I just bought my 1st ponytail palm. I checked to see if it needs to be water which it did, so I bottom water which is a lot better every 10 minutes I check to see how far the water traveled. I do have a full-spectrum grow bulb for my plants.
Johanna Aguirre, I'm so glad the video is informative for you! Here is another one on what to do if you've overwatered a houseplant that might help: ruclips.net/video/8k1Frd4KgQM/видео.html
I love these plants. I have 5 of them at home …. 2 of them have really curly leaves like curly hair. I had them for 2 years now. Put them outside for the summer and put it inside for the winter. Amazing tropical plants
@marythomas1877, If the caudex (the rounded part at the base of the plant) is not squishy to the touch, you might be able to save the plant. However, if that is soft to the touch, it is likely experiencing rot. These plants should not be watered very often. Was the plant overwatered?
@qltygrl3187, It's been a long time since this question. It could have been not watering enough--especially if the caudex is a little shriveled and the soil is really dry. If the plant has been in the same pot for 3 or more years, it could also need repotting.
How come yours has two boxes of leaf growth. All I have and have seen have one central nose of b leaf growth. In India, from where I belong they are so much in abundance that it literally cost me $2 in local currency for a slightly bigger than yours. Its my first time with this plant. It was kept in full sun in nursery. So I did the same. Isn't it a full sun plant.
Manju K, As I mention in this video, sometimes they grow that way with more than one trunk. The plants are full sun outdoors. My channel only covers indoor growing. Ponytail palm is available in certain areas of the world like where you live, where they grow naturally outdoors, but not that readily available in other parts of the world. Are you growing your plant indoors or outdoors? Since it was growing in the nursery in full sun it is fine to grow it outdoors in full sun. Indoors you would want to follow the recommendations of growing in bright light.
@@HealthyHouseplants thank you so much for your reply. I am growing it outdoors but it seems my problem is local. Nurseries here don't water them in winters for 2-3 months as these are out in open. So the one I got has more dead roots. This is my first such plant. I have potted in well draining mix and kept in terracotta pot in half day sun. I like watching many of your videos for tricks. Like rooting media for pothos. And how you rescue your plants. Such videos give me ideas for my local arrangements here since weather, potting mixture, many things are different but concepts remain the same. Thank you so much for your tips and tricks videos.

This is so informative. I just discovered I’ve overwatered it 😥 hoping it will recover. Thank you

They are great plants. I bet your collection is lovely with all those ponytails!
I love tropical plants. So I have other indoor plants for my collection. ..
@@ExoticLove88 That's great. I find the really tropical plants to be the most eye-catching, especially indoors.
I so love this plant and the 🏜️ 🌹 desert rose! Don't have either. Those trunks are so unique to me. Very hard to find here in Arizona 🎋
Sharon Holmes, They are both beautiful plants, and so unique! :)
I have a ponytail plant that has no leaves is it worth saving can someone answer that for me

My leaf tips are turning brown. I’ve also seen a few all brown leaves. Does that mean I’m not watering it enough? Or it needs a bigger pot?

Thank you 💚💚💚💚💚
Silvana Ansaldo F, nice to hear from you, and you're very welcome!
How often do you mist without watering it too much?
@kimlalee5524, You can mist once or twice a day and should be okay, providing the mist isn't wetting the soil too much.
My ponytail is very unhealthy. Suspected root rot. Do I just try to repot it?
@bonayhensberg4226, Repotting could help the plant. Check out my root rot playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLCkPgo-m1DrHckHemrnrajhQCs-VcX6dm
