Well done! This is the best instruction video I have seen. I used to teach a commercial truck driving class. Qualifying why you do this or don't do that is the sign of a good instructor. Safety first! Thankyou!
As others have mentioned this is the best auto connect deck video on RUclips - thank you! I also want to especially thank you for the procedure at 10:30. My 2025R would not roll forward in neutral and fully engage the rear linkage. What I found was the PTO connection that is part of the lifting linkage was tilted up enough that when it got a bit over half way connected it would start to bind. I loosened all four bolts that hold the PTO bearing housing and retightened them with it fully engaged to the deck gear box PTO shaft. Now the tractor glides forward and engages the PTO like butter!
Awesome video, Justin. Picked up my 1025R yesterday and this definitely boosted my comfort level. Hopefully I can find a snowblower mount/dismount video that is as detailed as this one. I particularly like how you indicated the name of everything you are touching. This is especially important for those of us that have never sat on one of these. Thank you again.
This is by far the best video of this operation. It would be super awesome if you had another video explaining how to install and remove mid-linkage and the from backet. Some of us have to remove those so we can install snow blowers, etc. and it's not the most straightforward thing. You show enough of the context in this video to figure out that install, but a video just on that would be helpful.
Well, crap! Lol 1st, awesome vid! 2nd, it reminded me to raise everything after removing the deck, THEN dial the deck to the highest position! I haven't had issues with the on/off deck bit, but I know I've pranged the under carriage more than once. Thank you!!
Excellent video. I've been using a 2018 since new and learned a few pointers from this video even though my locking mechanism is somewhat different than the one in this video. Dealer fell far short in demonstrating mine. I've fumbled through some of these procedures as a result. Glad you made this. Thanks.
Thanks. Very good info. We bought our 2025 used with 100+ hr.s. The front mid mower hanger rod bracket was slightly bent/twisted. Also one of the clips was bent. Evidently the previous owner had something misaligned or hit something hard in use. No big problem to replace, just thought I mention for other users to give a quick look.
Same as your loader remove/install video ... Informative, sufficiently detailed, and useful. Perfect ! Would like to see a remove/install video of the snowblower attachment. That would cover the trio of what are probably the three most popular attachments for the 1 and 2 Series tractors. Thanks ...
In winter and spring I need to switch between snowblower, and mower deck attachments on the mid PTO of my 1025R. The bracket that attaches the mower deck has to come off before attaching the snowblower, and vice versa in the spring before I can attach the more deck again. I need to see a video on how to do this.
I like how you showed, up close, where the pto connects to the mower deck on install, and that you can put the mower in neutral and roll it forward and back if you need to. I have been having trouble getting the pto to connect correctly to the deck - it seemed to be off to one side.
Nice video. I still struggle with removing/re-attaching the deck on my X379. Would be nice to see how you guys do it. One of the hardest parts is getting the PTO spline back in the trans. Can sometimes take over 45 minutes of jiggering it around.
Make sure the splines on the male and female PTO drive line up properly. Look at the one on the tractor(mid PTO) and then rotate the one on the drive over mower deck to fit in the high and low spline teeth. This should make the connection smooth and easy. Sometimes the spline teeth on the mower deck can get turned so they don’t align.
Where should the pin be for the front bracket for the mower deck. I have three holes. Mine fell off and now I can't get my deck to load or unload properly
You didn't discuss anything about installing the mower. Do you put the mower height dial back to install? Do you lower the pto all the way down to install? There are 2 holes for the pin. Isn't the back pin for storing so you don't lose it? Also, why have adjustable height wheels if they are only for scalping? I was told wheels should be 1/8" above the ground to keep the cut height even.
Yes. It's safe. I used the bucket to scoop out a septic tank hole. The sides of the deck barely touched the dirt on runs in/out of the hole. I made a dirt ramp down as I went to get in/out of the hole as I dug to a depth of 5 foot. The deck was never an issue and I believe gave me ballast when loaded with dirt. 6-1/2 years later without any issues to the deck or tractor. I originally tried the backhoe but it wouldn't reach down far enough to do the job.
What you didn't mention is that the tractor must have the hardware kit to accept the deck. You can drive on and off all day and it won't connect. I'm not sure what else I need but the pto shaft and frame as well as the 2 front hooks are about $ 1500
nice video but it would be even better if you showed up close the loader lever position and an up close picture of the attachment bar that is on the deck.
The mower deck came off of my 1025r while it was being used to push some stuff around a couple of years ago. I never put it back on. But I just put a Frontier rotary cutter on it. It's working fine. But I noticed the belly mower pto receiver is down, but I can't move the height selector dial to raise it up. It's stuck. What can I do? I don't want to go over something with the mower connection receiver down and ruin it.
Look underneath at the linkage from the knob to the height adjustment underneath. I may be bound with dirt or corrosion. Or it could even be bent slightly. Mine loosened up and works better now that my tractor is over 6 years old. I sprayed some fluid film on the under side of the height lever mechanism and it helped. This know is not designed to move all that freely and sometimes feels like it's stuck especially when new.
Justin, Wonderful video, great instructional value, you really know your stuff. Now, my biggest problem is that NO ONE told me how to remove / replace the left and right SNOW BLOWER front adapter brackets and swap them with the MOWER DECK left and right front adapter brackets. And NO ONE told me how to remove / replace the MOWER DECK short shaft PTO and rear attachment fittings assembly and swap it with the SNOW BLOWER and its long, long PTO drive shaft kit. Oh BTW, PLEASE tell people they'll need a 18 MM socket, socket wrench, cheater bar and 18 MM box end / open end wrench for the "unique" John Deere hardware, plus needle nose pliers for the tiny cotter pins. My bloody knuckles bear testimony to my not having the correct wrenches. Fred with a JD 1025R + snow blower + mower deck + loader bucket in Redneck OR 97756
On my 2019 1025r, which I just purchased used, but only have 147 hours, the knob doesn't turn easy. The guy that sold it to me, private owner, told me that I have to have to have the tractor running and push the button and then turn the lever control at the same time to adjust the hight, maybe because is an older model? I see now, the hook ups aren't the same, I see no pins to be removed under the tractor.
No on 2019 just a lever that you lift up to disengage. Both sides are connected together and come out of the way in unison. One side will move both sides so you don't have to go to each side to do this. Same as in this video you can wiggle your deck slightly by hand to get that locking lever to move out of the way.
Well done! This is the best instruction video I have seen. I used to teach a commercial truck driving class. Qualifying why you do this or don't do that is the sign of a good instructor. Safety first! Thankyou!
This is the best comprehensive video for a new tractor owner that I've found! Actually covers all the steps, thank you so much!

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely something we will consider for a future how to video
Just bought a 2025R with the autoconnect and the shop went over everything with me but this video is even better. Thanks,
Excellent video! Thank you for putting this together. So many dealers just sell and don't provide this type of customer service. Great work.
Best removal and install video I have seen yet, great job.
Hey thanks for making this video! The tip about scooting the deck a little to get those pins unstuck saved me a lot of frustration, appreciate it!
Best video I've seen on john deere. I have a 1025r 2022.

Best video on installing/removing the mower deck I've seen. (And I've watched more than i care to count.) Thanks!!
Love to hear it!

Best one yet for the removal
A great help and well presented. Thank you 👍
Thanks for that tip, I’m going to try that. I wasn’t able to lift that tab up.
Great help. Good amount of detail. Thanks
Very well done in this video ! Best I have seen

Now I got paint the drive over plate on my, I like the yellow!😂
with the 2025R, and the higher mower deck setting, is it safe to keep the deck on, when you doing other work (front loader?)
Yes. It's safe. I used the bucket to scoop out a septic tank hole. The sides of the deck barely touched the dirt on runs in/out of the hole. The 3 point hitch doesn’t seam to lower completely to move snow with a blade. Do you know what I can do?

??

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE AUTO CONNECT. DEER SAYS IT SHOULD BE REMOVEDFOR THE BLOWER
