@@TheSchoolOfSports I have a question, are you allowed to spike over the net or does the spike have to come from your side, meaning if a ball is set a little over the net, am I allowed to spike with my hand over the net obviously without touching it
Yeah!!! It's little tricky! I am glad you understood it 😊 If you can understand rotation in volleyball you can understand all sports in the world! Check out the channel to learn about other sports! 😊
I've never understood rotation better than this moment ever, to the point I'm doubting that I understood it wrong because of how good and simple your explanation is, thank you
I just joined a volleyball team and they appoint me as a Libero. I was really confused on the role so I’m here on RUclips University and I’m glad I found your channel! Super easy to understand. I can now confidently play my role as a Libero. Big thanks!
Thank you for this. I've been watching my university's team play for about 8 years now and have only recently become more interested in HOW certain things are working (it's fun to watch even if you don't know the rules). The libero position has been one of the more confusing concepts and I hadn't realized that they were restricted to the back court and THAT'S why she was always getting subbed out. My team was knocked out in the 1st round of the NCAA DII playoffs, but I'm going to be watching next weekend anyway so I can watch Cal State LA lose and now I'll be able to watch it with a different point of view.
I’m here because I had to play recreational volleyball with my youths but I always get confuse with the rules and terminology. This is so detail and exactly what I need. Can’t wait for the next time I play with them haha
Very well explanation! I had been searching about full detail of rotation, especially when the libero is in the front zone, and finally I found it here! Thankyou very much!
This explanation is soo clear for us begginers and very helpful to the core, thank you soo much. I have been looking for this explaination for long because no one in my team did it clear to me yet
Could you do a version where the setter is at position 2? It's really good other than that, and was going to share to all our beginners and juniors, but at higher level we always try to set from between 2 and 3 by the setter. Happy to help on more detail if wanted, but the way you presented this is very good 😀
Thanks Lewis! 😊 I have an idea to make it work for your use case. How about you tell them that 1 thing can be improved in the positioning to be more effective? You can have this question for extra marks! That way you will be able to push beginners to get thinking and you would also be able to test them on their strategic grasp? What do you say?😊
yea that is the usual thing, in my team because our setter had also a very good service, we used to start with setter in 1 or 2 dependig if we win the ball or not (to give him the first service)
Thank yiu for this video, I was a beginner and accidentally joined a pro club and i had to try to fit in…I’ve always hated rotations but you made it easier it understand
Very informative. Just learning to play and the diagrams were so helpful. Thanks for this! Question: do you have to be the roles of your position or is it flexible? I.e. setter can only set and not attack, hitters only hit etc
it really depends. anyone can set but it’s preferred that you bump unless you’re the setter. the setter’s main job is just to set up a good line for the hitters. same thing goes for the hitters, if necessary someone else can hit, but you want to leave it to the hitters unless it’s necessary. (this is at least my understanding)
@@tessallison4580 I am late to the party but here it goes Anyone can set in the team but you always want your setter(s) to set the ball because that’s what they are trained to do, they are more likely to set the ball accurately Anyone can pass and serve but you don’t want your setter to pass because of the reason aforementioned Hitting is trickier, anyone can hit the ball but one condition must be met and that is your jumping point (the point you leave the ground) has to be in your playing zone. If you’re a back player you must jump from behind the 3m line, and when you’re a front player you must jump from anywhere in the front zone. Hope that clears it up!
Not gonna lie, I want to learn to play Volleyball 'cause I watched Haikyuu I am really short, even for a girl of my country, and as a teen I left a ton of team sports cause I thought I was a drawback because of my height, so... Hinata kinda inspired me lmao
Thank you so much! for this informative video and most especially it was simplified. A big help to those beginners who wants to know more about playing Volleyball.
Thanks sm for this it really thought me the basics. But I do have a question, I thought their was 3 sets and you have to win 2 of those sets? I could be wrong but I was curious.
Great question! It depends upon the tournament type. Typically Professional plays best of 5. Since best of 5 takes lot of time, school and colleges might choose best of 3 to keep games short.
If the First Ref did not notice the hand touch of the defensive player on the out of bounds play, but the line judge calls it... what will the official call be? Can the head ref overrule the line judge? Thanks...
So if the setter is rotated to the back row can he still go to the front row to set a ball? also can anyone from the back row be in the front row as long as they are not spiking the ball? thanks!
Thank you so much! This is very helpful! I was waiting for volleyball rules.
You're welcome! Happy to share!
