Aly's scores should not be so close to Maroney's. I think Aly Raisman is one of the greatest floor workers of all time, and a brilliant human being, but her Amanars were very overscored!
To be fair in 2012 every single half decent vault scored at least a 9.1 and lots of vaults with decent landings scored in the 9.3s. A 9.766 was a huge jump from a 9.4 especially in 2012
I feel like the problem with the Code is that it penalizes any deviation from perfect form in such a way that McKayla's and Simone's crossed toes receive the same deduction as Aly's crossed legs. I think other events could take a page from bars scoring, where a handstand that finishes up to 10* from vertical receives no deduction. It allows for a small window between "perfect" and "no deduction", and I think it should apply in other ways too.
@@gymnasticfan9148 I mean it's not really fair to compare vaults from different times, especially not a 2016 vault to one in 2012. I definitely agree that Aly was overscored to a degree, but it wasn't as egregious as everyone is making it out to be. Aly's scores aren't as ridiculous as Mykayla's 9.6 E for an OOB vault with a big hop
Maria Paseka's form just eats at me. Literally NO ONE ELSE has the same form issues. At one point her feet were at least a shoulder width apart on her block. How she made EFs so many times blows my mind. That's an Amanar with a Tkatchev root.
Outstanding! Maroney, Biles, and Rebecca are just vaulters that make you go wow! Their shoulder angles and ease just makes everyone else have several seats. Johnson just and that damn step! If anybody has a video of Johnson presenting to the judges with confidence like Maroney, Rebecca or Biles, please upload.
I don't think it's a confidence issue so much as she was a powerful twister and I don't think she ever quite mastered the control that someone like, say, Biles has. Biles has an air awareness that's nearly superhuman. Combine that with her positively explosive power, and you've got an untouchable GOAT. Tbf I think Shawn on BB and FX was more confident.
probably the problems on WAG programs of the country. they prioritise beam and bars more, rather than balancing out for all events for the good of their team
Sorry if I missed any score, this one was really hard to even find the scores. I know they competed at different CoP but I think that this remains a good comparison.
I think the main reason for Gabby’s vault being judged lower is that Shawn and Aly had more air and height where as Gabby is a phenomenally fast twister. On vault there is more weight placed on the air and height vs being a quick twister. However, Gabby was definitely for sure an underrated vaulter. I would have like to have seen her do a tskuhara vault to try and make vault finals.
Maroney and Biles are light years better than anyone on the Amanar vault but they both had form issues to prevent them from receiving better execution scores .
Heh, heh! I notice that the BIG smile is reserved until AFTER the successful vault has been completed! Frankly, I'd be worried as hell before I started!
Surprised that Yeo Seojeong wasn't on the Rudi list.. maybe due to inconsistency? But her form in the air is lovely; she maintains a layout position throughout much better than most other gymnasts
Aly Raisman is an amazing gymnast but those Amanars featured here had awful body position in the air. No comparison to the vaults by Simone or McKayla that are featured here
I think Gabby Douglas and Rebeca Andrade were underscored on the Amanar. Aly Raisman and Shawn Johnson are overscored. But the top 4 (Marony, Biles, Cheng, and Hong) are objectively the best Amanars ever done. As far as DYTs go, Jordan Chiles is underscored. I actually think hers is the best one visually. Kyla Ross appears slightly overscored. I would rank them: 1st Jordan Chiles, 2nd Gabby Douglas, 3rd Cheng Fei, and Kyla Ross 4th. Also, how come we don't get to see Double Twisting Tsukaharas? I wish more gymnasts did that vault.
Gabby lacked height and distance, she was clearly deducted for it. In my opinion Shawn had one of the best forms in the air (no leg separation in the entry, pointed toes, can't se a crossed legs) but her block wasn't good and always underotated.
It makes me laugh how people are bitching about Skinner's execution scores but not Jade Carey's. It just proves the bias in gym fans. The comments section is amusing.
I will never get over aly raisman lol getting a 9.0 and above on vault. She looks so heavy, and her forms atrocious. One of the many reasons why they won the team finals. If their same team was competing today with Russia they’ll never hold a candle on them. She’s always overscored even on uneven bars.
@@gymnasticfan9148 Yeah, it's kind of an absurd statement when you see the margins by which the US team won. A single vaulter having an inflated score on one event would make absolutely no difference in the final results. All three of the American vaulters could have fallen and still won the team gold.
@@gymnasticfan9148 no the score was always inflated on vault and floor!!!! That’s why US always won the team finals. And even then shes in 3 events and she’s always over-scored the hell out. It's not a high enough value for gymnasts to risk tenths instead of sticking to a cleaner DTY. If you can get a 9.5E score like Chiles, why upgrade and risk injury or lower scores?
O Amanar da Rebeca em 2016 era outro comparado com agora. Tinha menos altura e era menos dinâmico do que o da Aly. Hoje em dia nunca que a Rebeca tiraria menos do que ela.
She didn't have much power (and had a 0.3 step in Varna EF). Now that she is phisically stronger (2021+), she only performed once in the Olympics final, but the landing wasn't good. If she performs next year, with a good landing, she can score 9.5+
@@PhenixJoe I don't think that either Aly nor Shawn get more "height" than Gabby. Shawn gets more "distance" and has equally good form. But Gabby's looks higher to me. Shawn also has such an obvious execution deduction on the landing that it should amount to a bigger deduction than Gabby's lack of distance. As far as Aly Raisman goes, yes hers is slightly higher than Gabby's, but her form is way worse and deserves a higher deduction. It's the same reason why Aliya Mustafina is ranked so low on the DTY despite having good landings. They're basically doing exactly the same thing with their legs, only Aly is doing a more difficult vault. If anything Aly's leg form is even more egregious. Yet her execution score is higher than Mustafina for some reason. One of the problems I have with the height and distance rules is that they are so subjective that there is no standard for how high or how far a vault is supposed to be. I remember some years back (probably over 10 years ago) seeing lines painted on the floor where the gymnast got a deduction if they landed behind a certain line and a bonus if they cleared the second or third line. But they took that away for some reason. Yet it was a more transparent metric to use when judging distance. Similarly, a vertical yard stick with line marking the minimum required height would also be useful. As it stands now, it's all the judges "guessing" about how high or far someone landed with no actual measurement. They also should be more transparent about just how much of a deduction they are taking. Is it .05, .1, or more? At least with the landing rules, they came up with a clear way of distinguishing between a .1 step/hop and a .3 step/hop. But that was after Shawn Johnson competed. If she was being judged under this CoP, I believe her execution score would be lower than Gabby Douglas based on her landings.
Maroney's amanar is superior to Biles. Not only are her lines and extension better, I prefer her arm positioning on landing. You can see with Simone that she lands with her arms down by her legs, whereas Maroney lands with hers in front of her, which imo just looks better.
