The off the cuff banter is always great. It gives us a inside track of who you really are in day to day life. It helps make you a real and everyday kind of person and not just some made up TV/ Reality Star. Makes me feel like I am at work bullshitting around with the boss and other techs in the shop.
I'm sure that within 6 months Giann will be an expert in automotive engineering and he could take over the entire channel. This would allow Benny to cruise around Sydney Harbour on his super yacht now that he has found a sea sickness cure.
42:00 Love the longer videos. Since watch time became the most important metric (for RUclips's algorithm) there's been a ton of content creators that started doing these (the longer less edited vids) and it's been good so far.
Same here. It's like hanging out with my mates in the workshop. Just talking nonsense, retelling old stories and figuring out how to get that damn bolt off :) Although there's one thing I envy you for: You're the only one wrenching in your shop. My tools are always somewhere because my brother-in-law freaking hates cleaning up after finishing his work (or in between for that matter). He's so happy to be done with it that he basically just yells "Tool drop!", you hear a clang and then he is gone. I don't mind cleaning up after him if I am there since he is the talent and I am the wallet. But sometimes I am not there so I have no freaking idea where he left the stuff and I run around aimlessly looking for my tools.
As someone who never comments, you guys are very entertaining, especially with the addition of Jian (idk how to spell) and the banter between you too. Also the fact that Benny says “I’m not smart enough for that” then whips out the exact date of when metric was first introduced in aus is hella funny
As common as I don't comment, I enjoy the banter. It's cool when gian ask random questions, not everyone is a expert and it's cool to see the non edited actual building it's a but more to real life hanging building in the shed
Yeah, I love the banter and interaction between Gian and Benny. Gian can get Benny to explain something that he's not following, which makes it easier for us to follow. And I'm always happy to see Benny just shoot the shit.
The "what does this button do" chat around the Cresta gave me an idea. I'm not a drag racing guy, and along the way I think I've lost track of what a bunch of stuff on the Cresta is doing. Maybe after you run the car next, walk us through a pass and explain what's going on? What's the CO2 shifter do? Why do you have the "bump in" button now? What are you ideally looking for the car to do at the start, with the turbo, converter, etc?
I normally don't comment but figured i would since you were curious. I've really been enjoying the direction the channel has been going. The 'chats', tangents and random side quests (GoPed) separate your channel from thousands of others and adds significantly more soul to the show. Its clear you guys have found your schtick that every other great channel has. Keep it up guys!
I like the longer videos more than under 20min ones. and I'll honestly watch anything involving the cresta, its a legend at this point. Also kevin43 doesnt like the color yellow
ADHD kinda sounds about rite. Just like Marty's glasses, the ones that know, know. Big thumbs up to you mate for keeping up the good fight. Some days it takes everything I have just to make it out of the house. Lastly, you have got to get Gian in for a ride in angry mode down the track. For science....and....maybe his reaction to the Cresta in full swing!!!
@@icebear_racing the suspension is set up at around 130% anti squat so in racing the springs aren’t doing much at all. The car separates on heavy acelleration.
Great content Benny. Have you ever considered like on some cars top mount on the coilover to be bagged they can be made to measure I suppose in Australia as well having so much racing history so you don't need to switch between race and street with fixed rate with external compressor for weight savings 😅due to race car.
The spring spacers will increase the spring rate even though they don't reall increase the ride height - it might well be enough to stop it bottoming out. give it a try just with those!
Superb as always, love the banter and chats. Crazy how much of a dent in the wall that 'fixture table' did - does that mean it can also be used as a hammer? It seems to do everrything else, except ladder.
Those rings are available in the uk since they like towing their caravans. You could also put it a different/temporary bump stop, the modern full size vans use a 1 leaf spring and once there's any weight it's on the long bump stop.
Anyone ever use Metrinch? Great quality tools, some people feel some kinda way about em though - I guess with the slop you lose some degrees of swing in tight spots. Good value on space for drag n drive or long trip toolbox though. Love a longform video Benny 👍🏻
316 stainless would be marine grade that what we used at a small local boat repair shop when i did a couple months work there was fun working on boats but a pain every tine you drop a bolt or nut because you cant use a magnet to retrieve it from the tight spaces
You should put a Dry Break Quick Release Adapter Fitting on the return so you dont get fuel all over that pretty hypertune intake plus less work to get done.
16:35 You can just snap a pic of the windshield and have someone make you a new set of those vinyls .... move them to the roof or "boot window or lid".
Yes, please dont stop talking shit. Im glad old mate (sorry, dont know how youd spell your name.. is it Giarn?) started speaking up more. Never missed an episode. Love BCW.
Don’t feel bad Benny about using a table. Agreed it is unsafe. 2020 I was using an old rickety wooden bench to stand on. I was thinking to myself I better get a ladder instead before something bad happens. Truth be told right at that moment the bench gave way and I lost my balance and landed on my right elbow causing my shoulder to dislocate. Took a full year to get my mobility back in my shoulder. That said I’ll take a broken bone over a dislocated joint any day.
VT and VX Commodore Ecotecs still use imperial bolts in some areas. Always a fun time when you’re tearing down the engine and realise your 10mm doesn’t fit 🙃
@42:19 Yes I do enjoy the side tracks or tangents or Hey look! Squirrell! It's a thing ha ha. ADHD, I'm sure you're there but I ain't no Quack. Clear Prop!

im guessing the car doesnt have ABS, but does it not have a load sensitive proportioning valve for the rear, similar to what used to be fitted to vans to allow the brake pressure to the rear to increase as the vehicle gets loaded up? that way the more weight on the rear, the harder the brakes will work on the rear. as for the ride height, yould you not just add some assister airbags? leave the current set up alone, but add bags to increase the height when the trailer is on/car is loaded heavily? vaguely similar to the self levelling systems fitted to Citroens and many estate cars (Mercedes etc particularly)? just a thought also Imperial measurements etc began in the UK, i believe. America got it when British settlers went to the USA. although their fluid measurements are smaller than UK ones.
hi ben. i have a lexus isf, and i bought these rear shock spacers that go on top of the shock before install. these gave me a half inch increase in ride heigh. simple 3d printed design too. could this work for the cresta?
It doesn’t have a strut top so won’t help this time:( i can change the shock mounting height on the diff but I’m trying to avoid that so we don’t mess with the rear end settings
Benny Chats Weird (I'm all for it) I actually don't think your fixture table is meant to be put against a wall at least full straight, just used as steps.
@@BennysCustomWorks Kinda surprised there isn't one you can put in place of the bump stop, inflate for the road drive and remove or simply deflate for the track.
@@BennysCustomWorks Yeah, I guess if it takes 350 psi to raise the car and increase the spring rate because it's only able to have 3cm of stroke then it's probably not gonna work. Although, perhaps an external pressure tank could possibly make such a thing work. Then again, we're talking about a drag car and adding like 30kg would be counterproductive.

The banter works! As does the Giann quizzes
100% agree, similar to hackshop garage as it is genuine banter. Rather listen to them rather than music or nothing
I come here for the witty banter and the occasional vehicle repair. I also love the longer format stuff. Keep it coming champions!

I'm amazed that 125lbs springs work in that car at all. Let alone whilst loaded with a trailer. Interesting.
