I just flew on one from Newark to SFO really good plane the biggest single isle plane Boeing has built also super smooth landing not sure if that was the pilot or plane
It can climb straight to cruise altitude fully loaded to 45000 feet without leveling off to burn fuel and lighten up
The climb performance of the 757 always impresses me!

It was great, smooth, seemed to accelerate very fast, different noise than other commercial airliners I've been on recently. Seats a bit tight, but the main thing is a safe flight and we got there no problem and it was smooth.
managed to fly on the 757-300 variant from england to iceland and on the way back the -200 variant :D but i was at the back so i didn't hear the engines :I

Almost 3 and a half years later and this still remains my favourite takeoff vid on RUclips. Absolutely incredible from start to finish. And that thrust reduction is epic.......plain and simple.

Wow! Wow! Those RB211s smoothly deliver at V1 into rotation and ascent! Oh my, it's joyful!
Yes! None of that high pitched thrust, steep ascent, level-off, re-ascent rollercoaster crap that you get with the 737s. 757s are just a leisurely smooth ride up.
The old RB-211's furiously trying to swallow their own rage. They became such a glorious engine.

Love this bird! Distinctive engine noise. I lived under the flight path in Palm Beach and didn't even have to look when they came over. The engine sound is that distinctive.

Man those RB 211's sound like no other. Although RR have made many other engines since the 211's this is a beast of an engine and until they released their XWB's these engines were unrivalled. Long live the 211's.
I honestly have always been fascinated by the sound of the RB211s on the 757. Just a great combo, no?
I heard the same sound on another plane on my way to Cancun.... don't rede,ber what it was but I think we flew on airbus.... that sound is very very distinct though

its amazing.... how much these engines these engines will ingest without any performance lose.Engineering to a RR is fantastic and would put my LIFE in their hands. As far as the sounds, distinct mumming....what a joy.... it means everything is OK. For those who committed that don't like the noise, put some earphones or head phones on. The B757 is the most powerful of all commercial airliners! These aircraft can land & takeoff from almost any length of runway, & the takeoff thrust is phenomenal. My favorite aircraft! American Airlines, now retired.
This is my favorite take off video. The engine sound is so amazing and so is the Miami scenery.

The RB211 is such a menacing sounding engine. A few seconds before full spool, you hear how bad they want to come alive. Then that magnificent spool and the resounding whine.

From spool up to rotate, that was one of the fastest takeoffs I’ve ever seen in a commercial airplane. Fantastic. Starting out in the rain, breaking through the clouds, that spine tingling sound of the engines. A tour de force aviation video. Well done. I know it’s an older post, but I just found it and it’s me new favorite.

Its common on all jets, although I wouldn't consider it a problem
It's certainly not a problem....
And i should edit and say its really audible on the RB211 engines and its not super audible on other airplanes. Some A330s have a deep growl and i do hear it from some 319s and 320s but its faint
Nice video and I love the sound of those engines. I remember climbing out through many South Florida rainstorms in a variety of aircraft. Some of my most memorable flights were on the venerable 727. Love that aircraft.

Years ago, I used to fly every week from LA up to Eatontown NJ to help straighten out a problem with a company that was making a generator for us. Always flew AA 757. Never worried a bit whenever we blasted up thru the winter storm clouds -- rain, snow, sleet -- it didn't matter. Those RB211 engines basically made the 757 overpowered -- and one of the safest airplanes to fly. But there was more to the 757 than that. Pilots LOVED flying the 757. It was a real 'pilot's airplane'.... that was nice to know, also..!
