Hi ClassicTrias, unfortunately, I read the same, 18 weeks. That is a long time. I am not sure why is taking them so long. Thanks for watching my video and for your support. Diana
As a visual astronomer who has owned numerous telescopes, including a Seestar and a Dwarf 3, and now employs EAA, I can't imagine anyone purchasing an old-school visual telescope after using one of these new smart telescopes. Star clusters arrive in the first 10 seconds, and nothing I see needs more than 30 minutes. The point of purchasing a telescope is to view an object with as much detail as possible, hence the need to go larger; in my opinion, if there's no camera at the other end of that instrument, it is obsolete, and you are not seeing much.
Hi Frederick! I am also amazed at the power of these little telescopes. I own several traditional mounts and telescopes, and we know how hard it is to set everything up. I bought a Celestron Rasa 11 to replace my Newtonian Skywatcher Quattro 10 and still haven't been able to do the new setup, and this is with a stationary Skydome. I highly recommend smart telescopes for beginners and kids. My 7-year-old grandson did an entire imaging session with my Dwarf 2, and he was so excited and proud! Of course, he didn't have technical problems, which is the beauty of these telescopes. ZWO sent me a Seestar to test and use; I can't wait to receive it. What is your favorite telescope so far? Diana
Got mine on Monday.. but still nothing but clouds and fog. Did test connecting iPad and iPhone indoors and took a few photos. Couldn’t get STA mode to work on phone, but phone to D3 worked fine. Both connection methods worked fine on iPad, which is what I have been using, all along, with my D2. Hopefully some clear winter skies coming for Oregon. Sure enjoying your vids on the D3!!
Hi Les, I am glad you received the telescope! Woohoo! I already recorded a video about STA mode, which is tricky to get. I will release several short videos for my playlist, Dwarf 3 Academy, showing some features that most people don't know about. Thanks for your support! Diana
The Star trails in m31 is normal. For subs over 30 seconds it's required to flip your dwarf to eq Mode. The AZ Mode is unable to correct the field Rotation. 😊
@morsel2010 I didn't know that for over 30 secs. Interesting. This will be another great test ! It seemed that the auto calibration was so fast that I thought it was not quite correct 🤔 Now you have me thinking. Thanks for letting me know. Diana
@Thattechguy80 Hi! Thank you for letting me know. I tried 3 times to blur the section, and I just did it again, now with a big rectangle. Hopefully, in the next few minutes, it will be corrected. I appreciate it 🙏 Diana
I have watched several videos and like the pictures. But I do not want a cloud-based service or mobile app experience. Can it be operated without any WiFi or Mobile data of any kind, and without a cloud-based service? Like would it work at the top of a very tall mountain that is completely isolated from the internet? And can it work in the special area in West Virginia where there are laws making all wireless technology illegal so that the national radio telescope observatory can operate?
Hi MJ! Thanks for your comment. The dwarf telescope doesn't need Wi-Fi; it connects to your cellphone. I am not sure about the mobile data because I haven't tried that, but I got a link for you regarding Dwarf 3 connections, and it will be the same for Dwarf 2. help.dwarflab.com/en-US/dwarf-3-user-guide-804015#142-connection-settings I hope this helps! If not, you can always ask Dwarflab directly at support@dwarflab.com I hope it works for you! Diana
I am so glad you got it! The same thing happened to me when I received my Dwarf 3. Almost 3 weeks cloudy, ughh. I hope you can test it soon. I am sure you will love it! Thanks for your support. Diana
does it have the function to do several nights of imaging on the same target so each time you set up the scope it will plate solve to the exact chosen composition of the target that you have already started off with from say the night before ??
Hi Spooky! I know for a fact it can do multiple targets in one night. I will ask Dwarflab to be sure, but I think it can do that, too, as long as you don't move the telescope from the night before. I'll get back to you Sunday night as they are in China, and now it's a weekend there. Good question. Diana
@@yourfavoriteastronerd ahh thank so much Diane , can you also ask them will the D£ handle cold night like light frosty nights and does it have a dew heater built in or is it best to air on the side of caution and fit a heat strap around the unit to stop lens fogging ?? many thanks 🙏
Hi Diana, no worries. Really enjoying the video updates. Especially on the Dwarf 3. I've got one on pre-order, just waiting for the middle of January. 😁
