I would recommend against the tripod she talks about. It is possible to invest in a relatively inexpensive tripod, but when you choose one with too many sections - the weakest point is ALWAYS the smallest section, and this will make the tripod far less stable - especially in the wind, which Iceland has plenty of. A good tripod will also have a hook under the center, and you can add a bag to this to add more stability to your setup. Have been there in the winter, headed back this summer, almost exactly six months later.
