In the video of Stanford's phenomenal libero Morgan Hentz, Madeleine Gates was across the net playing for UCLA. It's crazy seeing her across the net FROM Stanford considering she got the final kill on game point in 2019 FOR Stanford to win its program's 9th NCAA Championship. She had an amazing record-breaking hitting efficiency that tournament.
FYI..Regarding the libero rules… The libero replacement takes place in the “libero replacement zone” which is from the end line to the attack line. It does not take place between the attack line and the net because that is the “substitution zone” and as stated multiple times in this video, the libero does not count as substitutions. Any player stepping over the attack line towards the net is immediately deemed to be a player wanting to substitute, the score table sounds the buzzer, and the referee prepares to oversee the player substitution. If a Libero stepped into that zone, this would cause a game delay, as they are not a proper substitution. This would lead to a delay card.

@@ramroshan417 you’re never too old to start a new sport! There are even specialist groups which help elderly people stay active with sports (although I don’t suppose volleyball would be a very good choice considering the amount of jumping and throwing yourself to the flaw that’s involved). 25 however is likely too old to play professionally if you don’t have previous experience or aren’t particularly athletic, most professional athletes start very young and have been playing for over a decade before actually being old enough to go professional, however it a fine age to start playing casually if you can find a local club, if you find you have an amazing talent, there are even casual leagues though it depends on your area. Edit: But if you work hard and find out you are very good, you do still have a chance of going professional, but you would need to get to that level in under 5 years as most volleyball players are between 20-30, the average being 26 for female and a bit under 30 for male.

One other thing about rules… The hitter doesn’t have to stay on the ground if the Libero handsets the ball in the front zone. They do however have to make sure that at least a portion of the ball is below the height of the net when they attack it. Yes, if you’re a tall player, You would probably have to stay on the ground to accomplish this. But shorter players, you can probably jump and get away with it. There are college videos where the hitter has had to adjust in mid air after realizing the libero was over the line when hand setting. It’s pretty impressive to see.
I made the team last year but I was kinda just everywhere no set position, but this year my coach put me as libero which I kinda want to do, but I've never done it before. Thanks
3:55 the switch of liberos actually needs to be done in the "libero substitution zone", they have to enter the court by the sideline between the 3 meters line (10 foot) and the end line. The reason is simple, if the libero present himself in the regular substitution zone (between the 3 meter line and the center line) this will just confuse the referee who'll think you want to do a regular substitution which are limited substitution and registered on the scoresheet. Most of the times I have to warn liberos and coaches about the end line... Many unexperienced libero will enter the court by the end line (service line) instead of the sideline. As referee even if libero switch aren't recorded on the scoresheet (they are recorded only in very high level of competition with another control sheet) referee still need to control the legality of the switch, by restricting the libero switch only to this zone, referees know where to look so they don't miss anything (libero switch are fast), and by defining this clearly it helps to enforce the rules. Players are often themselves confuses on the court, libero makes a move to exit the court but change his mind he can't come back before the end of the next rally, so whenever he cross the sideline in his zone, this is when you consider a switch to be effective. (liberos are limited to only 1 switch per rally)
Ok, um, Noya definitely made being a libero sound different than it is. But that's anime for you. 2:21 not exactly whenever she wants. Libero replacement are limited to 1 per rally. This means that whenever the libero rotates to position 4, she has to get off the court and she has to wait for 1 rally before replacing another back row player. And only in the USA the libero can serve the ball everywhere else they can't. Even in USA whenever you go watch an international event with teams from different country, they'll use the FIVB rules where the libero can't serve.

I’ve never understood the appeal of being the libero. Nothing beats the feeling of crushing shoots and quicks. If someone else wants to play libero, that’s fine by me. They can spend the game on the floor. I’ll be in the front row, trying to six pack people.
setter is the second hit they should be getting it no matter what passer/back row should definitely be first because most professional teams will not serve short they will serve deeper, so the back row needs to be there but setters do pass to the hitter.
Ive played as an outside hitter my whole volleyball career but, I've always thought as Liberos and DS's as the coolest positios on the court.

How about now?
They are like the goalkeepers?
yah
Why only in NCAA Championship the libero can go to serve? Is this championship independent about the FIVB rules?
Me being a swimmer 👁👄👁
Me also being a swimmer 👁👄👁
I came from Haikyuu too 👁👄👁
👁👄👁
Ok so it was not just in the anime
HAHAHHAHAAH NO-
Ya when I told my parents about wanting to be a libero they're like- "A what now? I don't think that's a real thing" Realistically, the only reason I want to do volleyball and be a libero (other then me being shorter than him) is because of [Upperclassman] Nishinoya. I simp too much but like it's fine
Everyone is talking about Noya (not saying he isn't amazing) but like,
WHAT ABOUT YAKU THE DEMON SENPAI?!? He's so amazing I love himmmmmm he's too underrated
Yaku superiority
The pronunciation of "libero" is LEE-ber-o, with the emphasis on the first syllable. Not li-BEAR-o.
Even your libero definition at 0:39 says it should have a long e and a long o.
Bro shes too good
Came to this because I’ve gotten told I am the libero and I’m very nervous about it
I wanna play volleyball and I really like libero and I dont like the spot light so im not totally going to be in the spot light and I help my team
Guess what I have been playing specially for the defence player, from 1 year but now I know how important I am
Grreat vid !_! Lee Beh Row like Figaro is the proper pronounciation v_v
Wow so that's the reason they can go outside the court to pass the ball right?
Cos many videos I have watched on RUclips they always go outside or even into the spectators area to get the ball
Any tips on how to dive & receive when there’s a spike that goes different directions ?
As a played as a goalkeeper this looks interesting
"Libero" in italian? Woooow! Didn't know you use it!
I'm a fast short person trying to join volleyball, I can fall and I have decent reflexes, should I try out?
Yes!! If you like the sport try it!
Definitely. Agility, fast reflexes and no hesitation to go for balls are a really good thing for a player who wants to become a libero
im short and i want to play volleyball but i want to be a libero anyway
I am here after watching Haikyu!! 😄
Okay I played as a libero for a season but I would like to play as I libero again how do I tell my coaches for this season or do I not?
I want to be it because it’s the hardest volleyball position but I also want to do outside hitter
Liberos are the wild ones
Wait what I'm so confused I always thought it was pronounced leeburroh
It can be pronounced like that! It mainly has to do with preference or what you were taught. Like I was taught how the video says it but a bunch of people say it a different way
It’s pronounced both ways, I prefer leeburrow
yes, and the ironic thing is that they put the dictionary pronunciation at the start of the video which shows a long "e" for the Italian word.
The name of your position translates as “free” from Italian.
Also you can only play back row. 👀

@@NCAAChampionships Thank you .
great vidoe :O
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is the libero can be taken out by the regular 6 player that he/she substituted. The rotation of the libero is still at row.
Ive wanted to become a libero for my whole life...but im 5'11 and ppl say its not the best option for me to play libero
where can i find the purdue vs minnesota match?
ah yes the *spicy goalie*
Any other anime fans who just watched haikyuu thinking : I wanna be like Nishinoya
Libero sounds like someone from the Spanish civil war
What brought me here you might ask? Nishinoya and yaku 🤩 that’s what brought me here 😌
im in 8th , we dont get positions until 9th and im the tallest on my team kinda worried i wont get libero but im the only person who dives for the ball?
im so sad i wanted to be the libero but the coach is having me be a hitter even tho im one of the best diggers/divers on the team. i guess ill try again next season
So Infootball terms middle Line Backer
I’ve never understood the appeal of being the libero. Nothing beats the feeling of crushing shoots and quicks. If someone else wants to play libero, that’s fine by me. They can spend the game on the floor. I’ll be in the front row, trying to six pack people.
No one wants to be a libero, they are because they are short, that's the truth, I bet they envy the real players
@@wits3392liberos are real players, they are just as important as the setter or blockers, etc.
so, was Scott Sterling a libero ?
Me at 25, never played sports only marching band, graduated college 4 years ago: I wanna be a libero
Ima only join because of the lebero position
Lol said “get to run in NDA out whenever” me want the passion
I took 2 pages of notes-
Jennifer Nierva sent me here..Mylabzz
0:58 why did gabby curry almost say she goes to the university of texas
Isn't the setter the best passer?
setter is the second hit they should be getting it no matter what passer/back row should definitely be first because most professional teams will not serve short they will serve deeper, so the back row needs to be there but setters do pass to the hitter.
