However, everything I've been finding on the 5800X3D is that it is slaying everything in terms of gaming performance. If it were me, I'd spring the extra for the X3D. With the 3090 you've got an easy upgrade path to solid 4K performance and the X3D/3090 combo would rock, especially with the savings you've got in the GPU and PSU already.

    Would a 5600x go good with a amd 6650 or 6750?

  • @jigarpatel1978
    @jigarpatel1978 2 года назад +1

    are you referring to SAM (smart access memory) when you say you wouldve gone with the ryzen 5600 instead? so amd cpu and amd gpu combo would be faster than i3 with amd gpu in that scenario? or is the 5600 just faster in general? faster in general and additionally faster with SAM? I was thinking the i3 12100 with a amd 6650xt or 6700xt but i did not take think about the 5600 performance and SAM etc. i was also considering a intel cpu with 3060 ti for the better DLSS compared to fsr , ray tracing ability (though admittedly not as useful at this target performance level), and that nvidia will start using the nvidia gpu to improve youtube videos on edge and chrome (3000 and 4000 series, they said it at CES). I have time to wait some months before i buy anything if thats the best. this is my first build. watching tens of hours of video over the last couple years ha but never got as close to building as i am now. i am planning on buying used, and my budget is around 700 dollars, maybe 750 or more if really worth it. i have a 4k 60 hz monitor. i am not sure whether it supports 1440p resolution but that is my target. I am gaming, browsing the web only. I have the budget for a 4-5k system in the future but I just want to dip my feet and wait some years before ddr5 and pcie 5 advance. Any advice on which way you might go? your insight would be appreciated! i recently subscribed since i like the way you consolidate information and teach real world application with that information. btw what a great deal on that 6750 xt and psu, i cant find it anymore :( but good to know there are deals here and there

      @@CyberneticArgumentCreator surely someone could make a database that generally matches components based on workload at least. • @paradigmshift7541

      are the differences between these three uses cases the reason why he suggested getting better faster ram for 1080p, and suggested staying at worse slower ram for 1440p? this was around @ 23:48 he suggested this and it confused me why he would say to get faster ram for a lower resolution 1080p. Seems to me like 1440p would be need better ram because it's higher resolution than 1080p.

    • @17-.
      @17-. 2 года назад

      @@paradigmshift7541 I'm not an expert but my understanding is that in general, your CPU is going to be doing more work when your frames are higher. That's because the GPU is supposedly not doing as much work and you're getting "bottlenecked" by the CPU. Of course this is super dependent on the use case. Typically the resolution is going to have the greatest impact on frame rate, hence why 1080p is going to be more CPU-bound than 1440p. If the CPU is the main constraint, faster ram will help out.
      My personal opinion however is that ram speed is mostly not a concern. 3200MHz ram is relatively cheap these days and it's more than enough to get you the performance you want.

    Considering the current situation in the GPU market (especially outside the US) many people would probably be better off buying used.
    It may be worth suggesting both a new and a used GPU option in future builds if a used option is better than what is available new in the current market.
    It may also be worth suggesting used if they're in a country where a certain gpu that would be really good tends to be overpriced.

Stay away from the AM5 socket mobos and the 4000 series gpu s for now (build returns are at an all time high right now). Market prices are about to take fall in favor of the buyers in the market this year within the first to second quarter. Why would a person need to buy better ram for 1080p gaming when it's harder to power 1440p gaming? If 1080p is lower resolution, why would a person need to buy BETTER ram than for 1440p gaming? As a test case, if I get 240fps at 1080p, wouldn't I need to get better ram to achieve the same 240fps at 1440p?

    I saw the Thermalright cooler lineup last year and fell in love with the price to performance. Prices have gone up some, but still I would absolutely use a Peerless Assassin, or any one of a half dozen other good coolers they have. Vetroo does pretty good too with price to performance, but Thermalright is my favorite underapriciated CPU Cooler maker.

      I think its in their technology. GPU fans nowadays don't spin until the GPU goes 60 degrees celsius and above. The fans turn on for 2 seconds because that's when the pc boots up.

      Most modern GPUs have a zero fan speed setting by default so if they don't need the fans they don't turn them on. Jump into a game and see if they spin.

    I wouldn't touch DDR4-3600 on 12th gen Intel locked cpus because the memory controller often can't handle that speed since you can't add any extra voltage on locked cpus. To get around this your board's BIOS will sometimes drop to Gear 2 when you're trying to run 3600 MT/s speeds, which cuts the speed of the memory controller in half and slows you way down. Much better to buy DDR4-3200 which is officially supported so you can just turn on the XMP profile and forget it. Was a pain having to manually tune my DDR4-3600 to DDR4-3200 and set all the timings since my i5-12400F's memory controller could not handle the DDR4-3600 XMP profile of my RAM in Gear 1 without crashing when I stress tested it with 7-zip compressing and decompressing 4-8GB files.

Am I correct in saying that the Focusrite acts as the sound card, bypassing my mobos sound card (assuming I have the driver and am outputting to the focusrite), meaning I don't need to worry about what the mobos quality is in that arena?

    If you really want to light up your build, fans are the best option. You get highlights from RAM or GPU but the fans are where the nice glow comes from. I know white cases are in but a dark case with tinted glass makes the lighting sharp without bathing your desk in light. Most white cases don't have tinted glass. Of course this is all my opinion

    I'm looking to upgrade the 1660 ti I have paired with a i5 9600kf/z390 for only 1080p resolution. From the research I've done for the resolution a 3060 would be about 6% cpu bottleneck, a 2060 super would be a good match with about a 3% cpu bottleneck, or the best pairing I found was a gtx 1080 which had no bottleneck at all with both cpu/gpu utilizing 100% (theoretically). What do you think would be the better choice? I'm leaning toward the 3060 because it would still give me about 93% gpu utilization and I get a newer card, also my i5 is oc'd @5.17ghz.
