She has a clear energy. Positive and enlightening. Keeping anything about Prince to herself. She and Prince had a bond that nothing would ever break.

I don't normally watch award shows but I watched this one because of Prince. BET did a great job and Sheila E stole the show. I almost cried myself and I don't cry. Amazing job. I was happy to see Mayte also included.
People are debating here about whether they were soulmates?Really? Obviously yes and he did propose to her. She couldn't marry him but always loved him.They were in love with each other before they even met in person. Their chemistry and connection was off the charts.Still is.

it's weird in 2014 during her book launch that she said she and Prince didn't talk and that they drifted apart.
That's what I'm saying.....she said on a interview the other day I looked at that she hadn't talked to Prince in over 8 months. What kind of friend is that? But now she all on TV crying. I think she just trying to profit from his death. She haven't had a song out in years and now that Prince is gone she gonna come out with a new one. She know it's going to sell because everybody is missing them some Prince.
Don't have to talk everyday to be connected.She said they loved each other unconditionally and always had each other's back. She did for him what she knew he would do for her.

It was like she was embarrassed for them. I know I would be! And besides, what were they doing that kept them so busy? I don't see an album or tour or show or anything from these people sooooo....what gives? Family problems? Shoot, I wanted to see Larry, Morris, Wendy n Lisa, etc at the tribute but whatever I guess. I'm kind of disappointed in them but if they really couldn't make it then ok. Thank God Jerome was there!

And alot of beautiful and amazing came out from it. I for one am happy they got to have that kind of love.. But he spoke so much about his love for her and even started choosing some cover songs bcuz they fit how he felt about her.. "Betcha By Golly Wow"... "LA LA LA I love you..." etc. Definitely a love like no other..

Really Larry Graham couldn't make it!! He brought him into the modern age let's be truth I didn't know anything about Larry Graham until Prince made him into his band! Sheila E was the perfect person to do this tribute she was his Lover and friend that's real she knew him so well! The BET tribute was perfect!💜

I wasn't really surprised or upset that Larry, or even Chaka Khan didn't show for BET's Prince tribute. Emotions, binding commitments, religious reasons(JWs supposedly aren't into publically glorifying the dead, even when its one of their own), etc. Sometimes things just happen. Besides, its not like their participation in the tribute was somehow gonna miraculously bring the Kid back to this world. Its all love though; I think we're all still in shock and grief. RIP Purple One.

Carol, please don't blame Sheila. Their relationship was complex after going through a recent breakup. I know she would have been there if she could have. She didn't see him for a couple months bc it was hard at the time. Agree with you 100% that Judith should have stayed with him & cared all the way instead of half the way if she was going to be with him, but... I hear ppl judging Sheila for going on tour- She loved him with all of her heart! I saw the depth of her emotion when I met her before all this. Look up her songs Rockstar, Who I am Now, Leader of the Band & new one Girl Meets Boy to see that. Writing new songs about him & wanting to perform them with others is her grieving process & genuine
because they didn't know. He never told him. Only one person knew. It was his protege, Judith Hill. she witnessed him collapse/nearly die and then she beckoned for him to get some help. I think she started telling other people that he needed help. He agreed somewhat quickly to get treatment. It was very soon then that he passed away :(

Very proud of Sheila E. She was awesome and she is an amazing person. Very disappointed with Chaka, Larry G, Davis ( really?), Morris Day who had "other commitments". Very disappointed - my opinion has changed about them after this.
Chaka had to go to rehab. Hope she recovers.She did an awesome job of standing up and speaking for Whitney.Love her.

Carol Whitaker No one can intervene when its your time to go. Everyone is thinking he took drugs because he was an addict. No he took drugs for health reasons. I believe he knew he was going to die and didn't want to do it in a hospital bed. Prince did it his way respect that. He was a genius not a drug addict.

Ya, they are too upbeat and those questions seem to stab Sheila a little in the heart-Im glad I didn't see the rest of it, I feel bad for her, they were so tight. Ive lost a few close friends over the years, she's holding it together very well. I cried at the end of the BET show, the blue guitar... the look on her face, the things she must have been feeling. Such a loss.

But I felt like she helped kick start the grieving process for his fans (us). He should have been given a stately funeral worthy of musical royalty.

But since that didn't happen, Sheilas tribute did seem to kick off the grieving process. And her song "Boy and Girl"... 😢😭😭 If you need to cry...this is that song.
My wife often wonders why I so look forward to taking our pets to the local veterinary clinic. It's because our pet's doctor is so fine, she could just about pass herself off as being Sheila E.'s daughter...if she had one. (Yeah, I KNOW! Now how cool is THAT, right?) Yup, on the outside, I exemplify the very essence of confidence around her. On the inside, meanwhile, I'm makin' Jerry Lewis look like The Fonz. If I actually did meet Sheila E. out here, on the streets of Las Vegas, I'd probably DIE...with a smile on my face, of course.

my guess is to keep the tribute on Prince.....and not have the storyline being about how Prince had 3 lovers onstage at the same time and whatever other silly story the media would come up with, or spin. Its one thing to have Mayte be a surprise appearance, and dance, as she was a dancer. Its an entire other thing to have Manuela just.....appear.
Manuela really wasn't in the business that way. I think she was more involved with his charity organizations. Which is how they met. She is opening a school in his honor, she called to tell him that. I'm so glad he knew before he left us.
