I wish I played chess well enough to justify owning such a beautiful board and chess pieces

I have pretty big windows in the room where I play in my house, so glossy boards don't work for me. Still, I wish you had shown the Zagreb Elite pieces on that glossy board just to see how the pieces and the board blend. I love those pieces, but I feel like they require lighter squares on the board you use.
Thanks for another excellent video, Alex. I'm loving the short videos too!

For some reason I wasn't getting notifications to these videos so I've got some catching up to do!
Great in-depth breakdown as usual, Alex. that's a very compelling board.

Yes, I also often don't get the notifications that people comment so I end up finding these comments much later! Either way, thank you for watching!

Nice informative video. I am a big fan of HoS, and recently purchased the beautiful Canterbury pieces. I too questioned which board to get, and how the pieces would contrast was an issue. I ended up getting the coral ash and bird's eye maple with a satin finish, and it really compliments the pieces. I may get the Zagreb gilded combination set in the future, which has a glossy black and white board. The gilded red mahogany pieces are easily visable on it, but I don't think I would play an ebony set on it.

Yes that coral ash board is very nice ! I've considered it time and time again, if it wasn't so similar to my other board! I think once you find the perfect combination of chess pieces and board, it makes all the difference!

I loved the Turin set on the new board. Beautiful new board.

Thank you! I like this board better than my previous Elm Burl Birds eye maple for some of my chess sets!

Thanks for another informative video. My only comment is that, whilst the glossy board looks shiny and smooth, it could create a challenge when in use since it creates a mirror reflection from the light that comes from the window, and the blinds. This might pose a distraction during a game. I do not know how it would reflect if you were using an artificial light like a fluorescent indoors. In all, this is a good video showing the comparison between a matted finished board and a glossy one.

    I prefer the satin finish

Glossy finish looks nice but it's definitely not for playing due to excessive reflection. The first maple board is nice.
Ah, and yes, put more videos short and long. I enjoy watching them.

Thank you for watching! I think the reflection isn't as distracting as I previously thought, because when I was considering the board, the reflection is something I was concerned about! There is also the matte version of the same board too, and I think it's a little bit less expensive!

I'm commenting about 2/3rd through the video but that glossy board is pretty, but not so good for filming because it's nearly a mirror for your window blinds. My personal preference is for a satin finish, but even the matte finish is way better for your video.
