Some board probably won't post but that's it. You flash the latest BIOS through flash back and then they work.

This is my version of the update to your build without the Windows license.
I upped the RAM to 32GB, SSD to 2TB, and got you a higher tier PSU.
I also switched the version of 6700 XT as the Sapphire has a little better reviews, Monitor and Keyboard because the ones Jason chose went up in price and Mouse because it's a good one for a little less than the Logitech though the Logitech is good if you prefer a wireless mouse.

Looks like I'm upgrading my 6600xt to a 7800xt. 6600xt somehow has managed to get me 50-60fps in Starfield at medium settings in 1440p but it's time has come.
Is the 12400f and rx 6750 xt still a good combo?
Yes good combo
