I seriously don’t think Jason gets enough credit for what kind of business man/entrepreneur he really is. This dude inspires me so much. He just started making furniture out of necessity and now look what he’s doing. He rarely misses a Saturday upload, he does more for his RUclips community than probably any RUclipsr I know about, his videos are consistently excellent and his work is fantastic. I love how he always has like 5 things going on. He is a true testament that if you work your butt off and stay consistent and focused you can achieve the impossible.
He's a good guy and wound up making millions. I'm honestly happy for him. Too bad about the Magnolia show, but at least he's not stuck working for someone else, on their schedule.
Depending on what you like you should check out Perkins Builder Brothers, their channel is great. The build houses they are on the North Carolina side of the Smokies Mountains. They were fortunately south of the worst storm damage. They have been making videos for several years. Two other channels I like alot are Stud Pack and the DIY Wife. I obviously like Bourbon moth as well. I always try to keep up with what Jason is doing.
You are missing a very critical point, we need to discuss about it: Zipline people, we need a crazy zipline to a deck with a small hidden hatch with whisky
The progress on the house is impressive, especially given how much extra work you discovered needed to be done along the way. I look forward to seeing it finished.
Its interesting to read some of the negative comments more or less saying he should have bought a house that didn't need as much work...or commenting on how much something costs and or the value. I'm sure that when he bought the place he had a marginal idea of some of the work that they were going to put into it. Of course I'm sure there is also a lot that no one would have known until you start digging into the walls. Ive done the same on multiple renovations, especially any house that's 50 years or older. At the end of the day, be appreciative that its not your wallet but his. Appreciate that he has the means and ability to renovate this house and provided the content for you to watch and maybe get some idea from for your own projects. I know I am. Not all of his projects are exactly how I would do them or how I would spend money, but they have given me ideas to use on my own projects or different ways to look at something. Thanks Jason and Team. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your content.
Yeah, they also don't seem to understand that he makes money off buying this house. Making content on youtube is his job and this house provides that for him (on top of getting free/reduced priced products to be mentioned in his videos and future income stream from renting it out)
Well stated. There is nothing worse on YT than jealous keyboard warrior trolls who are resentful of someone else's success. People need to watch and enjoy or keep scrolling. That's the problem with society these days.
I'm speaking form experience purchasing just two houses. in the hope of making them my home. my first purchase was in 1983. after a year of renovation work , I'm very proud to say was all done by both my wife and I. we made a decent enough profit to sell and purchase our forever home. when you do purchase a home I can tell you from experience, it is a Money Pit. Ok you do get what you pay for, but there can also be those little things that you don't see. After all its your home and its your choice what you do and can do with it. what you are doing Jason, is showing people how to make your Money Pit in to a Cash Cow. all the best to you and your endeavours. keep up the great work.
WOW!!!!! It looks so good. When I saw the first video tour of the house when you bought it I was really thinking it was a wild looking crazy house that was so horribly laid out. You corrected so much stuff to make it into a normal code compliant house with safe character. Amazing work! I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.
As much as construction and contractors are a pain, it is kind of fun to see all of the changes and progress to the projects... as long as you aren't the guy paying for it... or dealing with contractors. It's going to be a gorgeous vacation house. Nice job!
That guy on the stilts totally stole the show in the first part of the video! That's actually the very first time that I saw stilts being used for something, other than just being an "attraction" at a state fare or other kind of festival. Anyhow, thanks for the recap clips inbetween. Made it much easier to see what changes happened. Love how everything is coming along.
Jason “Vila”. Love these episodes of the house. Would love to see more of the install of things. Love the channel. One of these days I will subscribe to Patreon.
I strongly suggest you rethink the surround on the A/C. It needs to breathe. Check manual for clearances but in general less restriction to air around that bad boy is better.
Superb progress! 🎉 Well done, I can't wait for you to start putting your own stamp on it. Looking forward to the Germany episode too! Wood rocks! Peace out. 😊
The place is looking great! Made some important changes and upgrades. However, I think you are making a major mistake with just a half- bath upstairs. A shower for smelly, active kids that is in their space will keep up the downstairs bathrooms for those sleeping downstairs. Just a consideration.
Elemental: Reimagining Wildfire. You and anyone with a home in the forest urban interface must watch this movie. You will deconstruct the decks, install metal roofing, create defenseable space. And maybe rethink moving to the forest. Good luck with the next fire season. Please 0:06 don’t ask for help to bail you out of your bad decisions
For those wondering, the glulam beam has to be that tall/thick because it's a continuous span. As in it's not got a post in the middle. It'd be different if it were a standalone mezzanine, but it looks like it's right near the ridge line, which means that roof load probably transfers through the exterior wall right where that beam is. So all the weight of that section of floor and possibly roof and whatever is on that floor and roof has to be transferred through that beam. It probably does need to be exactly that big, or it would sag.
My son has liked watching the cabin updates with me before bed. He pointed out the beard is getting a little more grey from when you showed prior clips 🤣🤣🤣
The Black Butte house is looking nice. The new exterior color pairs well with the pavers. Don’t panic, I’m not stalking you, just happen to be a fan of the show (as a less than novice woodworker I find it very helpful and somewhat entertaining) who also is remodeling a home at Black Butte (I’m taking the Sarah Winchester approach) and since I was in the neighborhood I thought I’d take a look (exterior only, I didn’t go onsite). Quick question ( like you have time to answer questions from random strangers) Did you run heat under the new pavers?
You have a bunch of trips planned? I know one because I saw you and Craig there. But, I can’t post the picture that you and Craig kindly posed with me to take. #oktoberfest. Thanks again for taking your time to take a photo with me. Still beaming that I looked up and saw you and Craig. What are the chances? Love your videos!
Everything looks great. Can't wait to see it finished. Only thing, I still think that staircase in the entryway is in the wrong location. Not sure where to put it.
The right way to do things! In my condo they had the electrical remade, but they left the old one(s!) there. A sea of cables, and you don't know what the hell they are!
Looks great! You keeping the wood burning fireplace? Since it’s going to be an air bnb, I wouldn’t be comfortable having random people starting fires in my house. Too many idiots out there lol. I’d turn it into a gas or electric fireplace
Its funny how you guys mention small and pretty decent size bed room :) ..those rooms are huuuuuge for Europe standards. I love the place and surroundings! Is this going to be your house or a 2nd house?
I'm confused why you would have such a large laundry room but a small front secondary bedroom. guess its too late but it would have been great to have switched them. I'm sure theres a reason why you didnt. Great work, I've been waiting for an update for awhile now :)
Given location you need to bring in a good tree company and make a clear space of 100' because it is not IF there will be a fire, it is WHEN there will be a fire. That is one overgrown lot. I am wondering if you can even get fire insurance on this structure? Hope so.
If there’s a forest fire of the type they get in the PNW, 1000 feet of clear space around a home won’t save it. Red hot embers blowing by the truckload effortlessly spread fire across rivers and 8 lane interstate highways. A hundred yards of missing trees would be utterly inconsequential.
I'm really racing you on house renovation. I think you are going to beat me and I started in 2012. I think the lack of Tyvek and flagging was a sign of the times. My mountain house (near Lake Arrowhead, CA) didn't have any roof flashing, Tyvek house wrap not window pan flashing. Built in 1985.
Whoaaaa you’re half way there!! No, not really. Once drywall goes up that’s just shy of the halfway marker to a renovation in my book. But great to see major progress!
Ummm... I for one would be totally onboard for a Bourbon Moth Woodworking golf series. Also..... Bourbon Moth X Bob Does Sports whiskey golf challenge anyone?
17:43 as soon as Jason went to squat, youtube threw a cliff bar ad at me, with a woman who was cliff diving smiling underwater. Which is funny because not only do clif bars look like... well.. But the cliffdiving lady as well...
@ 12:15 the kitchen sink in today's houses means much less because of dishwashers / mainly used to wash vegetables / a sink in the island might be a better choice

This is a rental place,,,Zip line would be a liability......LOL

Small?
"I feel like you're only here for the zipline"
@@immortal_hades5541 the zipline or the whisky hatch, or a bit of both 🤷🏻♂️

Crazy how different it is now. Awesome!

In Australia, it's just called laundry, that's it no room, just laundry. Great work, love it all.
@21:24 I just remembered why I subscribed to this channel.
I just saw that part, and it made me laugh!
WOW!!!!! It looks so good. When I saw the first video tour of the house when you bought it I was really thinking it was a wild looking crazy house that was so horribly laid out. You corrected so much stuff to make it into a normal code compliant house with safe character. Amazing work! I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.
WOW! just WOW. Proud of you.
That barrier around the AC looks a little close to the unit, maybe its a foot but I always go with 2' to be safe.
i was just thinking about the cabin about 4 days ago. It looks Gr8 i hope your return comes back swiftly for yall
You have already accomplished an amazing amount of work, or someone you hired has accomplished an amazing amount of work. Kudos to you or them.
As much as construction and contractors are a pain, it is kind of fun to see all of the changes and progress to the projects... as long as you aren't the guy paying for it... or dealing with contractors. It's going to be a gorgeous vacation house. Nice job!
No, man. It looks absolutely amazing.
Can't wait to see what you do once the trades are done and out.

Anyhow, thanks for the recap clips inbetween. Made it much easier to see what changes happened. Love how everything is coming along.
They use the stilts for putting up dry wall and mudding it.. don't have to move ladders around the room.😅
Looks great! Glad Portland Millwork took good care of you. They are the best
Great work... So much has happened! Can't wait to see all the finishing you all are doing in it.
Jason “Vila”. Love these episodes of the house. Would love to see more of the install of things. Love the channel. One of these days I will subscribe to Patreon.
Looks good, I would have expected you to make one of your great Barnwood doors for the Main bathroom door, instead of a pocket door.
I strongly suggest you rethink the surround on the A/C. It needs to breathe. Check manual for clearances but in general less restriction to air around that bad boy is better.
True mark of an Oregon home: Marvin windows and doors 😂 makes me miss home
Your wife’s design insight is AMAZING!!
Some solid graft going on! It's very exciting to see it come together.
Superb progress! 🎉 Well done, I can't wait for you to start putting your own stamp on it. Looking forward to the Germany episode too! Wood rocks! Peace out. 😊
Lot of nice progress, soon you will have to build a workshop there. Lots of cabinets to build
Looking good! Can’t wait for my first invite to the cabin 🥰
Craig that swing looks solid!
I may be biased, but I can't wait for that to see that TileBar material! Great work so far.
Why have you got Marvins windows, he’s going to be annoyed when he finds out.😊
ha ha!
The place is looking great! Made some important changes and upgrades.
However, I think you are making a major mistake with just a half- bath upstairs. A shower for smelly, active kids that is in their space will keep up the downstairs bathrooms for those sleeping downstairs. Just a consideration.
Ha! I just commented asking about a shower
Those woods in the back are just awesome!
Awesome build!! Just a heads up, you may not have enough room for air flow around your outdoor HVAC condensing unit. Check the manual for clearances

Jason, you son of a gun. I’m a big fan of your work. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like the cleanest work site I've ever seen lol. Honestly surprised it's comin along this far. Have fun and try not to succ too many lints.
If you play golf with the builder it is a business expense. Cabin is coming along nicely. Should be a great place to relax and get away.
Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see the hardscaping go in!
golfing = not business expense
making a video of you golfing = business expense
we just had those same windows put in about a month ago. they look awesome!
In the UK we have a classic comedy series; Only Fools and Horses. One of the most famous sketches is “Trigger’s broom”…….

I’d love to see you build some teakwood outdoor furniture made for outside.
I see progress, beautiful beautiful progress.
I like the "This Old House" style into.
It will be fantastic. Kind of wonder how much it would have cost if you just built a new home from the ground up.
That new place is looking good.
ROFL High Dessert. looks great Bro.
I knew I liked Craig! He’s a lefty like me 😃
Love the upgrades/redo. You should replace the decking with Trex (or any other composite). It is (near) zero maintenance. And, no splinters 🙂
My son has liked watching the cabin updates with me before bed. He pointed out the beard is getting a little more grey from when you showed prior clips 🤣🤣🤣

New House. Looks positive.
So excited for you! Doing some great work. :]
Everything looks great. Can't wait to see it finished. Only thing, I still think that staircase in the entryway is in the wrong location. Not sure where to put it.
Do you have a hand held shower head for the bench as well as a regular shower head??
Might be a good idea
the surround around the ac unit should be moved another foot or two out, or made of something that doesn't block airflow
The right way to do things! In my condo they had the electrical remade, but they left the old one(s!) there. A sea of cables, and you don't know what the hell they are!

cedar shakes have a more rough appearance, those are cedar shingles. Think along the lines of live edge and milled lumber.
@2:29 I was expecting a Policy Genuis spot after that clip...
Video posted 5 minutes ago, over 700 view already, good for you Jason!
Video posted 59 minutes ago and 9,189 views, good for you Jason
Video posted 4 hours ago and 36,639 views. Now you're just showing off.
New owner, new eye and perspective. Good for producing plenty of neuro chemistry. 🇦🇺👴🏻
Really good progresse, lot of structural issue done, bravo.
Un vrai beau projet même si cela est un gros investissement ;)
I'd definitely consider adding foundations beneath the kitchen so you can have the sink under the window. Otherwise I think you'll regret it later.
YIKES!! I would have been tempted to just get a bulldozer and level it. Then start over.
Should definitely move the stairs from the hall to the living area.
Double insulation between the master bedroom and the kid’s room means they won’t hear your patented domino joiner technique 👌🏻
Loved the suck up lent joke 😂😂😂

Garage door opener. Will you install a wall mount garage door opener and eliminate the overhead door opener? That's my suggestion.
looks like that beam isn't holding up the loft so much as holding up the roof.
Gotta love "can of worms" projects.
Omg! Major bucks!
Firewood shed?? Would love to see you build one and show on the channel.
My friend has a house at the first hole green.
What you should have done in the kids room is where the big box was you could have put the bed up there it would have been a little cubby?
Movable kitchen island with an electric cook top. Put a double stack of ovens built into a seperate wall.
I like It, looks so much better! Good Humor Man! Ice Cream! Dammit now I want Ice Cream......
With the cost of retrofitting everything, wouldn't have been cheaper to tear down and rebuilt from scratch? Could it be zoning issues? Good video.
There are few times I can go with "F it, we'll just redo it all." Mystery electrical is on that list.
Maybe consider having the front door swing out?
You might reach out to ModustrialMaker about you concreate plans. Do a colab or something. It would be cool. A learning experience for both of you.
Maybe have the bedroom door next to the front door open in?
17:43 as soon as Jason went to squat, youtube threw a cliff bar ad at me, with a woman who was cliff diving smiling underwater.
Which is funny because not only do clif bars look like... well..
But the cliffdiving lady as well...
You'd better start a Golf Channel!!!!.
how about a collab with Atlanta water features for the whole front as a waterfall an pond.
@ 12:15 the kitchen sink in today's houses means much less because of dishwashers / mainly used to wash vegetables / a sink in the island might be a better choice
