the vast majority of anything relating to anorexia or bulimia seems to almost always take the rather feminist stance that the problem is simply due to pressure on females by males to look a certain way (the fact that just as much pressure is applied by other females is rarely mentioned). this vid is one of the precious few that actually portray them as addictions in their own right especially as regards the reward pathways in the brain.
i've participated in 12 step groups on and off and we all know people in recovery will often gain weight once they cease their other addictions (in other words start practicing food addiction) but many many people in recovery (esp. females) will develop anorexia or bulimia once sober or may have even been comorbid while still drinking/using. i believe in order to effectively treat eating disorders they need to be viewed as more than just morbid fear of gaining weight.

We are glad we were able to portray/convey the severity of alcohol and substance use and how they affect and can contribute to disordered eating and eating disorders. Eating disorders are so much more than a fear of gaining weight. Thank you for your insight!
