John, thank you. You made it clear why, for me vinyl lives in the art on the covers. Who knew dust was bipolar? I would have said the only bipolar thing in my house was my auntie.

Very nice set up better than a lot of static videos I have watched. I started with a zero stat gun and found it to be annoying to use. I did my own testing with toilet paper to show by just pulling a record out of an anti static inner sleeve that it is indeed full of a static charge as the toilet paper sticks to the record. but I also found that loading that very fine brush with just a mist of my basic cleaner spray with is a very small amount of alcohol and distilled water that it the toilet paper will no longer stick to the record. So while the record is on the platter I mist the brush and do a pass around the record and I have had no issues with static my records play quiet and noiseless. Could you use your nice set up with the static measuring device to show if a misted brush will kill the static? I can't afford one of those so the toilet paper is the only way I have available haha!

Thank you for your question. Yes, the "static field meter" will measure any static on a surface (the meters are approx. $300 and are readily available from many sources). Basically, adding moisture to the record will control the static especially since our records are hydrophobic and cannot themselves absorb moisture. I would say just try to minimize the amount of moisture on the record as possible, in other words, I don't think that it's a good idea to have a stylus running through a damp or wet surface.

@@johncandelino5982 I spray a mist in the air and let the brush just pass through. The record is not wet. I think this is similar to the Disc washer from back in the 70's when you would put the fluid on the brush and take it around the record. Very similar and It must have had the same effect to minimize static as well. Thanks for the reply!

@@cdev55 Fair enough! Any addition of moisture will reduce static. Well done! All the best!
