I'm trying to play this again because I played with a band that let me sit in at a rehearsal. They are looking for a bass player. I'm not good enough yet. It was awesome when they started playing this song because I kinda knew how it goes. But I'm missing the walking parts. In your video. I can see you playing it. You make it look easy. And I know it is. One day I'll be there. Thanks 😊
Cool. Don't be too hard on yourself, there is more going on with this bass-line than you might think. I remember really struggling with it when I was young and I put some serious time into putting it together for this video. I'm sure you'll nail it... just keep playing! Take care Luke.
This is awesome!!! I've seen so many butchered tutorials of this song on the internet. This is spot on all the way down to the slide part in the middle. I began thinking I was the only one who heard it that way. Great job.
Nailed another one! Thank you. I also appreciate and admire your highly literate and articulate written commentaries. Truly refreshing compared to so much of the junk all over the interwebs.
You just owned this shuffle. Really a joy to listen to your playing, no matter what kind of tune or genre it is. Interestingly, none of those early fretless players sounded like mwaaaah widdly-widdly-dee *harmonic clang* dee.
Great cover man. I have spent the last few days just watching your videos Dude you got the best ones on the net, Love it! That Guild has such a nice growl to it.
Great story, Now I have to go back and listen to all their music to see if I can detect the idiosyncrasy sounds of a fretless Bass. Liking the collection of your Guild Bass's , Very cool. Cheers.
I must be honest, I prefer the bass fretted, although I really liked the tone from your 'Murder' solo video. Shame that it got taken down. Anywho, great playing once again!
I didn't know the "Murder" video had been taken down. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll get that back up as soon as some of the other copyright smoke has cleared. Out of nowhere, the violations have been going through the roof the past few weeks for some reason. Thanks.
such a great song and a great bass line - well done as always. I see what you mean about that long outro section - lots of tricky bits there - you made them sound right tho
You make it look easy! I've tried playing this and I seem to have a problem with the bass runs for solo guitar part because I don't play by ear ( I'm deaf ). I'll just have to lay it out and memorize it note by note. Great job as always!
I guess it means I'm getting better at playing. When I first picked up the bass two years ago. I was trying to just play everything I liked. After a few months of listening to music I wanted to play this song. I found a video of someone playing with tabs. He played it exactly like you. When I hit the notes right it sounded like it was supposed to. But I couldn't remember it. And stopped practicing it. Now, I can remember songs like this one. I have several I love to play for practice. Do you recommend any songs that are good practice for a beginner like me?
Playing the music you like is a very good idea and it's one of the recommendations I make when anyone asks. You should play the things you enjoy, but a variety of stuff that is beneath, at, and above your skill level. This way you can jump around... if you get frustrated, you can play some simpler stuff just to unwind and then work your way back to the more challenging material. I talk a little bit about this in my "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" cover, which is one I would recommend to you. Thanks and take care, Luke.
I have a spare guild pickup from a 301 in my draw, i want to convert a B302 to a B303, I would like to have to extra pickup next to the bridge. Just have to find a B302 first of all... This has to be the best B302 clip on the net :-)
I have a spare p/u as well and may put it into another bass or possible a custom build if I ever got that route. Actually, I use the bridge p/u only on this bass and the SB-202. I'm not crazy how they sound with the bridge and neck combined. Thanks a lot.
I basically can't achieve the punchy bass tones you get. Are you using any pedals to enhance ? Maybe it's yours hand technic? I've been playing only a short time with no guidance
TJH3113 Hey it's cool, you don't need to waste your talent on it, I can just won't the little blues click on A, D, &E, I can think of better stuff for you than that, just my vocalist wants to do it, no big deal on that one brother.👍
Lynard Brock - If I may. Keep your hands to yourself is another song bands butcher. They hear the chuck berry riff and automatically think, oh I got this. 99.9% of the time......They ain't even close. And the bass on the recording is very deep. The notes are hard to hear. It's not walking through the whole thing.
Just add a disclaimer that states that these videos are for purpose of education. Do you receive money for doing these videos? If not then where is the copyright infringement?
Why the hell does it matter. Can't a bass cover video be just that, a different interpretation of songs by different musicians. Copyright bla bla, does it mean he stole the material because there's no copyright info? NO, so stop complaining about trivial stuff clear by itself and enjoy the video
You're great but here you are making the same mistake others are making, going to the low F instead of octave higher first time through. Very surprised to see you of all people, you are always the most accurate. It happens.
I always loved that song and used to play it in a band when it first came out. People really loved it...
Very cool!

1974... like yesterday... 52 years ago... I'm old. ;-) Very nice cover and an entertaining story.
That's 42 years, but I know how you feel.....
Thanks - that is a complicated outro. Another great bass line that can easily be overlooked.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Norm.
Best RUclips canal for bassplayer i love
Thank you very much for the very kind words.
Along with the music, I love the vivid reflection in your guitar from the window. Your videos are all perfect!
Thank you Marvine.
Thanks for the help with the tricky bits.
Another great video. I enjoy reading your descriptions as much as I enjoy watching the videos. Thanks!
Thanks.
Very good...Bad Company in...Good Company . My favourite bass chanel.
One of the very first bass lines I learned back in the early 70’s. Boz Burrell is a legendary bass player. And not too shabby on the 6 string either.😎
Very cool!
Boz owned the Rockstar ghost-note.
This is awesome!!! I've seen so many butchered tutorials of this song on the internet. This is spot on all the way down to the slide part in the middle. I began thinking I was the only one who heard it that way. Great job.
Another killer Troy. Watching your videos is so much easier to learn from than tab, especially helps with getting the phrasing and groove right.
Thanks.
That's great to hear. If I could tab efficiently, I would. I'm glad you found some of the videos helpful.
Take care.
Boz! That bass has a great tone too. Well executed as usual.
Many thanks Troy, I have to learn this for an upcoming gig. You've just saved me a lot if work.
Great tune! Get get enough!
Nailed another one! Thank you. I also appreciate and admire your highly literate and articulate written commentaries. Truly refreshing compared to so much of the junk all over the interwebs.
I've been a big fan of the late great Boz since 1974
Cool!.
Nice job, thanks.
Thank you!
Another great performance Troy! Wish I could play like you. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks a lot. All it takes is some time and patience.
Damn fine job as always!
Thanks a lot, Dan!
Nice. That's a hard song to keep tight.
Sounds great---Looks like a really fun song to learn/play!
You just owned this shuffle. Really a joy to listen to your playing, no matter what kind of tune or genre it is. Interestingly, none of those early fretless players sounded like mwaaaah widdly-widdly-dee *harmonic clang* dee.
It is a challenging one. I really like that slide part, and how it gets more raunchy towards the end.
Yeah, the bass line really builds towards the end of the song.
Very nice .... Thanks for this
Great cover man. I have spent the last few days just watching your videos Dude you got the best ones on the net, Love it! That Guild has such a nice growl to it.
Thanks a lot. I'm very fond of the Guilds as well.
Smooth as silk!
Thanks.
Another nicely done cover. I have learned several tunes from your covers for an upcoming show
Thanks a lot. That's great to hear.
Didn't know this song and just loved it! Awesome! You're great man. Greetings from Brazil. o/
Great story, Now I have to go back and listen to all their music to see if I can detect the idiosyncrasy sounds of a fretless Bass.
Liking the collection of your Guild Bass's , Very cool.
Cheers.
They used to call me Bad Company 😜, (The 80s).
Excellent Cover Troy.
Nailed it as always 👍
Classic.
Thank you very much.

Boz was such a great bass player. Great job man.
Yes he was. Thanks.
I'm liking it. 😀
I'm glad to hear that.
You are a great bass player
Thanks, Pedro
such a great song and a great bass line - well done as always. I see what you mean about that long outro section - lots of tricky bits there - you made them sound right tho
Thanks a lot.
Once more, THANK YOU! Need this one for 2 upcoming sub gigs 😁
Awesome! I'm glad I could help.
Great job Troy, I have a request. Joe Lynn Turner - Power of Love. Thanks for video mate.
You make it look easy! I've tried playing this and I seem to have a problem with the bass runs for solo guitar part because I don't play by ear ( I'm deaf ). I'll just have to lay it out and memorize it note by note. Great job as always!
Oh how many times I've watched as bassists butcher this song. Not you. As usual. Spot on.
Is that true? Thanks a lot.
TJH3113 - Unfortunately, it is true. I been around live bands for 20 plus years. So many just assume they got it. Most dont. You do. Excellent man.
You've got a Treason May mask there, 2nd from right middle row
That's the scariest one
Nah, that's a Zombie Boris...
Nice Troy…. Funky perfect…
Many thanks, Kim...
Yeah great number. Actually the whole album is nice to listen to. The sound fits nice with this number ... !
heyyy the great bad co
thanks so much for posting, can you give some tips on tone for this one, amp + setting
can you cover "Peace of mind" by Boston so I can learn it? lol
I'll check it out.
Excellent cover. Is there a tab of it??
Thanks. No tabs, sorry.

I love the tune . What are you using? I got know....please
That’s great to hear, Pete. What do you mean… What guitar? What pedal?
I basically can't achieve the punchy bass tones you get. Are you using any pedals to enhance ? Maybe it's yours hand technic? I've been playing only a short time with no guidance
I FUCKIN love it
Glad to hear that! Thanks David.
thanks for posting...learned this and war pigs from watching your vids...great job
That's great to hear! Thanks for letting me know.
Love your Vids.. Could really use tabs sometimes Thanks man!!!!
Thank you, that's great to hear. I'm not really up on tabs, but my most recent Kansas covers do include links to tabs and sheet music.
Great job brother? You know I haven't seen anyone do "keep your hands to yourself" Have you thought about that one?
Thanks a lot. I'll check it out...not really sure it it's up my alley.
TJH3113 Hey it's cool, you don't need to waste your talent on it, I can just won't the little blues click on A, D, &E, I can think of better stuff for you than that, just my vocalist wants to do it, no big deal on that one brother.👍

May I ask how many Basses? ..I know as a bassist myself ..yes dear just one more
It was over 30, but I'm down to around 17... and counting.
hey what sansamp settings are you using for your jazz bass?

Can't get enough practicing my bass.
How long have you been playing the bass?
Decades.
The first F in the intro is an octave up.
Right you are.
excelentay 10-4
Thanks.
WELL I 'LL TAKE WHATEVER I WANT...BABY I WANT YOU...I'LL TAKE THAT GUILD FROM YOU...BEWARE MR TJ3113...
Haha.
You're great but here you are making the same mistake others are making, going to the low F instead of octave higher first time through. Very surprised to see you of all people, you are always the most accurate. It happens.
Right you are. I have no excuse for that.
