I love watching your videos, not just because I'm a fellow HR352 owner, but because you are an excellent communicator and it is inspiring to watch you work. Congratulations on becoming a dad!
Congratulations on the baby girl. As a father of two I get jumping into bed on the boat, that is classic! I am glad to see you back at it. With a new born at home I am amazed you found as much time as you did to work on Wanda. Keep up the good work!
Hey Rhys thanks for the message, great to hear you’ve got another vid ready to go I’ve been looking forwards to it. Life gets in the way sometimes hey?
I have to wonder at the chemistry of the foam once it has been saturated for years. Will it retain its strength or lose its integrity? I know that foams over time deteriorate when exposed to sunlight and air so they are not bullet proof. In all cases where I have dealt with saturated coring I just removed all the material that wasn't bone dry and started from scratch on rebuilding the areas so I don't really know what drying and leaving the foam in place will do to its strength and bond (that bond to top and bottom skins is critical to its design strength and laminate schedule). I also know that manufacturers of foam have inflated the properties and longevity thereof since its first use in the early sixties in pleasure boats. Might be a good question to toss at West Systems as they have done a great deal of experimentation with coring etc. over the many years they have been in boat building. They have always been very helpful when I have technical questions. Since they build boats as a hobby themselves as well as formulate their epoxy they are a good resource.
Wow, congratulations on your baby girl! I wasn’t expecting you back for quite awhile so it was amazing to see you again. It looks like all your hard work is finally paying off, I’m so happy your moisture levels have finally come down. That was the most disheartening thing to watch you go through, your struggle was real...real hard to watch, I felt so bad for you! Glad that’s over and happy to see you on to other work! Nena California
Hey Nena thanks a lot for your well wishes. I am really surprised but very relieved the moisture levels have gone down as now I can go ahead and start some great projects!
I've been enjoying this series, but honestly I can't imagine how you'll finish. Not because of talent but because of financial responsibility and your daughter. Congratulations by the way. Boats always take a back seat, and eventually get sold off when the family pressure gets turned up. Please sell Wanda off before you get forced to put her outside before she's ready.
Cheers Bob but I find that a little pessimistic. You might be right, but there's no harm in holding back and reserving judgement. It's early days for me.
@@aboatcalledwanda6925 Everyone has the best of intentions. I really hope you're right, because you've done a wonderful job with Wanda so far, but yards are littered with half completed projects that were begun with the best of intentions and ended when life stepped in.
Hey there! What is the status of Wanda? Its been some time since an update! As a parent of two daughters (6 and 12) I know how much time being a parent takes! It is all worth it, but sometime project languish as our priorities change to kids. I have am finally to the point where my oldest comes with me and genuinely helps me on boat projects.. of which there are many. I hope all is well!
Congratulations on your new arrival 🙆. Good of you to still find space in your valuable free time to make and post updates on Wanda. Suggestion - Christmas is just around the corner, so a great excuse to buy your daughter all the boat related power tools she has always wanted (but doesn't know it yet 😀).
Haha Danny Boy - its funny just the other day my daughter communicated though verbal noises and grins that she would really like a triton contractor saw module, and she also said I was welcome to borrow it!
Congratulations again! It's nice to get a professional to step in every now and then, if you are not for some reason able (or interested) to do all the work your self! It makes you some how feel you are not entirely neglecting your baby (which baby, that's your own decision...) ;-)
Ive got two babies now! It would be great to do all the work myself but it feels ok to pass on some of the complex tasks that I could make a bigger mess of!
Hey, you are achieving distance of work inch (25.4mm) by inch (25.4mm)! Remember "Rome wasn't burnt in a day" …That skeg seems to have been through some serious impact and clumsy repairs. I reckon it was wise to call in help, since the shape was very unclear.
Great job on the seacocks, as far as the skeg goes. You could have done a better job. Trust your judgment and build up as necessary. A few larger pieces to overlap arround the front and sides. The contouring to the rudder shaft should have been colloidal silica as you said. Are you sure there is room to glass over the faired area on the skeg?
Hey Bull Hippo, there should be enough room - Anthony is making up a template of the rudder to check how much room will be left. I think he will use carbon fibre cloth so it should be strong enough over the low density filler.
Congrats on your new addition and I am amazed you have made any progress at all on the boat - but it is all coming along nicely. PS - What make is your router table? Has it got above table adjustment - and what router are you using?
Cheers Norman. The router table is a Triton Workstation - it has a router module, circular saw module. I am very impressed with it - and yes it has a table adjustment. The router itself is 1400 W and has plenty of guts for cutting through hard wood - you can see in an earlier update I am cutting out 25 mm wide trenches in Iroko and the router did an amazing job. I really like Triton - and highly underrated and underpriced product. I will show you more of the table in the next update if you like.
Hey James - no I am still going, its just that it is a part time project running in the background now, I won't have as much time as I had previously. But I will get there in the end.
Ahh! Just found out, something reminding me of Wanda ruclips.net/video/8ykjp0pwURM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fFC0btKtK-0/видео.html So weird when your associations clash. 🙃

Congratulations on your new deckhand!

Congrats on the new crew member, that's really exciting. Time to put some sandpaper in her hand and put her to work!
yes! And scrubbing the decks, scraping antifouling etc etc :)
Nice tot see you back! I know from experience Hallberg Rassy's are great family boats so you should be good to go!
