With obstacles that prevents you from escaping you restrict the player from jumping on that room, but they still can jump on any other part of the level.
I made a level about Link with a final bossfight. First, you hit one switch with an arrow far away, then you hit another with a bomb. After that, you are able to get to the other side and attalk Bowser/Ganon

Before I saw this I’m doing the same thing for Link using thrust to bounce off spike balls, but much harder. Another I even made where you have to strike items to pass them through hazards without jumping so you can pick it up once you passed it.
@@SWatch2021 i run with the superball flower despite mario not having a run button in that game, because it's still the classic quick mkario platformer! while with link, you need time to puzzle out the dungeons and fight the enemies, so i don't run (i also do it because it's like zelda II, the *only* zelda sidescrolling game, right?)
i think it would be cool if each style had its own character like SMB has link, SMB3 maybe kirby

3:22 no need for a no-jump clear condition, you can block off the "pins" with bumpers and stop jumps with a ceiling instead
Ehh, no jumps is cleaner. Bumpers get in the way of visibility and clutter the place up
packerfan2016 You’d only need 1 or 2 bumpers and a wall above them to stop the player from cheating.
Or one-way doors and some spikes/cliff at the end if the player softlocks.
