@@JustaT6 unfortunately its true....the 3.0 inline 6 doesn't get competitive mileage to other cars. With mine, I get about 29 to 31 highway as long as the roads are fairly flat and I keep it to a cruising speed of 70 to 72 mph.
My friend had one of these for a while bought it at 100,000 miles put 30k on it could’ve sold it for $40-50k unfortunately he totaled it but still such an amazing car I really miss it wish I could get a ride in it one last time 0 modifications still one of the biggest sleepers I’ve ever been in
my friend has one a 2012 r design pre facelift with polestar optimization it beats stage 2 subaru sti's and keeps up with other fast cars in roll races i was shocked at how fast the t6 engine is and with little modifications it can go even faster which is why soon i am trying to get my hands on one aswell i was hooked the moment i got a ride along.
Precisely the reason why I opted for the inline 6; I very much dislike the sound of the inline 5. Those 5 cylinder engines are very good engines and they're durable but the sound....nah!
The original R Design models were really performance machines. After say 2009, I think, it was just suspension and trim options. Nothing to sneeze at but not the cult cars of earlier years.
I have the "regular" T6 AWD inline 6 which came from the factory with advertised power of 300 hp (SAE) and 325 lb. ft. of torque. I went ahead and upgraded the ECM with iPd's flash upgrade and Voila! - 380 hp and 405 lb ft. of torque now. Fast as HELL! My guess would be 0 - 60 mph around the mid 4's (seconds) range, maybe as low as 4.3 and 1/4 mile in 13 seconds flat, possibly slightly better, maybe 12.8 or so.
@@nicholasdipilla6993 iPd - you send your ECU to them in Portland. They do the upgrade. According to their dyno, their tune, (which is admittedly on their part, a somewhat conservative upgrade) brings the 3.0 turbo inline 6 to 380 hp and 405 lb. ft. of torque. I definitely kick some serious BMW/Lexus/Audi butt!
Because of transverse engine design. In acceleration top of engine is pushed Back by power that is send to wheels, on top of engine you has exhaust manifold so connection of exhaust which is pushed Back a little.
its just that the newer ones have the polestar badge on the back. now the ones with the polestar badge on the front are the true polestar racing, limited production models.
The Polestar badge signifies that a factory authorized Volvo dealership installed a Polestar K-Pax exhaust (a $1995 aftermarket add on). The K-Pax exhaust I believe adds another 4bhp to the 325bhp the T6 R-Design already comes with. The aftermarket pipe does not void the Volvo warranty and Polestar issues you a certificate showing that your engine was optimized.
Billy Stark All I can tell you is my 2012 T6 R-design did not have the Polestar badge when purchased, The original owner had a K-Pax catback exhaust added as an aftermarket purchase. I know this because when I purchased the car, I was given the original exhaust as well. Polestar gives a nicely packaged box that includes the certificate showing the car''s HP was augmented and the car was tuned after the new exhaust and was bolted on by a certified Volvo technician. Again, this is for a 2012 car. As far as newer models, I think Polestar started including enhancements that improved the car as stock. Polestar has certain options that you can purchase to further enhance your cars performance. See the link here: issuu.com/kpaxperformance/docs/2013catalog_6433f7da932278 . I hope this helps.
again... all that numbers were great for 2016... today's cars (2019) is not uncommon to have by 1.5 seconds faster accelerations... Yet IMHO it is good acceleration for 50K that we paid (with tax) even for our S-60 R. Design.. Good balance of acceleration vs gas usage: 27mpg mostly driven highways... show me other one having so great engine and taking only that much gas... Huge torque.. just it has a 'lazy' relatively slow shifting transmission... but.. again, in Sport mode is not tragically slow.. :)
alex ballantine I know this is old comment.. But i have exact same type of car. Volvos of this period were assembled and painted im different countries. I think some doors were painted in France. Thats why they dont match with each other.. Paint quality is high but consistensy with paint code is shit just like with Fords.
Hi Rafael, Having the display in 'eco' mode doesn't change any aspect of the car, only the display. We thought this analogue-style display would be easier for everyone to see. :)
The front of the car looks good but the back kinda doesnt match with the front its ugly if they had desighned the back with a different look and it looked good whilst matching the front I would buy this car pretty good performance too and I like how the light on the speedo meter follows the needle and the rest is blacked out thats pretty cool.
@Nicholas Di Pilla No joke and he even gave me the thumbs up , Volvo has 320bhp . Atleast 70hp of that is lost through the awd drive train and weighing nearly 1700kg vs my 950kg 270bhp fwd combined with sticky street slick front tyre's he didn't have a chance and he knew it once I hit 2nd .
