I was in 8th grade when this came out. My math teacher showed us the video for this on yahoo music during class. I remember where I was sitting. That was 15 years ago, and tomorrow I am substitute teaching at the same school next to his classroom (which he is still in, he’s the last of my middle school teachers left at that school). Life is fucking weird. I never thought I’d be 29 going back to my middle school to teach there. Life is so weird.

Loved the song when I was in college, loved the music video even more. What happened to the music video? Is it because Teddy is against her first music video because she came out years ago, or is that the wrong idea? I’d been wondering the same thing recently. She stated in an interview that it was very painful for her to be painted as a male “teen heartthrob” at the time, almost as if she was being dressed up like a doll in a style and look that, even as a male, was totally not her but she has no say in. It’s too bad the video is gone because it was beautiful and one of my forever favorites bug I can understand why she would want this part of her history to be erased as much as possible.

I randomly wanted to listen to this song just now and couldn’t find the music video either and then learned that she came out as trans a couple years ago. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with her songs before no longer being available. But more power to her for stepping away from the limelight and just working as a songwriter strictly and still maintaining her true identity and not letting the music industry dictate that

Aw don't think like that! Think of how much happier and more comfortable she is in her life now, can you imagine the miriad of stresses she would've gone through, especially in the public eye? Teen heartthrobs can have horrible lives, drinking/drugs etc, I'm happy for her. I loved that first album and had a huge crush too, but in the end it's a teen crush, it shouldn't dictate your life choices too drastically once you develop an adult brain and realise the way someone looks isn't the most important thing in the world.
