  • Ecovative's Industrial Designer Grace Knight gives a quick overview of BioDesign, Mushrooms, and how Ecovative utilizes mycelium in their MycoComposite™, AirMycelium™ Technology, and MyForest Foods platforms, followed by a Q&A.
Ecovative is the mycelium technology company that designs and grows sustainable materials that come straight from nature. Our Mycelium Foundry designs fully formed structures that perform just like or better than plastic, leather, meat, and more turning to compost at the end of their life to meet demand without the environmental costs.
Established in 2007, Ecovative provides leading research and development of mycological technologies to grow sustainable, fully biodegradable materials and products. Our Mycelium Foundry uses the most comprehensive fungal strain library for mycological material technology in the world. Drawing from this library for our proprietary AirMycelium™ process, we amplify and leverage the natural properties of specific strains to grow unique bio-materials that meet our clients' needs.

what about a makers space type of business format? kitchen ovens are limiting in what most can make, making large ovens and community makers space would be pretty cool.. could also function as research+manufacturing for your current custom molds orders..

First of all Tanks for this Talk and Information.
But Im disappointed that the already canceled the Community approach.
I could neither open the Forum nor the instructions Page. Spores arent included in their kits anymore.
I totally unterstand the need to earn money as a company but this just doesnt seem right. The technology should be acessable by everyone..

How about the CO2 ? did it have its importance in mycelium density of the mycoflex?

Are they talking about patents at any point in this presentation? I saw that they actually have a couple of patents out there and I was wondering whether they actually hinder other people to produce packaging material from regional sources.

I have been designing thin interlocking origami panels of different polygons and angles and I want to inoculate them with mycelium so that they grow together.
Does evocative have opportunities for visiting artist/designers?

Most of these products are inferior to plastic. All they bring to the table is that they can decompose. It seems evil to stick a patent on something like this.
