We do this series once a month. Next round will open in March. To send in a list make sure you are publicly subscribed to the channel and keep an eye out for our community posts where we call for the lists. We also let people know its time on twitter @pcbuilderjason
For less than the 3050 another option getting better with each update is the arc a750 though that 6650 xt is still better. They keep improving and I hope they can keep going to add to the competition for amd and nvidia. Just need good upper and mid cards.
Man I really wish I waited a bit longer to start buying my parts because the second guy in the video was the exact price range I wanted. I have similar components but I liked that case and motherboard much better :/
That last build really shows how much researching and picking out your parts carefully helps. Almost double the gaming performance for around the same price! Really great video!
Right I was going to get the 4070ti but nah I passed got me a 7900xtx red devil and paired it with a 5800x3d since I had all the other parts already upgraded from a 5700x and a rx6600xt big jump for me
I’m speccing a PC and i found this channel a couple of days ago and it helped me a lot, also we were woken up by the earthquake at 3am here in Beirut and it was a truly horrifying experience even though were like 500km away from the epicenter, I can’t imagine what the people in Turkey experienced. Props to PC Builder for paying it forward.
Hello Jason! I'm super excited to say that after months of planning, and many different PC Part picker lists later, I'm typing this comment from my brand new completed build!!! I seriously want to thank you so much for all these videos you've put out! They were absolutely quintessential on my journey. The passion you have for sharing your knowledge is incredibly wholesome, and you make such complex topics very easily digestible. I could not have done it without your help, so thank you! Even though my build may be complete, I'll be sure to continue watching, as I'm sure I can always continue to learn and grow. Thanks again :)
Hello! Congrats on your build!! That is so exciting. Thank you for the amazing feedback it truly means a lot. Have fun with your new rig and hope you keep enjoying the content!
Thank you so much for the video! It sure helped start our weekend with a bang!! 😸 And thank you for using your channel to spread awareness and help out people affected by the earthquake! Hope you guys have a great weekend ✨:)
I love these series! I built my PC recently and I would love to get your reaction on it, but having watched a few of these videos, I am pretty sure I know where you would "slap me on the wrist" for choosing that specific component. The truth is I got a discount on pretty much every component I bought so I am happy.
I have the AP201 and can say it's a really great case. Great build quality and component compatibility as well as that unique look that has a cool diffusion effect on lighting passing through the "waffle" side panel.
I paired the 4070 with my "old" i7 10700k and i was worried about the cpu bottleneck. At 1440p looks like im 100% safe for the next 2 years. Unfortunately, there's no minimum spec rrequirement on the box I remember the old days where you could read what you need for the GPU.
Nice build on the last computer! I think the prices are kind of crazy as well, but what you said it completely true! He wants a gaming computer, so get a gaming computer! He will have it for many years to come anyways, and $1500 is great for that kind of PC. Good job my friend!
Thanks for teaching us about building a pc and giving tips about tech/parts. I was about to buy a motherboard that wasn't compatible, I'm was very lucky that I saw it sooner in your videos.
Absolutely love these videos Jason, I watch all of them even though I finally built my PC a few months back! Wanna know you're opinion on 1 thing... I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU soon, I have a 3070 currently. Deciding between 4070 Ti, 4080, or 7900 XTX, what do you think I should get? (Currently have a 5800x3d)
I would say either 4070 Ti or 7900 XT. The XTX is expensive right now and while the 4080 is good the 4070 Ti would still be a good upgrade over the 3070.
@@kelley09162 I'm not a huge fan of the XT simply put, if I could find a reference XTX or Founders Edition 4080 for MSRP then I would heavily consider, but I am mainly leaning 4070 Ti currently. I really like the PNY Verto 4070 Ti, but I have a Hyte Y60 case and it would be a tight fit vertically mounted. Likewise, the XTX reference card or 4080 FE are slimmer and would fit better with the side panel on haha
I really love the 3rd Boost my build in this video. Dude's build went from a 3060ti to a 4070ti!! At the SAME cost!!! All that took was to stop spending on the premium Cosair AIO, case and silly white PSU and he got his 4070ti. And I would argue that his build would look better with the white extension cables, the white Thermalright air ARGB cooler, and white Fractal Design POP air case.
I came across 32gb G skill Trident neo for $50 on craigslist jumped on it, threw it in my build found out it was 4000hz. I have a 5800x. I was wondering if there's a Budget, mid, to high-end b550 motherboard and will boost my cpu and ram currently on Asus b550 prime. I saw the B550 taichi went on sale for $189 newegg. I don't know if it's a good match. Please help
I have been following you for like couple months since I am planning to build a gaming/ML production PC. Bro you made me cry with that earthquake support, love from Turkiye!
Hey Jason I'll have you know that I paired A4090 with an Intel 2400K and it's gone absolutely perfect. Rocking with my DDR 3 and 50TB hard drive for games. I'm doing awesome. I see no reason to buy a faster CPU. This quad core 4 thread CPU is dynamite .
I cant agree more with the corsair fans comment. I went with 5 corsair fans in my build not realizing they needed their own ecosystem. The proprietary connectors are a big pain. Will not be purchasing again. Ended up spending a lot more than I had originally wanted, but you live and you learn.
Awesome video as always Jason! I gotta say, super impressed with that last white build, for that same money the upgrade in performance is bonkers. Great stuff, love this show
I enjoy your posts your energy is uplifting. Now I will stick my neck out ... CPU AMD 9 7900X, ASUS X670E ROG Crosshair Extreme (sealed open box $600), G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR 5 6400 (2X32), EVGA GEFORCE 3080 FTW3 Ultra 12 GB (stole this with an open box at $540), Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB Gen 4 (for OS and programs), 2 - Samsung 980 Pro SSD 2TB Gen 4 (storage photos and videos - large 50mb+ raw images, and large video files in raid until edits are finished), 2 - Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, 2 - Seagate IronWolf 10TB 7200 RPM (NAS) ... where did I go wrong (well besides everything ... lol)?
I just made a list for my nephew. His 1st one. Parts are on the way. 3600 without cooler 80 euro Be quiet dark rock 2 fx 50 B550 tomahawk 160 Kingston 240gb ssd 20 1tb nvme kingston 60 2tb hdd barracuda 50 2x8 corsair vengeance rgb 50 6650xt merc 365 750watt cooler master mwe white 70(future proofing for upgrades) Be quiet 500dx and an additional fan 120 I know I could have gone for a 7600 or a 5600, but he had a budget for 1k. I found that 3600 for a steal. And for his 1st pc I think I did an awesome job. Edit. I did a seperate drive for ease of use. Partitioning with your 1st build is sometimes a hassle.
PC at 9:25 The I3-12100 does PCI gen4 the Ryzen 5500 only is Gen3. I have a 5600Gen4 and a 3600gen4 paired with a XFX 5700XT Raw 2 (I have 2). A used 2060 at this PC Price gap would be a great stop gap. My go to case is the Focus G. Yah, it has an acrylic window but thats a good thing with little children that are like a pair of tornados in the family room (were one of the pcs are).
That last build really connected with me, since I built my first PC in Aug-Sept. of 2021 and used a white Corsair/ASUS theme as well. I lucked out by getting that white Corsair 5000D Airflow case, like new, for about $86. Then I proceeded to overspend on the air cooler and CPU, which left me with an overpriced 5-year old GPU until I could afford to upgrade to an open-box 3070Ti. But even so, it could still play some games at 4K, including the original Skyrim, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, and Witcher 3.
I bought the same motherboard too, and $150 is a great deal for it! I paid about $20 to $30 more. Also, I haven't noticed any less performance by using the bottom slot for the GPU, which made room for a Gen 4 NVMe adapter card in the top slot for more m.2 storage.
I got the pop air for my kids build and it's very nice! It was a toss up between the 4000d or the pop air. Got the cyan blue one, added some Asia horse white/blue cables, set rgb to purple blue and It ended up looking great!
Many-many thanks to you for vids like this and rest at the channel. Ended up with these: R5 5600 with ID Cooling 214-XT argb / RX6700XT / 2x8gb 3600mhz cl16 / B550 Asus TUF / 650W from B tier / 1tb NVMe / and some nice case for my liking with 200mm intake and 3 exhaust (2 top and one at rear). $983 for the build. GPU could have been cheaper but prices in Ukraine too weird (always was though), so spent ~$430 - Biostar Extreme gaming OC. Thank you! Greetings from Ukraine✌🏻🇺🇦
This series is a true benefit to the community. I'm constantly amazed how much money gets wasted on these builds. It's also nice to see 1500 budget building a great gaming pc again.
These videos are so good! I wish you had the budget to build your recommendations and show test gaming footage. Proof of your brilliant recommendations. Maybe when you get to a million subscribers this will be a possibility.
Ive been noticing the 6800xt has been going for around $550 vs the 6800 going for around 450 (if you get lucky)-480. would you still recommend the non xt for 1440p ultra/high gaming? I recently put together a build with a 6800, b650/ 7600x (got a combo deal) and was wondering if i should have spent the extra ~$70 for the xt?
Always look forward to getting home from work on Friday and seeing an upload! Great work as always! Love to see the earthquake relief support as well. 👍
That's how you boost a build. Excellent information throughout. On the all white PSU I agree there is no point sine most case have a psu shroud get the extensions and call it a day
Looking to build a 4k pc really the bottleneck I have is my tv is only 60hz. Not sure if I should build a monster 4k pc and upgrade to a high refresh monitor later. Or build high FPS 1440p pc and get a monitor to match now. Trying to keep around 1500ish but I got patience if I gotta save up for more. I’ve never built a PC so I have no idea what a reasonable expectation for the budget would be. Also the Wife would like to be able to do VR. Happy Wife, happy this build might actually be approved by her
Let me start by saying that i love your videos, great job Jason! Now... the only doubt i have is with the 192 bit bus of the 4070ti for playing at 4K, do you think that is the better choice for 4k. What can you say about this? Thank you.
Can you PLEASE give me your opinion on pairing a 5800x3d with that 4070ti ?? is either significantly bottle-necking ?? thanks sir, great content, thanks for your work.
Your last builder said he wanted to do a lot of music production as well as gaming. For that I'd definitely bump up to 32GB ram, especially if he's using sampled instruments (Kontakt) and then you want to pay a lot of attention to getting a quiet system - I would've used a Be Quiet! case rather than Fractal. Also for music production you need to balance fast single core speed with extra multi-cores. I would've liked to see Ryzen 7 if at all possible although the 5600 should be adequate. Finally, my understanding is that for music production, the ram speed DOES matter. You've come up with an excellent gaming PC, but I feel the music production side has been neglected. Hope this is constructive.
You should do a video on how to set up RGB settings. I built a computer very similar to the white build last week. So far I've only been able to change the dimm colors. The cooler, case fans, and GPU RGB's I can't figure out lol
You are by far RUclipss Best, most entertaining, Best informative builder and know'r, i absolutely love your videos, and you made me confident in now trying to build my own rig. Thanks a lot!
Haha! I know this feeling so well. Before the channel I used to enjoy helping builders by giving advice on their parts lists in pc part picker forums. Now we get some viewers that like to help other builders in the comments on the channel (on the community post where we call for the boost my build lists for example). If thats fun for you feel free to weigh in on peoples lists on the channel if you like!
I can relate, after I built my pc July 2022 I still wanted to build more. I ended up buying PC building simulator on Steam and installed Liby's hardware expansion mod. For me, that's helping me scratch my itch.
Hey Jason, great video! I was wondering if the rx 6800xt was a good gpu to pair with the i5-13600kf. I have seen it on and off around $520 on Amazon and Newegg. I also have the Corsair 4000x, and I am wondering if the airflow will be good enough for it. Thanks!
Hey Jason, Im curious is this motherboard 3:23 would be enough for i3-12100f and maybe upgrading later to i5-12400f? Or gigabyte ds3h one would be better?
For sure he Gigayte ds3h would NOT run the i5-12400F at the full frequency, however it is perfectly fine for the i3-12100F. not sure about the AsRock one.
So the tricky thing here is only certain motherboards work as they are supposed to with the 12400. So if you plan to upgrade to there in the future I would buy for that now. See our 12400 build guide for the list
@@PCBuilderChannel I thought previously about buying Asus b660m-k prime but I want to cut off costs a little bit cuz I will have to buy monitor too (gigabyte g24f)
Very useful content, fun, and informing, I wanted to know if my rx 6600 is a good combo with my Ryzen 5 5500 or would it be better with the rx 5600xt. Thanks!
In the 2nd build, the guy specifically states that he wants a NVIDIA vga and you chose to ignore him. In Newegg the difference between 6650XT and RX3060 is exactly $20 - there is open box cards for 309 and 319$ so that's what he should go for.
@@zoak4813 yep Nvidia is really good at the top end. They should stop taking advantage of their consumers by pricing their lower GPUs too high compared to the AMD ones
The cooler of the first build... as someone with a 13600k, trust me, TRUST ME!!!! if that does fit LGA1700 it will not keep it cool at stock, let alone if you overclock it. I'm going to sound like a jerk but whoever suggested it should never, NEVER give building advice. I got a 240mm AIO on mine and it still does a good job keeping my room warm at night.
Hey can anyone help me , I keep getting a 0x8007025D code when trying to install windows 11 . I have an asrock b550 MB and I am using a USB to I talk Windows
Not gonna lie, I really appreciate these videos because I keep coming back to them while trying to plan my next (and long overdue) upgrade and try to fine-tune things here and there (actually subscribed because of the deep dive on the setups and how to improve them!). Considering I've been rocking an i3 4330 and a 550Ti since 2014, with the only significant upgrade so far being an MX500 SSD, I need new parts. Some are already set in stone, like going for a 6600/6650XT (unless something new gets released in that price range, just 1080p60, MAYBE 1440p in the far future), or being cannibalized from my current build (monitor, a couple of mechanical drives, SSD, CM Centurion 590 case with GOOD airflow and CM Silent Pro M 850W PSU). My only "issue" is what you referred to as "paralysis by analysis" in your Ryzen 7600X build video, and it's choosing which platform to use. I know AM5 is currently in its early days, and despite the slightly elevated costs on B650 boards and DDR5 RAM, my train of thought leads me to believe it'd be the wisest move with a non-X R5 7600 because of upgradeability in the future (as seen with AM4). That is, assuming there'll be a BIOS update for these current boards to offer support for the next generation or 2 of CPUs, and wait for them to drop in price and get one final upgrade that could last another 5-ish years. Worst-case scenario, go with a 7800X3D by the end of the motherboard's life cycle. On the other hand, I could go and grab a 13400F/13500, or even go budget with a 12400, slap some RAM (DDR4 for budget, DDR5 for 13th gen, MAYBE), a compatible B660/760 motherboard, and forget about upgrades other than more RAM and a new GPU for a decade or so. Considering gaming and some productivity (coding/compiling and occasional video/photo editing) will be the main focus of the build, and again, coming from an old build that will be repurposed for other stuff, what would be the best option: Buy and pray for later upgrades with AM5/B650, or buy and forget with 13th gen/B760? Thanks for the in-depth videos! AM5 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/3N8tDq 13400F DDR4 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/wfWs3y 13500 DDR5 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/h8g4Ls
This is what I would do. For production work you'd want an Intel CPU not AMD. Also you'd want a Non-F CPU. Nvidia is also better for production work but they don't have a good under $300 GPU so I stuck with AMD. CPU: Intel Core i5-13500 2.5 GHz 14-Core Processor ($249.98 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($21.40 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($169.00 @ Amazon) Memory: Silicon Power XPOWER Zenith Gaming 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($39.97 @ Amazon). Jason has said no reason to go DDR5 with Intel Storage: Solidigm P41 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($58.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: ASRock Challenger D OC Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB Video Card ($289.99 @ Newegg) Total: $829.33 If you want to save money you can go 12400 and RX 6600.
I love your content!!! I wish I found it before I built My current PC... would have saved some money. I will be using some of your builds for future guides before i build a PC again. Thank you!!!
Thank you! We didn't change the camera but I agree the image looks better than usual lol. Maybe we accidentally improved the lighting? We are planing a big studio upgrade later this spring (:
My PC started off as a ASUS ROG Strix from Wal-Mart It's been transplanted into a Corsair 4000D Airflow. It's a i5-11400f on a B560 MB, 32gb of DDR4 3200 CL 22, RTX3050 (came with it) upgraded the cooler to a Ncotua NH-U9s and it has a OEM 512gb M.2 drive. It's great for 1080p gaming and with the case I have a ton of room to upgrade parts in the future
Hard to build a PC on this budget. I don't think his CPU is a bad choice at all. Even if it's "too good" for the current GPU, it allows future upgrades and it will still run nicely in a couple years. I would have recommended a 3060 and an i7 12700k, or the i5 13600k. Alongside an MSI Z690 board and a big cooler like a Noctua, Brocken or Dark Rock 4. At the current time, I don't recommend buying any more DDR4 ram, especially not the slow 3200. You don't wanna save too much on the power supply either. Hard to build a good PC for little money nowadays.
cant believe i havent even build a pc, yet i instantly knew all of those mistakes (besides sdd) because i actually did my research, also very surprised that it was the same monitor i found for my friend while looking for the best 1440p one
Thank you. Very illuminating. I've been playing with builds using parts only in stock at Best Buy, but that seems to cost a significant premium. I guess I need to learn to play with PC Parts picker, and spread the wealth around. I am just wary of Amazon and smaller vendors. Thank you.
Somehow it still enjoyable to watch these kind of stuffs even after building a PC, gained many insight from this channel but i also realized i made some unwise choices but at the very least i gain the amount of performance i wanted with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX 6600 XT and the aesthetic going on in my PC with majorly white themed PC minus of motherboard, fan, and the PSU cable, and it kinda sucks that the fan i used now dont have the white version sold in my country while this video featuered the same fan with white color.... (using Thermalright Assassin King SE as well)
Great video and it helps a lot as I am working on upgrading my gaming PC as well and considering a similar $1500 budget to the last system you reviewed.
Great video, Jason and team. How would that A60 NVME work as a game drive in a PCIe Gen2 slot? Would load times be noticeably worse than my current SN550 in its Gen3 slot?
This vid is awesome, I love the tips. Just built my first PC yesterday and I know I’d get roasted for the parts but GPUs are still hard to come by in Canada
Brother hates computer advice as well. He tried saving time by leaving old psu cords in with new psu. Destroyed his hdd. Just bought a Ryzen 5950 to go with the Msi 450 Tomahawk I gave him a year ago. Me: That $80 motherboard wasn't intended for that $500 cpu. Vrm/etc. The website said it was fine. The website said it would fit. And why do you need 16 cores for gaming? ----- I'm also somewhat concerned that the 3080 and 5950x will be a bit much for the 650w psu. Though maybe he replaced that after the cord thing. I didn't ask.
Got a deal on a SN850 1TB for 125$, a nice upgrade from a SN550 256GB, and SSD prices have been really cheap lately, I've got a 2TB HDD since I horde a lot of stuff, but 1TB is enough for 95% of people, and I would take fast storage over more but slower one any day of the week.
Hey Jason! Thanks for everything! All the advice and tips! Because if you I was able to build a pc! I haven't checked to see if it can post yet, but thank you for everything. Thanks for all the advice for the best components for the price and such!
Great video, always best with cats! Question for new build (and it's really stupid because I just like the light up MSI Dragon) Is the MSI Z790 Edge ddr4 with a I5-13600kf a bad combo choice? And will an 850ps be enough? Haven't bought these last three parts yet, but I have everything else!
Depends on what you're doing and as for the 850 what your GPU is. If you're doing production work you'd want a Non-F CPU aka the 13600k but if just gaming that CPU is fine though AMD would be better. Nothing wrong with that motherboard though.
Hey sir. Good vid as always. Just want to ask. What do you think is the best Ryzen CPU and MOBO for a 3060 TI for 2023? Looking to do 1080P at High-Ultra Settings. TIA. More power!
I've personally used that downfire cooler master cooler. It will NOT handle a 13600. I had to replace it on my 11400f running at about 90 Watts. It's pretty crappy
I haven't looked at builds in years. But when I upgraded my GPU from the gtx 1070 to the RTX 3060ti, I started looking again. But I think my i7 8700 should be okay for a couple more years. Of course, Intel has changed the cpu chips, so I pretty much have to build another computer when I decide to upgrade the CPU.
You mentionned that the B660 wasn't good for the 13600k. Would that be the same for a 13600kf? If so, what would be a good motherboard for someone on a budget?[Canada] Thanks!
Obviously not Jason, but yes, same for a 13600kf. The only difference between the 2 is the 13600kf doesn't have integrated graphics, so the power draw would be roughly the same. (K means the CPU can be overclocked, which can only be done on Z-series motherboard of the correct generation.) You would want a Z-series motherboard for a K Intel CPU, which is harder on a budget because you usually can only get a low-tier Z motherboard, so you would miss out on features and potentially performance. This is something I ran into when researching for my 11600k build, if you commit to a k CPU it doesn't make sense to go for a B chipset board, because why not get a non-k CPU for cheaper, and a better B chipset motherboard with more features for about the same price.
Love the video redo on the first build good choice on the cpu I have one of these they chug along well for gaming. I don’t know about that A60 SSD it has no DRAM cache. I’d go a Samsung 970 Evo Plus as the main drive. They’ve dropped in price lately in Australia $99 AUD a good buy
Its slightly unbalanced and if you can pair it with a 5700X (or for a great combo 5800X3D) that would be better, but it will be fine for gaming and has a nice upgrade path for you in the future
Hi Jason! I love your videos! I just subscribed! I have never built a pc (my current pc is an Aurora r11 (ew) and i'm ready for the daunting task of building my first!) I watched your video over the 5800x3d (i like it for its price to performance) but im not sure if i want to go with the 6800xt or the 7900xtx. I mainly want to game at 1440p with high frame rates.
Wow! You make amazingly helpful videos! Definitely subbing to the channel. I’ve always bought prebuilts because I have no clue how to pick out parts/build but your videos are definitely giving me the confidence to build my own soon. In the meantime I would like to upgrade my current gpu and SSD. Any recommendations for what gpu and 1TB nvme to pair with a Ryzen 7 3700x cpu and a Tomahawk b450 mobo? Currently have an nvidia 1070 gpu and a 750W psu. Currently playing on 1080p monitor but may pick up the 1440p monitor you recommended in the $1200 build. Keep up the great videos!!!
Hey. I noticed you used the ryzen 5600 with a 4070 ti. Wouldn't the cpu bottleneck with that graphics card. Bottlenecking is something im struggling with understanding recently. If someone was planning on mostly gaming with this pc, would the cpu hold them back and theoretically not get the performance out of the card they paid for?
Not my first choice, like i say in the video 5700X is the minimum I would normally pair. But for this purpose it will get them the gaming performance they are looking for and gives a clear upgrade path in the future to a 5800X3D which will be a fantastic combo
Hello PC Builder and to all, do ya'll recommend this combo for a mid tier end pc?( RTX 3070 i7-12700KF 32GB PSU 850 W Gold 80+) Please comment down below and let me know. Thank you.
There are better price to performance options right now. Is this a prebuilt? If yes, check out our Best Prebuilt Gaming PC 2024 video for better recommendations. If building new see our recent 5600 build guide
Hey :) I'm thinking on a 13600k paired with a 4070 but 13600k costs 100 USD more than the 12700k in my country. Would you still pick 13600k over 12700k? Also do I need a good MB for both? Was thinking on the b660m
Hello! Just planning out my first build (Note: I'm from the Philippines, my budget is about 1100-1300. Some parts aren't available or out of stock locally so that's why I'm not making a build using pcpartpicker yet). I play games at 165 Hz with such as low performance games such Val, Overwatch though I plan on the excessive setup for AAA games such as God of war, Elden ring, Miles Morales etc. I also go for mobile game emulation which is CPU heavy. I also plan to live stream casually with it. Maybe go for an AMD card for the upcoming AV1 encodding? I found a used 3070ti and AMD 6800xt for about $473.52 (converted to USD) with a year of manufacturer warranty. This is gonna be a big leap from me as I'm currently using an (laptop) 1050 mobile and 9600k Any tips or advice you have? Thanks!
If he has to have cpu for some reason (compiling, photo or video work, whatever) I would take a light gpu with heavier cpu. Gaming system does not mean that is all he will run, he just may want to play a game here and there (like me). I would take at least extra 2TB for Steam or whatever in that case though (I got 4TB 4.0 ×4). That cpu cooler is off though. Case is whatever you want, 2U for me. Anything goes really, just watch the parts and thermals. (srsly, do not go out and do 2U or 1.5U, there are some real snags).
Hey bro just a doubt with an old pc build : Pro : i5-4430 @3.00 ghz GPU : GTX 1060 6gb What kind of bottleneck is happening here ? Many bottleneck checking websites i looked through shows the GPU is bottlenecking the cpu !

Great video, made a donation and keep on providing great content!
For less than the 3050 another option getting better with each update is the arc a750 though that 6650 xt is still better. They keep improving and I hope they can keep going to add to the competition for amd and nvidia. Just need good upper and mid cards.
Driver overhead... >XD

Glad to help where we can.
Instant like after seeing the integration, that's how people in the first world should act in the situations like this
Man I really wish I waited a bit longer to start buying my parts because the second guy in the video was the exact price range I wanted. I have similar components but I liked that case and motherboard much better :/
@@MaycroftCholmsky no one “should” do anything, that may have been a poor choice of words but yes it’s a good thing to do.
Hi your from pc centric server
That last build really shows how much researching and picking out your parts carefully helps. Almost double the gaming performance for around the same price! Really great video!
Thanks for watching
Right I was going to get the 4070ti but nah I passed got me a 7900xtx red devil and paired it with a 5800x3d since I had all the other parts already upgraded from a 5700x and a rx6600xt big jump for me

I’m speccing a PC and i found this channel a couple of days ago and it helped me a lot, also we were woken up by the earthquake at 3am here in Beirut and it was a truly horrifying experience even though were like 500km away from the epicenter, I can’t imagine what the people in Turkey experienced.
Props to PC Builder for paying it forward.
Glad you found us. And that's so scary. Happy to help as we can.
I love this series, highly entertaining. I already built my pc almost a year ago but this is super helpful for my next upgrades. :)
So glad you are enjoying!! Congrats on your build and happy to help you plan for the next one
And thank you for using your channel to spread awareness and help out people affected by the earthquake!
Hope you guys have a great weekend ✨:)
Thank you Valentina! Hope you have a great rest of your Friday (:
Jason comin in with the info of vital importance as always.
Hope its helpful!! Thanks for watching (;
iv already built my PC, but your videos are so awesome and entertaining, i keep watching.
Awesome! So glad you are enjoying and we sure appreciate it (:
What cpu and gpu?
I love these series! I built my PC recently and I would love to get your reaction on it, but having watched a few of these videos, I am pretty sure I know where you would "slap me on the wrist" for choosing that specific component. The truth is I got a discount on pretty much every component I bought so I am happy.
The important thing is you are happy!
Glad you enjoyed (:
Hi Jason, you earned my massive respect for helping out the earthquake relief. Wish I could suscribe twice !
Glad we can help where we can. Thank you
As someone who has built almost 10 PCs in the last 12 months, this was super informational! Thank you!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES! So useful and entertaining at the same time!
So glad you like it! It's fun to make (:
I would honestly get an Arc A750 over a 3050 as well because its performance and ray tracing is also superior to the 3050
It's pretty much on par with a 3060 from what I see
I have the AP201 and can say it's a really great case. Great build quality and component compatibility as well as that unique look that has a cool diffusion effect on lighting passing through the "waffle" side panel.
Thanks for sharing!
I paired the 4070 with my "old" i7 10700k and i was worried about the cpu bottleneck.
At 1440p looks like im 100% safe for the next 2 years.
Unfortunately, there's no minimum spec rrequirement on the box
I remember the old days where you could read what you need for the GPU.
Literally makes my day when a "boost my build" video comes out! Thanks for putting a smile on my face👌
So glad you enjoyed!! Thank you for watching and have a great weekend
You have my profound respect. Thanks for thinking of those affected by the earthquakes.
Glad to help where we can
Nice build on the last computer! I think the prices are kind of crazy as well, but what you said it completely true! He wants a gaming computer, so get a gaming computer! He will have it for many years to come anyways, and $1500 is great for that kind of PC. Good job my friend!
Thank you! And thanks for sharing
Thanks for teaching us about building a pc and giving tips about tech/parts. I was about to buy a motherboard that wasn't compatible, I'm was very lucky that I saw it sooner in your videos.
So glad we could help!!
So glad you are enjoying!! You can pair a 5800X3D all the way to a 4090 so go for the fastest GPU that fits your budget.
@@PCBuilderChannel Awesome thank you so much!! Appreciate your constant help with the community!
I also have a same question but I m looking now to buy
7900 XT
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed (:
I came across 32gb G skill Trident neo for $50 on craigslist jumped on it, threw it in my build found out it was 4000hz. I have a 5800x. I was wondering if there's a Budget, mid, to high-end b550 motherboard and will boost my cpu and ram currently on Asus b550 prime. I saw the B550 taichi went on sale for $189 newegg. I don't know if it's a good match. Please help
Really hope that second builder went with a Raedeon GPU cos the Nvidia nametag at that price point is just unacceptable value
Yes budget building with Nvidia GPUs is rough!
I have been following you for like couple months since I am planning to build a gaming/ML production PC. Bro you made me cry with that earthquake support, love from Turkiye!
Good luck with the new build! Of course, always happy to support.

I've been there too!
Awesome video as always Jason! I gotta say, super impressed with that last white build, for that same money the upgrade in performance is bonkers. Great stuff, love this show

I know I could have gone for a 7600 or a 5600, but he had a budget for 1k.
I simply refuse to use hard drives for some years . Only if you need like 10TB of storage or more you'll get HDD
Great vid as always. I'm going to Micro Center tomorrow to get one of their cpu bundles while they have their sale. One step closer to new PC.

Finally someone said it about the 4070, I did a recent build and felt presured to not get it, but in Aus, the 4070 was the cheaper option
This series is a true benefit to the community. I'm constantly amazed how much money gets wasted on these builds. It's also nice to see 1500 budget building a great gaming pc again.

That's a good goal!

That's how you boost a build. Excellent information throughout. On the all white PSU I agree there is no point sine most case have a psu shroud get the extensions and call it a day
that 4000d airflow is almost 50% less priced now. Around 82$. I don't know where did you found the price. And RTX3060Ti is around 430$.
Happy Wife, happy this build might actually be approved by her
Just found your channel now that I'm getting ready to update my 9 year old computer. Great insite and thanks.
Best of luck with that
Glad you found us and best wishes on the upgrade!
Let me start by saying that i love your videos, great job Jason! Now... the only doubt i have is with the 192 bit bus of the 4070ti for playing at 4K, do you think that is the better choice for 4k. What can you say about this? Thank you.
Ada lovelace has more cache which mitigates the lower bus width
Can you PLEASE give me your opinion on pairing a 5800x3d with that 4070ti ?? is either significantly bottle-necking ?? thanks sir, great content, thanks for your work.
No that would be a good combo
That's a good combo! See our 5800X3D build guide on the channel for more
@@PCBuilderChannel real fucking heroes of RUclips bro. This guy.
Thanks for sharing!
You should do a video on how to set up RGB settings. I built a computer very similar to the white build last week. So far I've only been able to change the dimm colors. The cooler, case fans, and GPU RGB's I can't figure out lol
It can be a challenge for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

I really wanna do a second build, but my current pc is perfectly adequate (built in June 2020). How can I scratch the itch, jason? pls help!
Haha! I know this feeling so well. Before the channel I used to enjoy helping builders by giving advice on their parts lists in pc part picker forums. Hey Jason, great video! I was wondering if the rx 6800xt was a good gpu to pair with the i5-13600kf. I have seen it on and off around $520 on Amazon and Newegg. I also have the Corsair 4000x, and I am wondering if the airflow will be good enough for it. Thanks!
Yes that's a good pair
Good combo, see our 13600K build guide for more
Hey Jason, Im curious is this motherboard 3:23 would be enough for i3-12100f and maybe upgrading later to i5-12400f? Or gigabyte ds3h one would be better?
For sure he Gigayte ds3h would NOT run the i5-12400F at the full frequency, however it is perfectly fine for the i3-12100F. not sure about the AsRock one.
@@zInslanex Do you know any budget motherboard that would be better than these two?
So the tricky thing here is only certain motherboards work as they are supposed to with the 12400. So if you plan to upgrade to there in the future I would buy for that now. See our 12400 build guide for the list
I would say if you can afford the MSI PRO B660-A go with that as it's currently the cheapest one Jason recommended in his 12400 video.
@@PCBuilderChannel I thought previously about buying Asus b660m-k prime but I want to cut off costs a little bit cuz I will have to buy monitor too (gigabyte g24f)

The 6600 would be good with your CPU
Good combo, but if you are buying new and can stretch to 5600 its a better CPU for not too much more
Your videos really assist me with my next build. Thank you Jason!
So glad to help! Thanks for watching.
In the 2nd build, the guy specifically states that he wants a NVIDIA vga and you chose to ignore him. In Newegg the difference between 6650XT and RX3060 is exactly $20 - there is open box cards for 309 and 319$ so that's what he should go for.
Because nvidia is worse
@hellonoitisnt393 budget nvidia is worse but high end it can go either way
@@zoak4813 yep Nvidia is really good at the top end.
Thank you for sharing!
AM5 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/3N8tDq
13400F DDR4 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/wfWs3y
13500 DDR5 build: pcpartpicker.com/list/h8g4Ls
This is what I would do. For production work you'd want an Intel CPU not AMD. Also you'd want a Non-F CPU. Nvidia is also better for production work but they don't have a good under $300 GPU so I stuck with AMD.
CPU: Intel Core i5-13500 2.5 GHz 14-Core Processor ($249.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($21.40 @ Amazon)

Video Card: ASRock Challenger D OC Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB Video Card ($289.99 @ Newegg)

Glad you found us! We've got you on the next build (:
Your Web Cam image looks better, did you change it or change any studio light? Great content btw! :)
Thank you! We didn't change the camera but I agree the image looks better than usual lol. Maybe we accidentally improved the lighting? We are planing a big studio upgrade later this spring (:
My PC started off as a ASUS ROG Strix from Wal-Mart
It's been transplanted into a Corsair 4000D Airflow.
Nice!
Nice!
Thank you.
Very illuminating.
I've been playing with builds using parts only in stock at Best Buy, but that seems to cost a significant premium. I guess I need to learn to play with PC Parts picker, and spread the wealth around. I am just wary of Amazon and smaller vendors.
Thank you.
Glad we can help! Yes PC Part Picker is a great resource
(using Thermalright Assassin King SE as well)
So glad you are enjoying! And we can always improve our builds as we learn so I wouldn't worry about it (:
Great video and it helps a lot as I am working on upgrading my gaming PC as well and considering a similar $1500 budget to the last system you reviewed.
Glad we could help!
Congrats on your first build!!
-----
I'm also somewhat concerned that the 3080 and 5950x will be a bit much for the 650w psu. Though maybe he replaced that after the cord thing. I didn't ask.
It's so hard when builders don't want to hear advice! I know the feeling. Glad you tried to help though!
Got a deal on a SN850 1TB for 125$, a nice upgrade from a SN550 256GB, and SSD prices have been really cheap lately, I've got a 2TB HDD since I horde a lot of stuff, but 1TB is enough for 95% of people, and I would take fast storage over more but slower one any day of the week.
why didn't you suggest ARC A750 instead of RX 6650XT ?
Becoming a solid option too! See our latest GPU Market Update video for lots more on this
Hey Jason!
Thanks for everything! All the advice and tips!
Because if you I was able to build a pc!
I haven't checked to see if it can post yet, but thank you for everything.
Thanks for all the advice for the best components for the price and such!
So glad we could help and congrats on your build!
OMG! HE REPLIED!
THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH JASON🥺
Jason - what GPU would you pair with a Ryzen 7 2700x? Open to new or used, targetting 1440p 144hz gaming. Thank you!
TIA. More power!
If you want to stay at budget range, the Ryzen 5 5600 and a decent B550 will do.
@@rogued3mon414 Good point. But what's the highest I could go (CPU-wise) without bottlenecking the 3060TI?
@@keylord_8805 Any cpu you want to be honest. Even Ryzen 7000, intel 13th gen, just any CPU.
@@rogued3mon414 Got it. Thanks.
5600 - 5700X would be my choice
I've personally used that downfire cooler master cooler. It will NOT handle a 13600. I had to replace it on my 11400f running at about 90 Watts. It's pretty crappy
Thanks for sharing
I haven't looked at builds in years. But when I upgraded my GPU from the gtx 1070 to the RTX 3060ti, I started looking again. But I think my i7 8700 should be okay for a couple more years.
Of course, Intel has changed the cpu chips, so I pretty much have to build another computer when I decide to upgrade the CPU.
You mentionned that the B660 wasn't good for the 13600k. Would that be the same for a 13600kf? If so, what would be a good motherboard for someone on a budget?[Canada] Thanks!
Yes it would. Any Z690 should be good for the 13600k. You could also drop down to the 13400 in which case a B660 would be good.
Sadly yes, see our 13600K build guide for more
Love the video redo on the first build good choice on the cpu I have one of these they chug along well for gaming. I don’t know about that A60 SSD it has no DRAM cache. I’d go a Samsung 970 Evo Plus as the main drive. They’ve dropped in price lately in Australia $99 AUD a good buy
IMO this is the best PC tech channel. IMO
So glad you are enjoying!! ( :
Thank you! Your last example showed me that you can put new a gen (or only 4070ti- ?) Gpu on AM4 with a 5600x and not have cpu bottleneck
Its slightly unbalanced and if you can pair it with a 5700X (or for a great combo 5800X3D) that would be better, but it will be fine for gaming and has a nice upgrade path for you in the future
Hi Jason! I love your videos! I just subscribed!
I have never built a pc (my current pc is an Aurora r11 (ew) and i'm ready for the daunting task of building my first!)
I watched your video over the 5800x3d (i like it for its price to performance) but im not sure if i want to go with the 6800xt or the 7900xtx. I mainly want to game at 1440p with high frame rates.
In the white build... If you went with the 7900 XT instead, would you recommend upgrading to a Ryzen 7?
You certainly can! See our 7600X build guide for more
Thank you so much!
Hop over to our 13600K build guide, I'd use the same list there for 13700K just with the premium cooling we recommend
Would the NZXT T120 Air Cooler be good enough for the i5 13600K cpu? Building my first pc ever, and im not that experienced, thx. Subbed 👍
I think so, but for that price you could get the better AK620.
@@PCBuilderChannel im building it myself so… yeah.
the best series on tech RUclips right now
So glad you enjoyed!
Hey :) I'm thinking on a 13600k paired with a 4070 but 13600k costs 100 USD more than the 12700k in my country. Would you still pick 13600k over 12700k? Also do I need a good MB for both? Was thinking on the b660m
I would recommend 13th gen yes, see our 13600K build guide for more (:
@@PCBuilderChannel You have an amazing channel and very informative too, thanks you! Will check it now.
Hello! Just planning out my first build
(Note: I'm from the Philippines, my budget is about 1100-1300.
This is gonna be a big leap from me as I'm currently using an (laptop) 1050 mobile and 9600k
Any tips or advice you have? Thanks!
Would the 6950 xt not be a better fit for the white monster in the correct price range?
Seeing it at 699 in a few places.
Also a good option!
Hey bro just a doubt with an old pc build :
Pro : i5-4430 @3.00 ghz
GPU : GTX 1060 6gb
What kind of bottleneck is happening here ?
Many bottleneck checking websites i looked through shows the GPU is bottlenecking the cpu !
