- Today we are checking out what is on my modded 3ds. I recently modded my 3ds and have been loving it so far! I will be showcasing the games, homebrew, and more that I have put on my modded 3ds. Modding your 3ds really gives it a second life with all of the homebrew and apps that are available.

Before modding my 3ds, I looked for the "pros and cons" type videos, but almost all of them listed little to no cons. I thought it was strange, but I figured I'd go for it and hope for the best.
I quickly learned that there are zero reasons why you wouldn't mod your 3ds these days. I use my 3ds more now than I did back when it first launched.
Yeah there’s really no need to keep it stock nowadays. What games have you been playing on it since modding?
@@FranchisePlayyer I was always interested in Project X Zone, so I've been into that, as well as playing lots of CTGP7 for Mario Kart 7.
I think the only con is that you risk bricking your 3ds and nothing else
$15 for that condition? What a steal. Thought I got a great deal in 2019 for $75. 😮
I got super lucky dude it seems like most goodwills sell all of their high value stuff online now
@@FranchisePlayyer I’ll be lucky to see a Wii game case with a disc in it at my local GW.
I just paid $210 AU for a poor condition XL today after giving up on finding a good condition one. Going to case swap it and restore it over the coming weeks but the price of decent units has gone crazy in Australia at least
I got my "New 3DS XL" back in late 2020 at a pawnshop for cheap because they said the cartridge slot wouldn't read games, I talked them down from $30 to $25 (including tax) and bought it. It was missing the stylus but I bought a replacement on eBay. I fixed the cartridge slot with a toothpick (one pin was slightly misaligned) and it reads games fine. I still Jailbroke/modded it and it was my main one until I got a new 2DS XL (it just feels better in the hand) I've got about 200 games from different systems on mine, about 50 of them are 3DS games. I still play it a decent amount.

The new models of 3ds also run super nintendo natively. On top of ds and gba. Ds I think might only be native thru a flashcart or actual game cartridge. The ones I have go thru bootstrap and I don't think that's native.
@@robmalcolm8042pretty sure twilight menu++ runs the roms in ds mode, so it can be natively running
@zekmaster644 yeah I think it was compatibility at 100 percent that I wasn't sure of but yes I've since known it's native. Which is great if you don't have the cart.

I cannot recommend the YoKai Watch games enough, they’re genuinely so fun! YKW3 is my favorite of the ones on the 3ds, and the blasters games are really fun too.
I’ve heard great things about the YoKai series

Checkpoint is a beaut cause you can inject the saves into another 3ds regardless of accounts/miis. So you can resume progress across consoles

I zoned out halfway through, so forgive me if I missed you already having done this one - one thing I recently tried on my modded 2DS XL was using NSUI to inject GBA games onto the 3DS home screen. So now I've got Pokekon Fire Red/Lead Green, Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald. You can choose your own cover art for them etc too. Well worth doing. Seems overly tedious, but realistically only takes minutes to set up and convert to a CIA for good. IMO it's a way better option than using Twilight++, navigating it, loading games up etc. Next up, I'll use the NDS Forwarder to get me some NDS classics.
Thanks I really enjoyed modding the 3DS! Oh wow no I haven’t done that but sounds way more convenient and super cool to have the custom cover art. Can you do that with original DS games too?
@@FranchisePlayyer I'm not entirely sure how the NDS forwarder works, but it does tend to be lumped in with the rest of the Homebrew stuff on installation. I've only just started to try these things and I just wanted my two fav Pokemon gens, which are GBA, so the NDS Forwarder didn't work for me. I'm going to try NDS for original soon, but I'm fairly certain that's exactly what the NDS forwarder is for: DS and DSi games.
I'm in a rabbit hole now, because I've just found out you can run some PS1 games on the New 3DS gen consoles using specific settings, with CIAs and a PS1 injector... That's what I'm attempting right for the afternoon.
I was pretty surprised that the 3DS could emulate ps1 games, from what I’ve heard it’s not the greatest but still pretty interesting to even have the option. What ps1 games are you looking forward to playing?
Try putting your games in folders it makes searching for games a lot easier

awesome video awesome games awesome color as well!! i have a white n3dsxl and its really great, my family could never afford one growing up but my cousin had one and, generally, just living/growing up in my pre teen years during the 3ds era, i get a lot of nostalgia from it even though i never owned one myself. hope you have lots of fun bro, the 3ds is kinda crazy once its modded lol hella possibilities

@@FranchisePlayyer I mostly play the mainlaine pokemon games, metroid games (samus returns and some older ones i emulate), and tomodachi life!!!
Hshop used to be the ultimate place to go until they deleted like 95% of all rom hacks and the like. It's still good if you are looking for 3ds stuff but not really for anything else.

i just modded currently waiting for Kid Icarus to download.. i worked at a Goodwill for 1yr and 4 months we had that bosses let us fr have a lot of stuff i build my retro collection outta there.. from a N64, GameBoy SP, 3ds, DSi XL, New 3ds XL, Ps2 OG & Slim, Ps3, PS Vita & game included .. i would never thought my dream would fall through

@@FranchisePlayyer i wouldnt say rare more like games of my interests like from my childhood but i remember gettin my 2nd copy of Def Jam FFNY & Vendetta, WWF No Mercy & WM 2000 unwrapped and new, Max Payne 1 & 2, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, i remember seein a Game Gear but i didn’t get that
i glad i got my new 3d xl i still keep it glad i modded my 3ds i might factory whipe it too install the new hombrew

Now you need Nimbus which is Pretendo which gets you back online though only a few games are supported yet
New 3ds can run PS1 games and some N64 but old 3ds sadly can't. I have a purple old 3ds which has served me well but wish I could get a new 3ds
Ghost eShop also has orignal DS games

@@FranchisePlayyerI’m pretty sure all games are supported, whether or not you’ll find anyone for online play is another story tho now that everyone has moved on to the switch
But the only way a 3ds runs ds games natively is thru the real game cartridge or flashcart right? I know bootstrap which is usually what's loaded when a ds game is digitally on your 3ds is not native and is something like gba runner but for nds.
You really don't need twilight menus to play og ds games. You just need a forwarder. Then you can play it stright from the homescreen.

Hey quick question, this metallic red color of your New 3DS is beautiful, im from Germany and apparently the only way to get this colorway here is to buy one from Japan and Region swap it to Europe to get the desired language. Idk why we only have the metallic blue here...
Did you have to do similar or was this metallic red 3DS XL available to the US?

@@FranchisePlayyer works well it’s pretty much just freeshop it has all the 3ds games but also some ds games and most digital exclusives and one thing I like is the fact you can search by system so if you only want to see the 3ds games just search 3ds

Does the new 3ds handle 128gb well? I got an old 3ds for a cheap price and modded it and now I just want more but know barely anything about modding in general.
I haven’t had any issues with my memory card so far. Have fun with the modded 3DS they are amazing

I've got a 256 GB in mine and it takes a few seconds to boot, but it's not bad, I have around 200 diff games installed on mine and they all work

Thanks dude, and I used a guide from the channel Anton Retro it was pretty quick. I guess there is always some risk to modding a console but as long as you follow the guide you should be good!

I still don’t really have no idea how to get hshop. The QR code on the site wouldn’t be recognized so I tried the files as well and it still wouldn’t eork
I had the same problem I scanned the qr code with a phone than I switched to pc and worked

I can't MOD my 3DS and buying one that's already HACKED at a $150 cost its still NOT WORTH IT.
They are super easy to mod just follow a guide on RUclips
