I'm on my second week of ketosis. And it has been miraculous. I started this because i had the harsh realization of having to inject myself with insulin. I wanted to fix that. Never did i expect it would be this fast. I went from 11mmol in the mornings to 5mmols. Been insuline free for 3 days, and i lost 4.5kg. I'd call that a win.
With so much crap and annoying and boring fake American doctors on RUclips this is refreshing and clear and I feel I’m not being overwhelmed with rubbish I just don’t need.. and - find I’m eager for the next video as I’m actually learning instead of getting confused with complicated conflicting info. Brilliant!!
I tryed to do keto for months with no success, untill I found Dr boz, I understood her teaching so well and was able to get into ketosis within days after removing sweeteners and emptying my liver and started to loose 1lb a day 14lb in a week and added sweeteners later on and carried on loosing a 1lb a day!!, thank you Dr boz
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes exactly one month ago. My A1C was 11.1% and BG was 450. They put me on metformin and wanted me to start taking insulin. I refused the insulin and I took myself off the metformin last week. I've been eating no carbs at all and my BG is now in the 80 to 90's range. I have also lost about 45 lbs so far. I know far too many people with type 2 diabetes that have been taking three or more medications and they still don't have their BG under control. You can control this with diet. Don't get stuck on the medication merry go round.
What a tremendous change you have effected in your life!!!!!! Without asking I will wager much credit is due to RUclips and the like which facilitates REAL education being disseminated to the public. Doctor Boz would you please take charge of the medical schools in this country?
I've been on the Keto diet and under 20g carbs for 8 1/2 months but went back to review for my nephew that is planning to give this a try. Awesome into to Keto! This is truly a simple diet, but it's not easy!
I've been keto/low carb for years. I'm also a clinician, and I've been looking for a video to share with clients that truly explains the science behind eating. I just found your channel! I've never heard diabetes and keto explained this way - fantastic explanation. Thank you! I will definitely pass your videos along!
I've been diabetic type 2 since 2012 and I am about 60 pounds over weight .Since 2012 my fasting blood sugars have been around the 140-150 mark. I started keto combined with 16:8 IF 8 days ago, at which time I stopped taking all meds (I was on metformin, dapagliflozin, and ramapril - but not any more!). Today, I finally emptied my liver with a fasting blood sugar of 82.8. So relieved to finally get there! I have also lost 6.6 pounds and my average blood pressure if 116/75 if not slightly less! You have been such a source of education and inspiration to me, Dr Bosworth. I will always be grateful to you!
Geez Charles! I'm actually tearing up reading your post! I'm on the verge of going Keto, but am really struggling with changing my diet. Your story has been tremendously inspirational. Thanks so much for sharing. All the best to you!
I have been trying Keto for 7 months and have lost 50 pounds so far I have learned more in the last month than I knew before but this video gave me insight to things I didn't know, thank you so much for caring about others enough to gather and share this information.
I've been eating keto for nine months now. I just came across your channel today. I appreciate how you explained that our liver is empty when our fasting blood sugar is below 100. I never heard it explained that way before.
@@johnnygross4415 Yes fatty liver can cause a host medical of issues. It can also lead to liver failure in the long run. I have fatty liver and I've been eating keto and losing weight. Take your diagnosis as a kick in the butt to start taking better care of yourself before anything serious happens. I didn't take it seriously and now I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a month ago. I should have taken it more serious before I got to this point.
I quite smoking over two years ago and ate my way into pre-diabetes...Yeah!...not.. Got my blood test results back a few weeks ago. I'm 6'3" and 220lbs (ugh, I hate even saying it, I was always 185-190lbs, and I'm not a muscle 220, I'm a flabby, fat 220) at a bmi of 30, my glucose is horrendous and my blood pressure went through the roof. I started keto 5 days ago and it is pretty good, when you have support like your videos. I'm watching your videos on how to counteract bad symptoms of keto, and they are helping. (still extremely constipated, took some M of M) Look, I got myself into this mess and I have to get myself out, no one else can do it for me. Thanks for caring enough to make these videos for us...
taking a pill for diabetes is for the lazy people, who want the easy way out. Changing your diet is way harder, and getting used to fasting, for 7 or more days, and intermittent fasting is even harder. Sure you fall off the wagon once in awhile, but you got to get back on it right away. I'm glad you admit that you got yourself in to this. I'm in the same boat. drinking a gallon or more of soda for years, got me into this. Good luck on your journey to health!!
Thanks for sharing Ed! I'm on the verge of going keto, and incredibly heartened by so many of these posts, including yours! I'm so afraid of changing my diet, as it's so comfortable and social! But the more I learn and read, the more I realize I have to make these changes. Thanks so much for sharing. You've been a tremendous inspiration. I wish you the very best!
Hey Dr Boz, I'm a 57 year old type 2 diabetic women who seriously thought I'd be fat and diabetic for the rest of my life. I've researched keto and watched all your videos, and I'm happy to say I'm in ketosis and my blood sugar numbers are way down. I've started loosing weight, and I have clarity of thought. It's only upwards from here. Thanks for all your advise. 😍
Right on, Julie! I'm on the verge of going Keto, but am struggling with letting go of my previous eating habits. However posts like yours literally bring tears to my eyes! Thanks so much for your post. ...and Doug Crammit...loosen up! :-)
D. B. Ginther, Beginning the Keto Diet: Day one, phase 1: The first two weeks. Burn Through The Sugar in my Blood. Medical issues; last few years, forced me to use inhalers for my lungs condition. Dr. Boz is my life line. My plan is to join her group of success stores. Great content in Dr Boz videos.
I've read so much about Keto and I've never had it explained so thoroughly as I watching this. I'm one of those who have been frustrated with Keto and now I know why. I'm jumping back in the game thanks to this video and your explanation.
I'm in the exact same boat as I type this. I'm so heartened by the posts I'm reading from folks who, through a keto diet, have lost weight, and gone off their medication, because their diet is taking care of everything! I'm transitioning to a keto diet, but very reticent about changing my eating habits. However, it's clear to me that it's the way to go. I wish you all the best in your journey!
WOW That is all I can say Wow. I have never heard this explained like this and I have been a nurse 37 years and on Keto off and on for 6 months. I have had no weight loss and I am so discouraged I want to cry. This is a real eye opener for me. TYTYTY
I'm halfway through Dr. Boz's book: Any Way You Can. For the first time I totally understand why Keto has been so difficult for me and why I get sabotaged. This time I see success in front of me. I've never seen anyone explain the process so clearly. Thank you, Dr. Boz.
Thank you Doctor Boz. My Dr. and my nurse daughter have told me for years to quit the artificial sugar. the first time I watched this video was the last time I had artificial sugar. I am in your class and loving it. My nurse daughter is now on board.
Great content in Dr Boz videos. I loss 100 lbs in 6 months doing LCHF and intermittent fasting. ... just saw these Dr Boz videos today and they are some of the best KETO / LCHF content on the web. Thank You Dr Boz
Omg...never understood why fasting before blood work was necessary. "Did you empty your liver?" Wow... You did such a good job explaining everything. Thanks!!
I’ve listened to many explanations of the roles of insulin, glucose, glycogen and the liver and this is by far the best. I really get it now. You are a gifted teacher Dr Boz. Thank goodness for you!!!
Wow you know what Doc ? You surely make us understand the complex facts in a very simple manner . For example we know many hit plateau at one point but none explained it better than you . 👌👏👏👏
I'm shocked about the information regarding the effects of sweeteners on the body!!! Noone has ever told this, nowhere!!! How many female's magazines, doctors advices, and ... nothing :-) Also genious to measure the glucose level in the blood in the morning, I was actually instinctively thinking about to buy a blood sugar measuring machine, but now I will definately do it. THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr. BOZ, you're giving a great help to all of us!! God bless you!
Because of Dr. Boz and this series of videos, I just bought a blood glucose monitor (I couldn't wait for my next Dr appt). My morning, fasting level was 125...*YIKES*!!! I know I am overweight and suspected I was insulin resistant, but it's scary finding out I'm a beginning type-2 diabetic. I've tried "keto" before and it didn't stick. Turns out I didn't know as much about keto as I thought I did, so now I'm in research mode (I've already filled in many gaps from these vids)...I plan to learn from Dr. Boz how to get started the right way and get my body adapted to burning ketones. I bought her books along with some pee sticks, I ordered an a1c test, and I'll probably enroll in the Consistently Keto course. I'm already planning on getting my potential "tribe" copies of Anyway You Can. What an eye-opener.
I’ve just started the Keto way of eating. I’m a little bewildered by all the information but I’m getting there. This video was very well explained and clear. I’ve also ordered a book for vegetarian Keto recipes. Thank you.
So impressed with these videos ..clear concise and a pleasure to watch, with a Dr that actually sounds like a Dr ..if all teachers had your skills to get their points across all children would grow up geniuses.
I thought I was well informed, by not until i listened to your videos. you have an amazing abiliy to clearly explain a complicated subject that anyone can understand. Thank you !
Lorraine ... these videos all came from a section of the book. The book is way better. I like the audiobook the best. www.audible.com/pd/B07B4MPCNR/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWT-BK-ACX0-109682&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_109682_rh_us
The information you provide has changed the lives in a positive way for thousands of people, and I love that. Seriously though, drop the stethoscope and lab coat. We know your a doctor, it tells us that at the top of every title of your video. You have already earned our respect. The stethoscope and lab coat thing is like one of those guys driving around with the monster tires on his truck.
What an awesome video! I've never heard it explained like this before. I have new clarity on my stall and what's going on with me. Dr. Boz thank you! I think I'm going to watch this one again.
I am 52 yrs old and disabled. One of my health issues is fatty liver from poor diet. I am doing keto and uts been 3 weeks now. I only checked with my Neurologist and she said it should be ok. I feel better and I'm also drinking ketones which curbs my appetite and gives me energy. Well see what happens
@Pale Horse, I started out at over 400 blood glucose. Within a week I was able to get it down in to the 110 range just by cutting carbs and sugar out of my diet. And now a month later I'm in the 80 to 90 range. You can do it.
Greetings from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Your videos are of great quality, congratulations. The importance of your dialogues requires that they be translated and put as subtitles. Please try to do so as soon as possible in Spanish, the community that loves good health will thank you.
What a great video , now I get it ... I'm definitely going to start and clean out my liver 👍 thank you Sooo much for this very informative video , I love this type of information 👌
Not sure if you mentioned this, but assuming an individual loses a significant amount of weight with keto, will their liver shrink back down to normal size? Or has the damage been done? Thanks for this excellent series. It has opened my eyes to a new aspect of dieting. I had not previously taken stores in the liver into account.
Thank you so much for explaining this to us in such simple terms.. Now I can pass the info on to my friends and family when they ask what a ketogenic diet does for us..
Brilliant and so much information. I have watched so may RUclips vids to try and understand how my body works, but none have come close to yours. I will order your book tonight. Keep up the great work. Thank you Dr Bosworth.
hi. am 70 almost... over weight. and trying keto. lol. and failing. your book! and your failure after 1 month!! makes me feel better. just bought book on kindle for myself, and pb copy for my partner and to loan to my physician and dietician! thank you.
My fasting was 113 this morning! This is after weeks of low carb. But I have been using stevia drops in coffee. I had no idea it was screwing me from emptying my liver.
Love this video. Now I know why I am taking my reading in the AM. I would guess I am now prediabetic because my reading is between 101 and 105 most mornings consistently. I have just started the ketogenic way of eating yesterday so hope my liver has not grown so much that I can’t shrink it back down to normal if that can even happen. I sure hope it can “shrink” back to it’s normal size. Thanks again for a wonderful explanation.
@Bhseeker01 look into water fasting. Snake diet specifically. 7 days fasting will prob get u to ur goal weight in just that amount of time...plus it will do some healing.
Enjoyed your video. Have read three books of late explaining current research about the fat/lower carb approach to health. I have a healthy BMI, but have seen an increase of three inches in my waste size over the last five years. I am a 67 year old male. Recent blood tests revealed fasting glucose just below 100, but elevated cholesterol. My heart calcium score is 50, thus prompting my physician to consider advising me to begin a statin regimen. Have been on a statin for 6 weeks and do not like the side effects at all. The ketogenic diet makes sense for losing fat, and was wondering if you could explain how such a diet contributes to a healthy heart. Current research seems to suggest that treating cholesterol may not be the best approach to preventing a heart event Thanks Tony
Glad I went to this video from your post today. I was wondering why my glucose is starting to rise in the morning even tho I've been low carb for over 3 years. I'm doing something wrong.
This explains so much. as a African woman carb (rice) is our mean dish. I couldn’t understand why I was on keto for 30days and I couldn’t go into ketosis, that plus I substituted sugar for sweeteners. 😱😱😱
Would you please do a video on whatt to do to keep the brain happy and working while trying to become keto adapted?? I have been trying to get into astray ketosis for about 6 months now but brain fog and fatigue would send me reaching for a sweet potato to keep my brain going. I never understood why it wasn't working. Until this video. I know that I have an enlarged liver and now I know what to do! Please tell people like me how to keep their brain going while they clean out their liver!!!
I have been on Keto for 8 days and couldn't figure out why my morning blood sugars were still thru the roof. I have been diabetic since 2008 but have never taken Insulin. I am showing morning ketones as small but sugar is still high. I am so thankful I found this video. I am subscribed and will be buying your book. I like the way you bring things down to a laypersons level. Can you take ketone supplements while you sugar is high. Mine started at 220 and is down to 175 in the AM. I didn't know if it was safe to take it with high sugar. I fasted for 24 hours yesterday and it helped my numbers. I too have had some diet pop and you have answered my questions. Thank You so much!!!!
Dr. Boz just gave me the reality check I needed to get serious about getting rid of artificial sweeteners from my diet. I'm going to miss my once a day diet Coke.
I use Allulose as a sweetener. According to my research it doesn’t effect glucose or insulin levels. Maybe I’ll come across a Dr, Boz video where she addresses this.
We use a sweetener created by a husband for his diabetic wife, which he named, “Whey Low.” It has 75% fewer calories than sugar. Have you heard of this sweetener before? My Sister is diabetic and he said he’d rather she not use Stevia as a sweetener because of the way it’s processed? Stevia comes from a plant, so how could it be bad for you? My husband and I began by completely cutting out bread and bread products. I’m a new subscriber trying to determine some other foods we can eat. I think we’ve exhausted the 3-5 “go to” meals I’ve thought of. Thank you for the information you shared in the Beginners Keto Diet. Blessings!
"Stevia comes from a plant, so how could it be bad for you." Do you realize just how dumb that statement is? Cobra venom is natural, so how could it be bad for you?
I am on Metformin and Glimeperide for diabetes since age 50. I am now 76. My son shared keto diet and I have been doing it five days.

Great work dr.
I lost 50 kgs on the keto diet in 14 months I now weigh 78 kgs and stand 5 ft 9 inches tall .
No diabetes or blood pressure anymore

Thank you for very CLEAR, PRECISE information...
5 minutes and I just have to say this is SO informative. You do a fantastic job breaking down the science behind keto.
This is the best explanation of Keto from a Doctor. Normally Doctors are the WORST when it comes to understanding these. Keep on going Boz.

Lorraine ... these videos all came from a section of the book. The book is way better. I like the audiobook the best. www.audible.com/pd/B07B4MPCNR/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWT-BK-ACX0-109682&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_109682_rh_us
I love these short facts videos, I love the science behind it all, it’s the knowledge that makes sense for me to move forwards with my own journey.
Awesome content. Love the way you explain things. You ask questions we as the audience may be thinking.
Well 1st time here. 52 years of age and 75 lbs over weight and my blood sugar is at 275. Sounds like I need to get on this ASAP.
Well did you?
Hope you are on your way to improved health
@Pale Horse, I started out at over 400 blood glucose. Within a week I was able to get it down in to the 110 range just by cutting carbs and sugar out of my diet. And now a month later I'm in the 80 to 90 range. You can do it.
They have been fooling us to keep the billion dollar diabetes giants rich.
@@kihntagious you said a mouthful there!
You are a good teacher Dr. Thanks very much.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR EXPLAINING IT TO ME!!! I FINALLY understand the importance of intermittent fasting!!
This video was amazing. I learned more in this short video than I have in years.
This video just gave me the BEST example of getting past phase 2 of the KETO DIET, I have ever heard !!!!! On to the second video .....
Thank thank you for this information. I’ve been over weight for 25 years!! I’m starting tomorrow
I read a lot about body and ketosys, never got this perspective. Many thanks for the video.
Great Video. I am dealing with this right now. My sugars do not correct fast enough. Cant wait for the next video.
I love you good woman! Thanks, your effort to educate us!
Greetings from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Your videos are of great quality, congratulations. The importance of your dialogues requires that they be translated and put as subtitles. Please try to do so as soon as possible in Spanish, the community that loves good health will thank you.
Excellent explanation of Insulin Resistance!
Thanks! My doc thought a level 99 was ok.. NOT. This is what I needed to know. Why my body is not having the same results as others. Much appreciated!
So excellent. ....I have no words to explain so much I have learned. ..
Brilliant and so much information. I have watched so may RUclips vids to try and understand how my body works, but none have come close to yours. I will order your book tonight. Keep up the great work. Thank you Dr Bosworth.
Yeah!! That is so nice of you to share such words of support & encouragement. Thank you!
Thank you Dr! I’m following every step that you teach.
You’re amazing!!
Great explanation for what’s needed to move to weight loss
hi. am 70 almost... over weight. and trying keto. lol. and failing. your book! and your failure after 1 month!! makes me feel better. just bought book on kindle for myself, and pb copy for my partner and to loan to my physician and dietician! thank you.
Excellent explanation of this diet in particular insulin resistance and the benefits.
Wow-thank you Dr Boz! I finally understand what a fatty liver means and the importance of emptying my liver!!!
Thank you!!! This is so simple & you are a great teacher. Thank you!!!
Good video. I wont mention my blood sugar this morning other than to say "not empty yet". Working on it. Great positive video. Thank you.
My fasting was 113 this morning! This is after weeks of low carb. But I have been using stevia drops in coffee. I had no idea it was screwing me from emptying my liver.
She explains everything so well!
This is a very informative video. Thank you for helping me to understand this better!
Great info. Learned a lot from this video. You are Great. Thank you.
Great explanation of fasting glucose!
I am officially back on the keto diet and looking forward to the results. Anyone else had success doing it?
@Bhseeker01 look into water fasting. Snake diet specifically. 7 days fasting will prob get u to ur goal weight in just that amount of time...plus it will do some healing.
Yes I lost 50 lbs on it. I was strict low carb/high fat. Under 20 grams of carbs per day. No cheat days. Took me 5 months.
Long story short, keto gave me heart arrythmia, really shitty mood and finally a stroke. Devils diet!
John Snow ohhhh good for you!
@@JosephDeLosSantos-t3m What do you mean?
I'm going to try again. You explain everything perfectly!!!
What a brilliant explanation , thank you SO much 💃☺
Enjoyed your video. Current research seems to suggest that treating cholesterol may not be the best approach to preventing a heart event
Thanks Tony
Amazingly educational! Thank you!
Thank you. This is just the information I've been looking for. You make more sense than all the other keto videos put together.
Thank you for EXPLAINING THIS NUANCE.... so clearly!!
Glad I went to this video from your post today. I was wondering why my glucose is starting to rise in the morning even tho I've been low carb for over 3 years. I'm doing something wrong.
Thank you very much Dr. Boz to explain how to empty liver, and move to the next...
Never heard an explanation like this... thanks 😊
Wow beautiful Doctor Boz shares ! Thanks doc! You are awesome!
Dr.Boz is a babe! I just found this channel and i am glad i did. Very informative material!
Loved the explorations so much and open my eyes so wide I need to watch it again. Thank you. One like for Self Love. ✊👍
Thank you soooo much for breaking this liver process down.
The best explanation I have seen on RUclips so far. Excellent.
Thanks Annette.
I’ve been enjoying your videos
Very informative. Thank you so much!
Lightbulb moment!! Thanks for info!
