Absolutely awesome info, Jen! This makes so much sense, thank you! I’m super excited to try uour suggestions for front/back bagginess! Great video🧵✂️🪡🌺
Awesome lesson! You drove home that “room inside” concept in one of your previous videos. I took a screen shot of your diagram because it FINALLY made sense to me. It is absolutely counter-intuitive. Life is so much easier when you can think three-dimensionally. Talk about a “yikes!”
Yay... I'm happy to hear you had the Ah-HA moment! ... once you see it, you can use that concept to fine-tune the fit of your pants by adjusting the shape of the crotch
So helpful to see the concept reflected in the pattern! The “room inside” idea helped crack something about pants for me! Could you do a similar video about adjusting the front of the pants?
Thank you, this gives me a lot of "food for thought". I had asked this question last week. These tips are helpful for a new toilet but don't help me alter the one zi sewed! I can't add fabric to center back and the pants have side seam pockets and a stretch tummy panel for adjustable fit. My pattern is Anne Tilleys Magic pants. They look great fro front and side view but back has those vertical drape lines. I tried lowering the crotch and it looks worse! I'll keep trying! Thank you!
I hate when something needs adjusting and I don't have the fabric to let it out. I think a good way to go is to assume you need less room and straighten the cb edge to make it less angled... Then if you need more room, you can trim some off or sew deeper to make it more angles ...adding room vs. starting with an angled cb edge and not having fabric to put back in if you need. Hope this helps! Thanks for fitting along with me.
Thank for this great alteration info. There are a lot of ladies getting BBL's. How do you contour the rear to allow for a well-rounded rear and a much smaller waist? I'd also like to know how to alter a pattern to accommodate the BBL & a smaller waist.
:) I'm assuming "BBL" means baggy butt lines :)) I will add this topic to my list of upcoming videos... but in the meantime a well-rounded rear and smaller waist will need a more angled CB seam and larger waist darts will help create a "Cup" shape and fit the waist... as well as direct the fabric down the leg. Thanks for fitting along with me
I like this for taking in the sides. What I like for taking in the legs . Is a seam all way down middle of the back of each leg. It starts out at the top and goes into right down center of back or front of leg. It’s incorporated in a leg dart at top of leg.
:) I use that very technique to remove ease down the entire leg when I'm fitting pants and there's too much ease everywhere... Sometimes adjusting within the pattern gives you better results than taking in the side and inseams. Thanks for following along with me
But what if the butt is just too baggy but the front is fine? If I take in the sides which would be taking in the same amount of the side AND front leg.
the baggy but is a problem i often encounter. It's impossible of shorten the crotch, i have te flat and low behind and i need lenght in the back, but it creates width under the buttocks. I regret not having a teacher like you .

Great video. I usually have problems with "baggy" front. Can you do a video on that?
Thanks so much... I will definitely add how to adjust the front of the pants to my upcoming tutorial list. Thanks for fitting along with me

You would just take in the back side seam and leave the front side seam alone :) Thanks for fitting along with me
