    These are deeply interesting ontological issues- also from a Lacanian pov- the gaze of the other in developing a self concept- I live in a “post” colonial island, and the external invalidation by systems that are meant to help and protect you…. Also, this is problematic when even self reporting your symptoms- why isn’t race, class and culture taken more into consideration in both diagnosis and treatment?
    I am so utterly disappointed by the system we have here. And the more you bring up these issues- you realize the power of the position psychiatrist/psychologist have.
