    No problems with hearing things twice, great for people watching for the first time, the worst thing someone can do is to do things blindly, always ask, you won't look foolish, you will if you don't.
    The Brittany ferries desk used to be in a bar area on the left, sad to see all the change!
    You'd definitely benefit with one of those Insta 360 cameras, if I come across one I'll let you know.
    I'll never be able to drive again but any new drivers I speak to I'll point them in your direction, so informative, thanks for that!

      I try to show practical things as well as the interesting things 😁 Yes things have changed a lot, they’ve built a big new building too, some sort of new passenger area I think but it’s not operating yet.
      It’s nice to know you enjoy the channel. Take care. 😁

    Another great video. When you said a rough guide. I thought you might mean it was bit bouncy. Last 3 crossings I did there was 60kph winds and 5 meter swells for the pretty much the whole 9 1/2 hour crossing.
    We've still got the old Super Fast boats that did the Italy, Greece run from Ancona in the 90's. Getting on and of with a Road Train is a bit tricky from the Tasmania side as there is a tight left hander to get onto the link span, and the back trailer really cuts. However most of the time the Road Trains only use the centre 2 lanes of the ferry. Most of the internal signs on the boats are still in Italian and Greek.
    I hope you're a better sailor than I am...it's not unusual for me to be sick bay.
    I did manage to get escorted to sick bay by the purser, in Dover, while the boat was tied to the quay, before it left.

    I used to go out of Portsmouth with coaches to do the Normandy trips. Going out to France was easy. Coming back into Portsmouth was murder. It could take up to an hour to get off the boat through passport control and round to the terminal to collect the passengers. ( they came off the boat and to the terminal on a port bus). Absolutely murder.

    • @GBtrucklady
      @GBtrucklady  Месяц назад

      Yes it can still take a couple of hours to get out, which means trying to get off in a “ferry movement” is very risky. 😁

    Hi, as i'm sure you are aware that most of us have to renew our DCPC next month. The DVLA have been putting out a lot of info on the internet. What intrigued me was it said if your freighting into Europe you must have a European DCPC. I thought we were all the same, do you know any different please.

    • @GBtrucklady
      @GBtrucklady  Месяц назад

      As we are only in geographical Europe now, from what I understand, there is an option being introduced where drivers who only work in UK can take a slightly shorter, modified DCPC but if you drive or are likely to drive in EU you will still need to take the standard one as we have been doing. I suggest you contact your training provider just to check. 😁

      Not easier or harder just different. We’ve always had to do customs paperwork for certain countries even before Brexit, Swiss, Andorra, Gibraltar, Turkey to name a few. 99% of it’s done online and using barcodes. We have a brilliant young transport manager who is very on the ball, if there’s any problem she will sort it out quickly.

    I think it’s abhorrent in this day and age and having to share cabins,it’s just pure profiteering by Brittany ferries and to think the new ship due on the route next year will be even worse with these so called “pod” arrangements..
    The last thing you want after doing a night shift is sharing a cabin with someone who wants to play on his phone or even worse “talk to me😂”
    They need to take a look at Stena line as you’ve normally got a cabin to yourself.

      Brittany Ferries, started by French farmers to get their produce to UK markets, think they’ve lost the plot nowadays. As for the ‘deck marshal’, any relative of the current PM? Toolmakers son.
