    To say that they can't learn English is saying that these women are too stupid to learn. If they are having trouble, I am sure there are English speaking people to invite them to a community center to tutor them for an hour even with a baby in their arm. It is actually beneficial for them because they will become more independent and have better understanding of the laws and be able to communicate with neighbors to be friendly and have relationships of friendship. Checking on them once a year could also help them to make sure they are not being abused or held against their will and make sure they are not being radicalized.

      Senator Louise Pratt, is just that.... there were thousands of Migrants that came to Australia post ww2, without any English, apart from what they learnt from the UK, OZ & USA soldiers, and that was limited to please, TU, OK, no much, but the men went to work the day after arrival with really no English and they learnt on the job.... The women which was the time almost like paradise and women could choose, and they choose to stay home,, if the couldnt get to gov English classes they learnt from the radio and from their children... so us kids did all our lessons twice, once during school day and then again teach our parents at home....
      Maybe that is why there was a higher % of wogs getting scholarships to universities???
      As for Pratt her experience seem very limited...
      from Wikipedia
      She was the youngest woman ever elected to the Legislative Council at the time of her election, the second open lesbian to be elected to an Australian parliament, and was the first to have a transgender man as a partner.
      Maybe she should stick to what she has experience in...??

      the constitution is not being followed properly, it has had its impact negated by the Australia Act which removed the effective power of the Governor General.

      Good retort. I would guess it's because the Aussies came from England and had a better way of life as far as living standards are concerned, so I presume they preferred to stay in the current year as opposed to regressing to a way of life that's been abandoned or pushed out of 99% of the world. Guess the aboriginals should have elected Trump and built the great wall of Australia as soon as those whitebacks started pouring in through their borders lol.

      When in Rome ..... do as Romans do, that does not apply to the whites. May be the muslims should not do either. The might think the current Aussies culture is regressive.. if I follow your logic.

    • @bobbybee2975
      @bobbybee2975 5 лет назад +1

      ROFL...it doesn't apply to whites? As if Romans (Italians) aren't white? Are you a white supremacist? Those are the only people I know who don't consider Italians white. Whites invented that phrase dude. Aussie culture is regressive, like the US/west it is being taken over by intersectional feminists, the most regressive force in the world today. I think if you are going to move to another country you should do so with the intent of assimilating to their culture but if the Aussies assimilated to aboriginal culture they'd be as easily taken over by another culture that wanted their land as the aboriginals were by the Aussies. So I guess it's when in Rome, do as the Romans, unless you move to a tribal society that's eons behind the rest of the worlds developed nations than you should try to help the natives catch up with the remainder of humanity. Tribal cultures are about as regressive as we can get and if Muslims or anyone who comes to the west doesn't want to join us in the current year they should stay where they are or find somewhere that better matches their own desires for a way of life.

    Pauline thank you for this level of transparency, it's very refreshing, I was very impressed with young Imam approach and presentation, I agree the citizenship period prior to acceptance should be extended for many reasons and those examples discussed. National security needs to be priority no.1 for our nation, without which no nation really lives in peace. I was delighted to hear Iman Mohammad explain the correct definition of Multiculturalism. Many many anglo saxon nations and people living in australia or around the world and more typically those with left of centre views in any politics, do not understand its correct meaning. As a result many nations in europe are in absolute chaos and their countries are swiftly being brought to their knees. I include many advanced mature nations, not necessarily young countries. Language is a key cornerstone in any migrants ability to be assimilated into a new nation, and being able to integrate into the Australian culture and values is key to success for their new lives. If they are unwilling or unable to abide by this nations laws then their individual scope for a bright future is questionable and citizen ship won't be a success for the nation. Well done Imam and Pauline for getting this government to sit up and pay attention. Hopefully acts like these will put an end to the opposition party members who like to attack One Nation on its alleged ethnic/cultural views and spend more time working pragmatically towards finding solutions for Australia's future, we don't want to end up like europe. Over the last 10 years, that's exactly where we have been heading, hence our problems to date and we know who was running the country then. Lastly Citizenship should never be referred to as a weapon 38:49 mins simple a tool to attract the right candidates and discourage others who we know won't assimilate and if other nations need to sit through or attend courses that don't always apply to them, then so be it, but national security should always come first. If we don't all start on the same page we are unlikely to have a common culture we can unite behind, so make it extremely clear in the beginning.

    "test of what an Australian looks like" did I just hear that right, massive strawman argument. As I can tell, the actual argument is based on behavior, that is, is the person behaving in a way that can lead to integration. As a sponsor of an immigrant, I take offence to what Louise Pratt just said. Key to integration is learning English and being confident with English, confident enough to have meaningful conversation with other people using English and this, under current legislation isn't happening within certain communities.
    Another major mistake Louise Pratt made is that women, on average have better language skills than men, to say that women are at a disadvantage when it comes to learning language because being at home and looking after the house is total non-sense. The only reason I can see why these women aren't picking up English is because their husbands/fathers aren't allowing it, because they don't want the women to integrate into western culture. Having the government make allowances for this is cultural relativism and that's far leftist non-sense.

I agree with Imam Mohammed that they need more rigorous training, testing, longer wait times, he actually surprises me, he comes out openly and says yes these are the problems in our communities and we need to make it clear that this is not acceptable in our society. We do not see that level of honesty often, an this is the dialogue we need, hopefully he can be a bridge so we can all get communicating together in a honest and respectful manner.
