This is a GREAT video Victoria. Well done. I coach several youth teams here in the Midwest. Definitely going to have them start watching some of these videos starting with this one. The MINDSET of the passer is so key. We get so focused on technique but often times forget the mindset you need to make the pass, but more importantly make a better pass the next time. Well done.
@Lailah Byrd true. Ive been a libero for 4 years now and they expect very highly from me. One wrong pass and they always say "Youre a libero why cant you pass good" and other things etc...
Definitely, I am really sensitive when i get aced on or i let a ball dropped. And i get mad when my team loses/is losing so yeah i need to calm down until i serve
Kate------ Marie okay think that through, look at what majors they offer and what you want to be. The tuition and if you can get a scholarship. THINK IT THROUGH DONT JUST HAVE NO REASONS
I'm not a libero, I actually am a outside but this video has completely changed my prospective on passing. thank you so much for this amazing video. P.S I absolutely love you videos
Becca Schwigel nice job!! This is my first year of club and that’s awesome I really wanted to be on the 1s team but I think 3s is really helping me on my things that i haven’t perfected!!
this is my second club season and I did not make the 15-1 or 15-2 do u have any tips I can use in order to progress fast enough, where I can have a chance of making 16-1 or 16-2 next season?
I played volleyball before i watched haikyuu, but after watching i just got more into it. I am a short wing spiker THAT MEANS I CAN BE LIKE THE TINY GIANT!!!! I'M GONNA MAKE MY NUMBER 10
“Cool” love that mindset. Make a mistake and make it better. Don’t get down on yourself. Love it! I fall into the negativity trap too easily. This is gonna help a lot!
You have motivated me to continue with volleyball, you always remind me that there will be difficult times but it gets better and that you just need to keep going because it will get better
I came into this video expecting mostly physical tips, and then got mental tips. At first I was like...wtf I wanted physical tips, but the more the mental tips made sense, I'm actually really happy with these mental tips. I never in my mind thought of playing my sport similar to how I "play my job" - in that at work we talk about mindset and tips to help us succeed...why didn't I ever put that same frame of mind into my volleyball playing. Thanks for the tips! My favorites were reframe your role and idk why but i needed to be reminded to aim high and off.
I personally believe that once a passer is physically great at passing, can make early reads, hold strong angles, be efficient with their feet etc, it all comes down to the mental approach to passing!! from my experience, the mental game is a HUGE part of being a great passer. Glad you found an appreciation for it!! :)
i always do the mental one bahaha. whenever we’re in a game i’ll talk to the girls and i’ll be like (if i shank a serve or a hit: “i’ll get it next time, okay?”) (if i pass too close to the net for the setter to reach: “sorry, i’ll get it to you next time.”) i never say “i’m sorry that wasn’t a good pass” or “i’m being so bad today ignore me” i’ll always make sure i’m reliable enough and reassure them that i can do it and i’ll get the ball up. sometimes i’ll just say to one of the girls (if needed) “hey, it’s okay. i’m right behind you.” or things like “don’t worry. someone will always be there to pick up the ball. it’s okay.” and if someone on my team shanks a ball or misses a serve i’ll just say “it’s okay. you’ll get it next time” or “you’ll get this one.”. if i make a mistake i’ll just be like “i’ll do better.” i dont put myself down by saying “that was so bad how did i mess up”
Thank you so much! I feel like I always tend to forget that the mind is usually what makes me make more mistakes, so always having a positive attitude towards myself, my team and the game is much better than beating myself up about not getting "the perfect pass"
You don’t know how much you’ve helped me. In volleyball, or just in my personal life. After finding your tik tok and RUclips, I feel a lot more confident in my own body, and I’m working on my confidence on the court. I’m on a volleyball team right now for club, and a lot of my teammates are toxic, but now just finding and listening to your tips on how to become a better player mentally and physically, I feel so much better about myself.
Wish you made these vids when i was still playing volleyball im high school 😭😂 But all your advice is going to be great for younger players who might not have the opportunity for club or if their coaches aren’t helpful!
I’ve been playing volleyball officially for a little over a year now, and I found this video, and yea the tips are great but her voice is so cool I love her
you are for real my biggest inspo...... i’ve accepted that because of my height i’m going to have to be liberia for the rest of my volleyball years. your videos have helped me so much and even though you probably won’t read this, i hope you know how much you have helped me to go further in my volleyball journey.... love you so much victoria
I had a game yesterday ,and midway through the game i was stressing out alot becus i felt like my sets were horrible and i kinda thought it was my fault that the spike was getting in the net. I try to remind myself next point and all that but the stress really got to me ,and i later had to switch with another one of my player for setting. I tried not to cry but failed ;since i thought before i was setter , i was useless(on the team) until i became a setter, so switching positions kinda was huge for me. I back into the game and working on that postitive mindset. And whenever i need a positive mindset reminder i was think of Victoria so thank you And anyone who kinda like me and feels like it's their fault that the play wasn't good, just think of the next point and note your mistakes mentally
awww man it’s crappy that happened😕 but i’m sure the next time you’ll do better! being subbed out when you’re having a hard time is always a crap feeling but i’m sure you didn’t fail your team, sometimes people just have off games and that’s okay
i love how this focuses on the mental part of passing as it’s such a big part of it. I’m on my 15-1s team as an Outside and i want my passing game to be awesome because going d1 is my dream!!
Oh my god, as a libero, the first tip helped me so so so much. Thank you Victoria, I can't even tell you how grateful I am for your videos. You're literally the reason I made varsity as a freshman after only playing for 10 months.
By far the best most valuable tips I’ve found for volleyball. These could have changed my life if I had learned it sooner. I recommend these tips to any athlete with performance anxiety and a fear of failure like I’ve had. There has never been a more valuable mindset that I can carry out of sports and apply it to life.
Thank you for talking about healthy self-talk! The mental game and striving for perfection is something I've always struggled with. Looking forward to your growth mindset video!
I cannot say how much I love that you emphasize the "how can I help others" mentality! I coach 5th & 6th grade and they are SO worried about what they are doing. I'm going to present this to them and hopefully it will help them get out of their own head as well as show the importance of working as a team and communicating.
Thank you so much for this video. I really want to be a libero and I was the main/strongest passer on my team. I'm always looking for tips and practicing at home since I cant play club Thank you so much for being you💛🏐💛🏐💛🏐💛🏐💛🏐💛🏐💛
this is literally all i’ve wanted to know for the past month and i could never find a video that helped with serve receive and as a libero it’s very important and i’m so thankful that you made this video bc my mistakes are mostly mental💋
Thank you! I swear no one touches on passing, but there is millions of hitting videos. You can't hit without serve receive so the lack of videos of this quality is truly mindboggling.
I’m trying out for the boys volleyball team and I’m not sure what position I should try. I’m pretty well rounded but I’m only 5’8 and a freshman. So I’m debating wether I should try defensive specialist or hitter or setter? Ive been practicing setting and passing, but no so confident about my height.
Do whatever you find fun! I'm a libero on my high school varsity guys team. I have definitely learned that you should play what makes you happy. If you suck at first, that's fine! If you love Volleyball and have the growth mindset like in this video, you WILL improve with time. Don't give up when you don't show instant improvement.
You got this I am 5'3 and a sophomore don't worry about how tall you are just focus on the game and trying to better yourself always try to keep a cool head and positive mind set and communication is key
These videos are really helpful for me as a coach. I come from a small town where volleyball is just starting to grow. I played when I was in school but I didn’t learn much. This video is exactly what I need to help my passers when they start struggling. Love the mental tips!
Thank you! Loved it. I'm sharing with my high school daughter and hopefully she shares with her team. They may not be "elite" just yet, but that is what they are striving for and every tip and trick you can find in life is always helpful.
I’m actually a semi-pro pool player and I just happen to have played volleyball this weekend so I looked up your videos and I have to say these mental tips are similar to what I use in a pool match. It’s nice to know that if you’re an elite player in any sport that it boils down to your mental game and how you frame things. It’s easy to get always strive for optimal play but you have to have realistic goals and settle into the game before you can start zeroing in on the zone. I really enjoyed this video!!
It is nice to hear a player at such a high level give the same advice I give my volleyball players. I will be sharing with them so they know that it does work!
I am coaching a 12U team this year for the first time. I love your videos and how much focus on a positive mindset! I use your tips in practice and it has paid off!
honestly so much of this video are mental things and i love that because it honestly shows that volleyball is a really big mental game and if you really want to become elite you have to get the mentality down
I've been playing volleyball for 3-4 and this was is my First year as libero I'm usually pretty good at passing but these last few practises my passing was dogwater This really helped me calm down for the next game Thank you
ive been playing for a little more than two years now, and i recently joined club again, to help me improve before school volleyball begins again. lately i've been having trouble with my passing and i dont know why, so this helped me a lot. thank you!
i'm a setter playing a year up on a 15-2 team, and this really helped. especially with the mindset things, it has really helped me in game with being a positive player in general. thank you so much!
I think that point about the growth mindset is pretty big. sometimes I get multiple aces in a single game. that is not fun. but I do keep a journal and maybe after the game or going to sleep, I will reflect on who aced me, what was their tendency, and how I need to respond better the next time we play. also that last tip was really helpful as well. thank you. I actually come from beach volleyball but whenever I play with seasoned indoors players, their technique is so clean that I think I can benefit from this. the point about passing a serve high and off the net is really similar to beach. I was thinking too much about targeting the setter too precisely and their contact point for the set and so not getting the ball actually high enough.
Trust me when I say these tips do work. 2 tips I’ve been using recently and are extremely helpful are shaking it off when you make a mistake and taking mental notes. I think staying positive at all times even when you or your teammates make mistakes is a life changer. Instead of being upset, hype yourself up and be determined to learn off of your mistake. Now when you are taking mental notes you are really observing the other team and how they play. This comes really handy when you want to make good passes for your setter. When you remember how the person serves your can adjust yourself in order to make a good pass for your setter. I 100% want more videos like this because they are extremely helpful. So glad I watched this and learned more tips that I will be using. Ok now this is the part where I start being cheesy... I LOVE YOU SO MUCH VICTORIA, THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING US WITH AMAZING TIPS, MOTIVATION, AND INSPIRATION💕
As a ds who literally always talks to herself when I play this was so helpful. Im one of the older girls on my club team and its really late in the club season so my self confidence has really been low especially playing with girls who are better and have played longer than me. This was really helpful for me to not put so much pressure on myself and be more consistent and smart about how I play.
I am so glad I watched this video, I struggle a lot with a negative mindset because I was only able to practice at home for the majority of the time I practice and the main thing I practice is receives. I hit it above my roof sometimes and I get so mad and irritated and I go inside with a horrible attitude. After this I will definitely practice a growth type of mindset instead of negative
I just want to say thank you for helping me I have only been playing front row and I used to be really unconfident with my passing..... well not anymore once again thank you plz keep making videos 😍😍
i love that this is a video that isn’t just for beginners, ive really been trying to make my skills better but so many youtube videos are for beginners and it’s so annoying so thank you lol 🥰
@@victoriabrowne need one of these for setters and setter strategies! (less of how to set perfectly, but more of what options can we do with an overpass for example)
As a setter myself I can really say that tip number 5 is so important. For as setter is it mostly easier to have a high aim rather than a perfect position wise one that is not high at all. Great video!🥰
I was about to say the fourth and the fifth are my favourite tips. But when I look deeper onto each tips, I realized that every tip in this video is really EXCELLENT. I wouldn't become more confident and a better player if it weren't for you. Thank you! 💞
Thank you so much for making this video! Focusing mostly on the mind and having a growth mindset is crucial for executing passes, and almost everything, and it has helped me alot!
I’m a libero and have not been having a good mental mindset recently, i’m going to try all these tips! I’ve started playing with a new group of kids my age for the Summer, yet I can’t seem to find the courage or prove to my teammates i can play libero. When i look at everyone else, I feel that I am holding them back since I keep messing up. I couldn’t get my head in the game, and that mental mindset I had when i was confidence and on a roll seems to dissipate…I couldn’t do anything. I feel stuck, so I am going to try my best to use these tips! Thank you!
Omg so I wanna thank you for this video because I'm a freshmen in high school and I really needed this lol. People consider me as a libero so your really inspiring :]
this has been in my recommended for so long and i’m so glad that i watched this. mental tips are definitely something i’m going to work on from now on!!
I was wondering if you could do a video about how to be a loud and aggressive libero. I am a libero myself but i feel like I never have enough things to say. For example our team will be serving and I’ll call out if sets up or back and then “watch the over pass” “watch setter dump” “outside hits line” and so on but I just feel like it’s so repeated because I saw that ALL THE TIME. And I just need more advice on the right things to say and to be over all a louder libero because I know that’s what most schools are looking in
definitely wish i found this vid when you posted it, i definitely am a huge metal person and i’m pretty sure your tips will help me, as soon as i can try them out :) thanks for such an amazing video!
Hi I want to just say this last year I started to watch ur videos and loved them but then I stopped watching and I started have a negative mindset and just lost it and now I watched u today and I feel motived and now I will have a growth mindset and be better :D
Just last night I had a bad game as a passer, which is totally unlike me. Your Aim High & Off tip made me realize my bad games are usually ones when I'm trying to force "perfect" passes. Thanks so much!
I have been looking for a video about how to become a better passer through mindset, if you look up “how to be a better passer” or “how to be a better volleyball player” they’re all about technique but most of the time that’s not what I struggle with. Thanks for this AMAZING video
what is the most wanted height for a libero? i’ve never played and i’m trying out this year. i play field hockey so i’m really good at sprinting back and forth and getting to the ball fast. i also am only 5’4 so haha..
@@lenal2096 liberos are *usually* the shortest on the court but there is no height requirement!! i would say ur height is perfect:) but just remember height isn’t everything, it’s the skill that matters
I would love to hear a more in depth chat about reframing your role as a passer. I have been trying it out and it has been helping a lot, I would love to hear some more tips on how to really change up this mindset!

YEEEESSSS TYSM!! On my team we don't have official positions since we're only a free time team but because of my fast reflexes and me saving the ball many times I wanna be a libero one day!
Great advice for the mental side. These ideas transcend the game, big time. Look forward to how you teach the growth mindset. Super great content, Victoria!

If you love Volleyball and have the growth mindset like in this video, you WILL improve with time. Don't give up when you don't show instant improvement.
you're only a freshman so try both this year and see which you are a better at/enjoy more!
You got this I am 5'3 and a sophomore don't worry about how tall you are just focus on the game and trying to better yourself always try to keep a cool head and positive mind set and communication is key
You could be outside
Would love to see a setter version of this series!
It is nice to hear a player at such a high level give the same advice I give my volleyball players. I will be sharing with them so they know that it does work!
I am coaching a 12U team this year for the first time. I love your videos and how much focus on a positive mindset! I use your tips in practice and it has paid off!
Thank you!! This helped a lot! Love the format of the video!!
honestly so much of this video are mental things and i love that because it honestly shows that volleyball is a really big mental game and if you really want to become elite you have to get the mentality down
I've been playing volleyball for 3-4 and this was is my First year as libero
I'm usually pretty good at passing but these last few practises my passing was dogwater
This really helped me calm down for the next game
Thank you
I’m a libero too, can’t wait to use these tips in practice! Great video 👏🏼💓
ive been playing for a little more than two years now, and i recently joined club again, to help me improve before school volleyball begins again. lately i've been having trouble with my passing and i dont know why, so this helped me a lot. thank you!
i'm a setter playing a year up on a 15-2 team, and this really helped. especially with the mindset things, it has really helped me in game with being a positive player in general. thank you so much!
I was thinking too much about targeting the setter too precisely and their contact point for the set and so not getting the ball actually high enough.
ya you are true
"video every Monday " so good👍🏻
Trust me when I say these tips do work.
Ever since I started watching your RUclips channel, I become obsessed with usc!!! Your so fantastic keep up the good work love ya!!❤️😊😘
i love that this is a video that isn’t just for beginners, ive really been trying to make my skills better but so many youtube videos are for beginners and it’s so annoying so thank you lol 🥰
Finally I’m EARLY!!!! Love this video
thanks! :)
please could you do a setter tips video? ❤️
Yes I will!
@@victoriabrowne need one of these for setters and setter strategies! (less of how to set perfectly, but more of what options can we do with an overpass for example)
Thank you for the 5 tips to build our inner volleyball game. 🙏🏾
As a setter myself I can really say that tip number 5 is so important. For as setter is it mostly easier to have a high aim rather than a perfect position wise one that is not high at all. Great video!🥰
I've been playing volleyball as a libero for about 4 months now and this was so helpful tysmm❤
I was about to say the fourth and the fifth are my favourite tips. But when I look deeper onto each tips, I realized that every tip in this video is really EXCELLENT. I wouldn't become more confident and a better player if it weren't for you. Thank you! 💞
I play setter and switching to Libero soon at club thx for the tips ur amazing 😝😝😆😆😆🤘🤘🤘
The first one is so good, it really helps
Get that positive energy goin queen wwhooooooooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi Victoria, as a brand new trainer I really like your mental approach. Thanks a lot for your stunning video.
this has been in my recommended for so long and i’m so glad that i watched this. mental tips are definitely something i’m going to work on from now on!!
Amazing Tips !! well said "Great passers are not perfect, they're consistent". Myself 30+ years of Vollebalism and still moving on.
This is going to help me so much when it comes to comps for school this year! 🙌💞
OMG thank you so much for making a video because I really want to be a labero like you♥️♥️♥️
hi victoria i loved the video!! for another video could u do how to be a good libero and teach us how to dive and read better etc...
Victoria you are such an inspiration. I love your videos and you! You’re so real abt mental health in athletes. You’re a hero to so many. 💗💗
I can’t wait to work on those tips in practice! Thank you so much your videos are awesome!
Just last night I had a bad game as a passer, which is totally unlike me. Your Aim High & Off tip made me realize my bad games are usually ones when I'm trying to force "perfect" passes.
Thanks so much!
this was so helpful! THANK YOU!!
I love you and your videos you inspire me to become the best volleyball player I can be thankyou! 😁💕
aw thanks Kendall!
I have been looking for a video about how to become a better passer through mindset, if you look up “how to be a better passer” or “how to be a better volleyball player” they’re all about technique but most of the time that’s not what I struggle with. Thanks for this AMAZING video
youve literally inspired me to become a libero even though im 5’10 hahah
what is the most wanted height for a libero? i’ve never played and i’m trying out this year. i play field hockey so i’m really good at sprinting back and forth and getting to the ball fast. i also am only 5’4 so haha..
@@lenal2096 liberos are *usually* the shortest on the court but there is no height requirement!! i would say ur height is perfect:) but just remember height isn’t everything, it’s the skill that matters
@@stephaniestrike7169 thank you so much!!
i’m 4’11 do you think i’ll be able to become a libero
@@roseq3435 yes totally!!! you can do anything if u set ur mind to it. liberos are USUALLY shorter - but skills matters way more than height
I would love to hear a more in depth chat about reframing your role as a passer. I have been trying it out and it has been helping a lot, I would love to hear some more tips on how to really change up this mindset!
ive been playing volleyball since the fourth grade and all those tips were amazing!love u victoria
I love Your helpful Videos like these cause I’m really working on Trying to become a better player I’m a freshman in high school on a traveling club team, I workout with your videos and take your awesome tips Thank you so much for the inspiration that you bring to me and making me a better person and player!!!!! Please continue making these type of videos!!!!
LOVEEE YOUUUUU🏐🔥❤️❤️
YEEEESSSS TYSM!! On my team we don't have official positions since we're only a free time team but because of my fast reflexes and me saving the ball many times I wanna be a libero one day!
Great advice for the mental side. These ideas transcend the game, big time. Look forward to how you teach the growth mindset. Super great content, Victoria!
Thank you for the video bc I am a volleyball player for my school and I think u will help me get better 😂🏐
