I was going to comment on the last video and had to now comment half way through this one, where Lydia is debriefing about the trip, and where she said she was emotional. I then got emotional myself. I visited Bonnie Scotland, West Highlands often as a child with my mum, dad and sister. We used to stay by the Lochs, explore, play and go fishing. But I remember (and still do my family) me saying, as an 8 year old little girl, "I could die here". Now that may sound dark but even then I must have realised there was something magical, spiritual, peaceful and I guess heaven like. I think it feels like you have met your maker. You do get emotional...for all the right reasons. I have loved you documenting this Lydia. Driving north through beautiful Lancashire, Cumbria and into Scotland showcases our beautiful islands and reminds us of something greater than ourselves. It reminds us humanity and our spiritual self that we so need today in this world. If you can, take a road trip to the west Highlands and fall in love ❤

Absolutely Lydia. It stirs the soul, something bigger, yet holding and safe in equal measures. It's like you've gone back to your inner self, a belonging, a yearning you never knew you had. Maybe it's a connection to who we were thousands of years ago when all we had was the earth beneath us, the stars above us and the life within us. It will stay with you Lydia. You went there for a reason ❤️

@jolindley9715 I remember saying exactly the same thing to my cousin, Fraser, on the edge of Lake Tekapo in New Zealand. I think he thought I was a bit weird, but when nature speaks to your soul..... Fraser was born in NZ, but we are both children of Scottish mothers. The landscape in Scotland and NZ is stunning, and there are some similarities.

I really loved that you shared your trip to Scotland with us! This has been your best yet, in my opinion! I loved your art that you got while there. I am much older now, but started collecting Christmas ornaments from the places that we would travel to the year we got married. I always got something with the 51:59 dated year on it and something that had to do with that place. I have a special tree that I hang them on and every year, its a trip down memory lane for me. I can look at the date year and know when it was that we were there. I have lots of fun memories from them. This was so beautiful!

So nice of you to share your trip!

PMS Symptoms are super common! Ive been tracking my cycle for years and it has helped me tremendously in understanding why im feeling the way im feeling and not being so hard on myself when its literally biology. It has also helped my relationship with my S/O because it explains to him why I am feeling the way I am. Its a huge step in understanding your body that a lot of women dont do! Its so amazing to understand how the body works and being able to explain that based off of the normal fluctuation of hormones with your cycle. I hope it gives you the clarity and understanding you are seeking. Best of luck Lyds!

I am originally from N. Ireland, now living in Pennsylvania, USA. My husband and girls lived for 5 years on the west coast of Scotland, and did not go as far North as you did on this trip Lydia.....what an absolute treat to watch this.....I love your wistful and emotional rememberings of a glorious trip, and also Ali's enthusiastic love of nature and wildlife is very endearing. We will be over in the UK in May and plan to visit our lifelong friends in the area we once lived on the west coast.....but I have a yearning now to take some extra days and see some of these places.....it might not be the same without the glorious sparkling frost, but I hope we get to do it. I really resonate with wanting to go into galleries....I find artist's views of local landscapes to be magical. Thank you again for vlogging this trip. x

I have been in full menopause for 18 years and wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's been a very long nightmare of feeling unwell both physically and emotionally, suffering through every night with hot flushes that drench me every 5 minutes ( I'm not exaggerating )and make me feel as though I'm literally cooking from the inside out.The sheet and blanket is thrown off me in a panic. Then follows cold chills from being soaking wet.It repeats over and over and keeps me awake ALL night. The resulting exhaustion has negatively changed every aspect of my life. I cry at everything and have been suffering from depression the whole time. Anti depressants and counseling have done nothing to help my extreme emotions. I've gone from very slim to very overweight yet I eat a quarter the food I used to. Exercise has had no effect and the impact on my self esteem has been devastating. I've had absolutely no libido for the duration, no matter how hard I try. My marriage has just ended as a result of it all which I'm absolutely and totally devastated about.💔😭😭😭 And I've tried everything possible, both medically and psychologically to combat it, without any success. HRT and black cohosh did help lessen my symptoms but unfortunately I was not allowed to continue on either of them due to break through bleeding which is a medical indicator that it needed to be ceased through fear of other medical repercussions, including a greater risk of breast cancer. I'm hoping mine is an extreme case but sadly I've talked to many others who have suffered just as much and for just as long. I don't mean this horribly but please be careful what you wish for. I'm 60 now and it appears to be still getting worse, not better. My drs have no answers and very little empathy even though they are both ( younger ) women. I pray you don't suffer as I have. It really has ruined my life at this point.😢💗 Xx

Thank you for taking us along on your beautiful and wonderful visit to Scotland, the land of my family's heritage. I understand completely how you can be so drawn to a place that you get emotional and I also truly understand how you feel about being close to water. I have my own places that I've traveled that have brought that emotion to my heart, mind and spirit and have had trips that completely and emotionally just pour over me. Being close to the water makes me feel close to God. I feel like with each wave I can feel His heartbeat and with each sound I can hear His breath and it touches me to my core. I too collect local artisan's work of the places I've been to and they populate my home with sweet memories everywhere I look. You are building your history and curating it with thoughtful consideration, so your home is becoming the story of you. Very well done. Most people don't see the importance of these things until they are over and then they regret not doing it, not savoring it, not being moved by it and definitely not having physical pieces to remember it. I've enjoyed this tremendously. Thank you.

its strange that I and many others will fly without thought from the uk to the other side of the world to the Maldives or Mexico , which took 14hrs plus yet we think twice to go 11 hrs in our own country , I think we all do it . We went on a Scottish road trip up to Edinburgh and the isle of Arran , Aviemore skiing in the Cairngorms and it was as amazing as any other place , we saw wild deer at the side of the road !!

My gentleman friend bought 5 Harris Tweed jackets over 40yrs ago on a trip there. I wear them now. They’re barely showing signs of time & I get compliments every time I leave the house in one.

Lydia, I used to have menstrual pain and it improved considerably after having three children however, after I was done having kids, I had a uterine ablation, recommendation by my gynecologist. It was life-changing. No more headaches no more pains down my leg and no more cramps and no more periods!! so once you decide, you do not wish to have children or you were done having children, I would highly highly recommend this procedure. It is an easy outpatient procedure.❤ meanwhile, you can take an NSAID a couple two or three days before your cycle is supposed to come. If you wait until the symptoms begin, it is worthless taking it because it needs to build up in your system to be effective. Good luck!❤

I would happily watch it with accompanied lovely music ❤ I am also looking forward to seeing what you do with the Harris tweed. You're style is so inspiring. It is nice to see how you packed simple chic clothing. It will never get old to watch. Thanks again

As a sidenote, it’s great that you’re tracking your health. If you’re not feeling the best you can. I have an autoimmune disease, actually three. It took 11 years to find out I had the first one. Keep at it and good for you for sharing, because so many people suffer in silence.

My partner and I moved from England ( Shropshire for me, and Leeds for him) 6 years ago to live in Scotland. Although we have to be within cummutable distance from Glasgows West end due to my partners work, we just love having the Scottish countryside on our doorstep. It really is beautiful, unlike any other. I thought Shropshire and Yorkshire were beautiful, but Scotland is something else! We are planning a trip up north soon so thank you for the Inspo.
