There is a dipstick made aftermarket for the Camaros with 8l. With a little modification it works for the trucks too. I also believe b&m makes one for all.
2017 GMC Sierra 6.2 8L90- had the standard issues little slip from a stop, 1-2 shift and 2-3 were not great. Would bang into 2nd sometimes if going slow downhill…..shuttered at 35mph when cruising. Added the Lube Guard and they stopped shuttering but did not fix the other issues. Fluid was changed 20k miles ago. Decided to go with the Mobile LV HP and it completely fixed everything. I would highly recommend anyone just go ahead and flush it out and put in Mobile LV HP and see what happens.
@LeTigre22 My truck seems to have similar issues and I wanted to try this out. I just wanted to ask if you ended up doing a complete flush out on it as in flushing out your torque converter as well?
@@badass1gdo you change it 3 times back to back and then drop the pan and replace filter last? And what do you need to do in-between those three changes to make sure the TC is flushed as well?
@@RyanCamarattathe idea is that you’re diluting the old fluid each time you drain and refill. After the first flush, the new fluid in the pan mixes with the old fluid in the converter. Then you drive for 500 miles, flush again. Another 500 miles, then flush again. By the third flush, there are only negligible diluted remnants of original fluid remaining. GM used to ask dealers to power flush the transposition with a special machine that connected to the transmission oil cooler lines, but it apparently damaged seals in the tranny so now they prescribe the triple flush.
Great video! Unfortunately it appears that clearance between the pan and exhaust varies slightly from vehicle to vehicle. I've been trying for a couple hours now and came across your video. I tried your method several times without any additional luck. It also looks like the sway bar keeps the pan from moving to far forward. I'll try again tomorrow.
Your Amazon link shows the black labelled bottles, but hopefully they send the blue labelled ones which is supposed to have been reformulated to absorb less moisture.
*Just a side note* If your truck is equipped with the stop/ start function you WILL NOT be able to remove the pan without dropping the exhaust. The stop-start accumulator will not allow you to remove the pan without the 6 upper exhaust bolts removed. And even then it is a tight squeeze. Hope this helps someone.
And if no one has pulled those exhaust nuts before you get to them then they should come out without any trouble. Everyone wants to over torque these and causes the next guy a headache.
I just did this, and even with ratcheting down the exhaust as far as it will go, the pan wouldn’t get past a few parts sticking down. I was able to get the filter out, wipe it all out really well and reinstall. My clearance for hose between the exhaust and tranny was also a lot less than this, so filling when hot was a task.

My truck just started making like a pop noise and at first i thought I had an exhaust leak and took it to the shop and they said a weld cracked and they welded it back. But I still kept hearing that pop noise like a backfire, so I would let it sit in neutral and rev it but no pops. Then when I’m on the road and gas it I hear pops like little backfires! And I hope it’s not my transmission so you think it may be the torque converter? :(
the only thing that you are changing when pull in gear and giving it the gas is your putting more pressure on your flex plate I would be looking for a crack in the flex plate
