Agreed that fuck DMD, but honestly the Charge Shot cheese as well as the various tricks I've seen in DMD runs helped a LOT. My favorites are Prop to Real Impact to kill Alto Angelos, and triple Pin-Up to Climax once or twice to stun Savior whenever he punches
I hate DMD in DMC4 as well but for (probably) the opposite reason, it’s too easy. DMD in DMC4 was so disappointing after the nightmare that was DMC3, I can probably count the amount of times I died in DMC4 on one hand and I died about 6 times that on Vergil 3 alone, it probably took me longer to beat Vergil 3 than it took me to beat all of DMC4. Of course DMC3 DMD isn’t even really that hard once you’ve played it a couple times but DMC4 was easy to begin with. At least DMD gives enemies an “okay” amount of health for combos.

That said i do think the easier DMD is a good thing considering the S Rank achievement would be impossible for nearly everyone if not. I think my favorite DMD is DMC5 though. And S-ranks in DMC4 are super easy unless you forget an orb stash, DMC4’s ranking system is terrible because of orbs, DMC5’s is too easy, I literally S ranked over half the game on my first playthrough of every difficulty but at least you don’t have to worry about orbs, and DMC3’s is psychotic, 100% in DMC3 requires you to SS rank all of DMD for one single piece of art, you also have to S rank and SS rank every mission on every difficulty, all while the game tells you to go outside (I did not make that up). Also DMC4 isn’t easy in comparison to DMC3 it’s just easy in general. DMC3 DMD gets easy once you get used to it and learn to abuse things like DTE, Royal Guard, and jump canceling. It feels more like a knowledge check than anything, if you know what you’re doing it’s a breeze but if you don’t you’re gonna get stomped. I can probably do a full playthrough of DMC3 DMD without dying once, maybe without even getting hit, that’s something I could absolutely never do in Ninja Gaiden, I wouldn’t even dream about doing that, there’s a reason it took 8 years for the first verifiable Master Ninja no damage run to be done in Ninja Gaiden 2. Also, why would the hardest difficulty being easy be a good thing? Doesn’t that completely defeat the purpose of having a harder difficulty in the first place? And achievements are supposed to be achievements, they’re supposed to be hard, you’re supposed to earn them. The people who go for those achievements are the people who would S rank DMD anyway even if it was DMC3 levels of hard. The real thing that needed changing was not the difficulty but the ranking system, DMC3 asks for far too much to get an S or even worse an SS rank. I know Capcom loves to make ridiculous ranking requirements (e.g. most of the Resident Evil games) but DMC3 was too far. I think Bayonetta got it mostly right other than ranking Alfheims, if you haven’t played Bayonetta they’re basically secret missions, imagine having to S rank secret missions every single time you tried to S rank a mission. My favorite DMD is DMC1 by the way, the game itself is actually fairly easy on DMD, (except for Mundus who went from the easiest boss in the game for me to the hardest boss in the game) easier than 3 and much harder than 4 and 5 but that’s not what really matters, DMC1 DMD is just fun to play and it’s the only game that made me actually care about rankings rankings. I did S rank every game on every difficulty (even DMC2) but I did that for the bragging rights, I S ranked DMC1 because I thought it was fun. S Ranks are hard but not masochistic like DMC3 and since the game is so short it makes S rank runs take like one sitting instead of days. DMC1 also just has the best enemy designs in the series by far which makes higher difficulties more fun.

That 2 hour requirment is not as strict as you might think. I got a full refund for Killer Instinct after about 4 hours of total playtime. However, the reason was that I spent those 4 hours trying to get the game to run properly, which I was unable to do.
Theres a Way to play every game with getting a refund no matter how much you play it not every games that soport offline gameplay like singleplayer games so if you get a game and turn off wifi on your router you Can play that game as much as possible just make sure you dont play it on wifi because that count as playtime but if you play offline it Will say how much you have played it but if you turn off your pc and turn on again it Will say how much you have played on wifi and you Can return it just make sure its only 14 days you have played it and only works on steam og my knoledge
Fun fact: in dmc5 during dantes gunslinger neutral using dr faust, if you press the fire button just as dante catches the hat he strikes a post while dealing damage to any enemy wearing a hat
