You can actually cut out one of the attacks here-- touching the shiny spot that spawns the target to get into the HAL room also spawns a Ranger pickup in front of the goal

I have a theory on possibly getting zero attacks (if inhaling at dropped copy abilities don't count as attacking...(or if inhaling two different HATS don't count toward on getting a random copy ability)). That very early on, as soon as the first mini boss by inhaling the (dropped) copy abilities, it can give you a random chance of getting ice, and keep rolling until you get ice.

The game only puts abilities you have already acquired into the randomization roulette. Meaning until you can get ice, it's impossible to get it through those means.

To me, it was a good idea though, I just didn't think that the game would lock you to the copy abilities that you already unlocked... I just wish it can be proven true or untrue,

Interesting thing that not many know about is that canceling ice block actually counts as a parry/dodge that lets you enter bullet time, it's just has a much smaller time frame (0.2 seconds i think).
Can confirm as an ice main myself.

I actually abused the hell out of that parry as ice.
If moveset descriptions were still a thing that move would be called Time Freeze
Its funny to think that kirby is the only series where the ENEMIES taking contact damage is a constant.
You didn’t have to restart from leongar every attempt. Letting elfilis ko you would spawn you before it and you would be able to pick up ice on the way.
8:41 finally, the ice ability in Kirby and the forgotten land get the recognition it deserves. Once you get the last blueprint for it you get a version of the ability that doesn't just make most of the bosses' attacks do no damage (except for one or two attacks with latter bosses to my knowledge), but the shield also does damage too. I know ya don't plan on attacking but can I just say how overpowered it is that that Ice ability can freeze EVERY BOSS IN THE GAME, yes bosses are harder to freeze then others, but the freaking Giant chunk of damage yet get when the ice on them breaks is just so satisfying to watch happen. One minute the boss is at 95% hp the next they are suddenly at 50%... A little over exaggerated? Maybe but only a little. Ice along with fire are just so good in this game

actualy, ice is meta for the fecto elfilis boss in any% speedrunning of this game rn (and some other portions too, like 2-3 fleurina)
if you combo the ice-breaking with the normal attack, and summing the damage of freezing completly super fast if you do it well, it happends to make the most and fastest damage you can make in this game at least from the basic abilites and volcano fire, if we don't count the abilitiless tecnique of throwing stars to the bosses (which is suprissingly effective too lol)

another tip: when you stand on the tree in rocky rolling road, a ranger copy ability essence spawns on the floor, which means you dont have to attack by inhaling a ranger enemy
another another tip: if you lose your ability in the fecto elfilis fight, you can just die, respawn and get back the ice ability right before the elfilis fight
cone jump isn't high enough

Unfortunately, the double jump goes just a little too low to scale the ladder, from what I've tried
@@iamsiley2200 there is a glitch with cone that allows u to jump the frame u get it, even midair. He's not talking about super jumping with hammer.
I saw a lot of comments about this, so let me quickly clear the air:
It isn't possible to get by this challenge without attacking, but yes, there is a way to do it by only attacking one time. When you reach the end of Rocky Rolling Roads and stand on that tree he showed, the bench on (I believe?) the left will spawn a Ranger essence, meaning one can negate the need to inhale an enemy.
However, until there's a different way to figure out how to take out that target for the HAL room, this challenge is essentially able to only be done if one attack is used, aka the Ranger essence at the end of the level.

It is indeed possible to beat the game with these rules. You can get the invincibility candy all the way to Wild Frosty in Alivel Mall with well-timed dodge rolls, at least if you get bullet time off of the bombs that the Poppy Bros. Jrs. are throwing down. To make it even easier, you could also spawn Bandana Dee to stay behind and grab the candy, then teleport it to you so you get a headstart.
I was wondering if Bandana dee would work there, but i never did two player so i had no idea if you can still share them, does bullet time slow the timer too? Never would have thought about that. I know the small mall portion before the first boss has a ice essence so if you could make it that far without then the rest of the run is won
You really counting the mouthful attacks as not attacks?
pretty sure if you just book it, you don't need the dodge rolls to begin with.
you can actually skip that first miniboss, Icay did it a while back. You need to bring the vending machine to the second area by setting up Mouthful Storage and pressing B right when Kirby finishes using the warp star. From here you can either squish the boss to kill it instantly (debatably an attack) or use it to clip out of the boss arena
If you change the rules to allowing the attack button but not to deal any damage that way, then you could potentially kill the second mini boss with the invincibility candy using the fire power. I do respect your rules however, major props for your commitment!
It makes sense that Ice is MVP

Funny how you need the ice ability to defeat the boss that gives you the ice ability.
I mean by technicality, inhaling your copy ability back is not really attacking, since its not offensive unless you spit it out as a star, and it doesnt affect any enemies unless they're too close. Basically if the action of inhaling the copy ability back doesnt affect any enemies, then its technically not an attack.
This was an awesome challenge idea. Could you turn this into a challenge series like with the no jump challenge
Actually you can dodge with the ice ability, just got perform by letting go of the guard button and tilting the control stick within the same range to trigger the slow down effect of a perfect dodge. It’s a lot more trickier and I wouldn’t recommend.
Im fairly sure if you do something with the car at the ending part of where the first HAL room is, an ability bubble appears and you can get the ranger ability, saving 1 attack.

I recall using the ice shield on fecto forgo and just laughing as I basically let the boss kill itself as I just held down a single button.
Major respect for beating the final fight under those restrictions.

Seeing this, I am reminded about how I never realized blocking/dodging was a mechanic during my initial 100% playthrough, so when I told my friends how hard it was to outrun a lot of attacks for damageless they acted like I was crazy. Super cool that they added even more dynamic ways to use copy abilities than meets the eye!
I got to the end of the Ultimate Cup Z by the time I learned about the dodge slow down. I done it once by accident, thought it was lag and never tried it again until the last arena cup lol
Theres actually a speedrunner trick that allows you to extend Invincibility Candy and could be used to kill the first Wild Frosty without attacking.
Add a 2nd player as Bandana Waddledee, make them take the Invincibility Candy, run as fast as you can to Wild Frosty, then when it's about to wear off have Kirby the Waddlee "high five" to share the Invincibility Candy effect. Kirby will have it for the full duration, allowing you to reach Wild Frosty with the Invincibility effect.

By the way here's a tip in case of you decide to do any of the other modes that mostly involve facto elfilis or a variation of him whenever she decides to heal you can always see a shadow of his actual self that's the one you need to Target in order to cancel his healing phase

To prevent a attack, you could use multiplayer to double the 'super kirby' time and defeat Frosty with no hits.
Please note that they do that method in the co-op (2 player) WR speedrun.

There actually exists a mini-boss Skip for the first wild edge fight, but I don’t blame you for not figuring it out. It’s probably the hardest trick discovered in the game and you could also skip a lot of other mini-bosses with some HSJ’s
I personally wouldn't count the shooting the target as an attack, as you're not actually in combat. So really it's just "Find a way to get Ranger before Wild Frosty without using the copy ability" and you've beaten it without attacking
I like how you shows pros and cons like with the minimum jump series
Idk if this was mentioned yet or not but you can actually get cone to gigant edge without mouthful storage. If you stand on the slightly raised geometry right next to the ladder and then release mouthful towards the wall then jump inhale and with good timing jump again then cone attack
The final battle poses a simple question.
What happens when an unstoppable force (Elfin) meets an immovable object (Kirby).
Such an interesting twist on the formula. I assume this is the only Kirby where it's a meaningful question to ask
Super Star is a reasonable candidate, at least. You could get through most of the game with only a few attacks here and there to mix for Plasma and break destructible blocks as required to progress. Unfortunately, it'd all fall apart at Galactic Nova Nucleus, since Starship really can't do much of anything except attack.

You can dodge with Ice if you release gaurd while holding in a direction. It's more like the 2D dodges though.

I've said it before but I do say this pink little round man is quite humorous.
I think the rules passifist challenges should be: if we’re attacking and killing an actual enemy with the attack button, it’s not allowed. If we’re using the attack button to do something that DOESN’T involve killing, it’s allowed. So by these rules it IS possible to beat Kirby and the Forgotten Land, without attacking.

You can save an attack by going up onto the hal-room tree and getting the melons.
a ranger copy essance will appear on the bench, and you can use that to get ranger without inhaling the ranger enemy!
Idea: no canabalism challenge, you can’t damage the type you are ,ie: fire can’t kill fire, ice can’t kill ice, etc.
I'm pretty sure you can get a copy essence for gun in rolling road, which would reduce the needed attacks to one. Then again, you don't actually attack anything with the ability so it doesn't really count in my book as an attack and thus the game is done without attacks.

I feel like needle had a massive missed opportunity to have a needle shield. It would have been incredible to just block away instead of beating up a bunch of dogs :(
You could technically don't use the first attack to get Ranger to enter the Hal Room, after you jump on the tree behind the end of the level should appear a Ranger Copy Essence, so you can get the ability without sucking anyone
The challenge can be done with 1 atack with getting ice on rocky rollin road, there no need to absorb the ranger, a ability essense appears(on one of the benches) when you climb the tree and go back down, and presto 1 less atack.
I would love to see this challenge in other Kirby games. Robobot should be a bit easier since Ice won't be your only ability to use, as ESP and Leaf can damage opponents by blocking. Leaf in the same way as Ice and ESP can do a really strong counter attack by timing block.
So alongside the speed boosts offers have mentioned to get to Frosty with the invincibility candy, I would say a small tweak to the rules would let this be possible. At least in the way you went through the game. If you tweaked the rule to not use the attack button *to cause damage to enemies* then it is entirely possible, and to gain access to the HAL room, a ranger ability essence spawns in end area where you shoot the target.
Challenge runs are fun in this game. Like going through and seeing if a single copy ability can beat the game. So far, yes to 2 of them from my playthroughs :P technically 3 from yours lol.

Why? I thought I was SO ORIGINAL doing a Suckless run, and you release this. I started this run long before you even announced you would be going back to Forgotten Land.
Those two moves at the start, would have been unneeded if needle had a shield buff, cause then you can grab the free needle to get Frosty's ice... oh wait

You actually don't need to kill the dog for the gun in stage 3. If you climb on the tree to reach the target a gun ability capsule will spawn in front of the waddle dee cage
You don't have to do treasure roads for rare stones. You can enter present codes in waddle dee town if you have 50 waddle dees minimum
you can cut one of the attacks by not going to the hall room and instead going into the tutorial level and mixing via two bombs (above/below the hover tutorial)

You can get ice in level 1 by putting a Poppy Bros Jr. bomb and a Blade Knight together, narrowing your count down to one attack.
But then he realized that if he uses Max level ice and blocks he can deal damage possibly well blocking and then he suddenly beats the entire game because that ability is so overpowered
I would say if you had ranger ability in rocky rolling road you could shoot a hidden target in the background at the end of the level and you could access a HAL room and get ice early, but I realized you need to inhale the enemy to do that.. it would add a attack, but it would help a lot. just saying :)

I'm convinced that no attacks is possible, with multiplayer. Allow me to explain- Kirby games have a feature where (after eating some food) you can "kiss" another player, and they'll get the same effect of that food (works for regular food, Maxim Tomatoes, and invincibility candy). You might already know where I'm going with this. With good timing, I think 2-4 players, depending, could chain those kisses in the Alivel Mall stage enough to defeat Frosty with it. I think that would also drop his copy ability meaning you would have Ice for the rest of the game. With multiple players and some well timed kisses it should be possible!!
Well, no.
The game is smarter than that, and remembers who had invincibility from what. You simply can't chain it. It does not work. Plus, this game is 2 players max

You can if you were to count moutful as an attack using mouthful storage on the vending machine and doing a cone double jump skip the first fight with wild edge by aligning the vending machine and cone abilities just right
There is some ways to hit bosses without hitting one way is blizzard ice ability which if you block you actually hit the enemy but it does take a long time
I just use that cone glitch, where you line cone kirby against the wall before the boss, spit the cone to the wall, line kirby up against the wall, and jump suck it up and press b, and that's it.

At 8:17 :if you activate that Target by that tree you can get ranger on that bench

1: no pressing b to attack (hot drop from the fire mech is also banned)
2: jumping on stuff with the mech is ok
3: must play on a new safe file
4: The ice shatter(ice Kirby) and parasols active hit box is ok
5: no Amibo
6: invincibility candy is ok
8: assuming I entered the stage with a copy ability and then loose that same copy ability I can re grab it and then restart the level
9: having an enemy run into Kirby and taking damage is banned

At this point I realized something, since I unlock spark before parasol I can mabye get rid of some attacks in Area 1.

… long story short NOPE the only real difference is that 1-1 now has 6 attacks (one extra to grab spark)
And 1-2 now has 4 attacks instead (cuz we don’t grab parasol)

Note: in this stage I released that if your guarding and get hit you can lose you copy ability. This is going to make bosses a little bit easier

oh, i would've assumed both the ice block and the copy abilities were an attack going into this
Alternatively instead of going to the HAL room to get ice early, you could've just taken the fire ability essence nearby and held attack all the way throughout Mr Frosty's fight and potentially taken the ice ability from him instead. However I understand how repeatedly spitting flames at someone doesn't seem very peaceful in a 'no attacking challenge'
You can get ice from getting a randomized copy ability. It would only take 1 attack to get it because you only have to inhale once. Theres an easy way to get a random copy ability is on the first level after the float tutorial. You can get a poppy bro to throw a bomb off the wall and down to where theres a sword guy(dunno his name). If you inhale them both you can get a random copy ability, which technically means you can get ice with only 1 attack.
You can actually dodge as ice if you let go of the block button and keep holding a direction, I believe
Could you reduce the number of attacks by getting ice with a mix? If you could use mix to get ice with one “attack/inhale” then the number of attaches could be decreased from 2 to 1

You'd have to Press B to use the Ability of a Mouthful Mode.
