I'm on my second week of ketosis. And it has been miraculous.
I started this because i had the harsh realization of having to inject myself with insulin. I wanted to fix that.
Never did i expect it would be this fast. I went from 11mmol in the mornings to 5mmols. Been insuline free for 3 days, and i lost 4.5kg. I'd call that a win.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes exactly one month ago. My A1C was 11.1% and BG was 450. They put me on metformin and wanted me to start taking insulin. I refused the insulin and I took myself off the metformin last week. I've been eating no carbs at all and my BG is now in the 80 to 90's range. I have also lost about 45 lbs so far. I know far too many people with type 2 diabetes that have been taking three or more medications and they still don't have their BG under control. You can control this with diet. Don't get stuck on the medication merry go round.

I've been diabetic type 2 since 2012 and I am about 60 pounds over weight .Since 2012 my fasting blood sugars have been around the 140-150 mark. I started keto combined with 16:8 IF 8 days ago, at which time I stopped taking all meds (I was on metformin, dapagliflozin, and ramapril - but not any more!). Today, I finally emptied my liver with a fasting blood sugar of 82.8. So relieved to finally get there! I have also lost 6.6 pounds and my average blood pressure if 116/75 if not slightly less! You have been such a source of education and inspiration to me, Dr Bosworth. I will always be grateful to you!

Take your diagnosis as a kick in the butt to start taking better care of yourself before anything serious happens. I didn't take it seriously and now I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a month ago. I quite smoking over two years ago and ate my way into pre-diabetes...Yeah!...not.. Got my blood test results back a few weeks ago. I'm 6'3" and 220lbs (ugh, I hate even saying it, I was always 185-190lbs, and I'm not a muscle 220, I'm a flabby, fat 220) at a bmi of 30, my glucose is horrendous and my blood pressure went through the roof. I started keto 5 days ago and it is pretty good, when you have support like your videos. I'm watching your videos on how to counteract bad symptoms of keto, and they are helping. (still extremely constipated, took some M of M) Look, I got myself into this mess and I have to get myself out, no one else can do it for me. Thanks for caring enough to make these videos for us...

taking a pill for diabetes is for the lazy people, who want the easy way out. Changing your diet is way harder, and getting used to fasting, for 7 or more days, and intermittent fasting is even harder. Sure you fall off the wagon once in awhile, but you got to get back on it right away. I'm glad you admit that you got yourself in to this. I'm in the same boat. drinking a gallon or more of soda for years, got me into this. Good luck on your journey to health!!

Because of Dr. Boz and this series of videos, I just bought a blood glucose monitor (I couldn't wait for my next Dr appt). My morning, fasting level was 125...*YIKES*!!! I know I am overweight and suspected I was insulin resistant, but it's scary finding out I'm a beginning type-2 diabetic. I've tried "keto" before and it didn't stick. Turns out I didn't know as much about keto as I thought I did, so now I'm in research mode (I've already filled in many gaps from these vids)...I plan to learn from Dr. Boz how to get started the right way and get my body adapted to burning ketones. I bought her books along with some pee sticks, I ordered an a1c test, and I'll probably enroll in the Consistently Keto course. I'm already planning on getting my potential "tribe" copies of Anyway You Can. What an eye-opener.

Love this video. Now I know why I am taking my reading in the AM. I would guess I am now prediabetic because my reading is between 101 and 105 most mornings consistently. I have just started the ketogenic way of eating yesterday so hope my liver has not grown so much that I can’t shrink it back down to normal if that can even happen. I sure hope it can “shrink” back to it’s normal size. Thanks again for a wonderful explanation.

@Bhseeker01 look into water fasting. Snake diet specifically. 7 days fasting will prob get u to ur goal weight in just that amount of time...plus it will do some healing.

Yes I lost 50 lbs on it. I was strict low carb/high fat. Under 20 grams of carbs per day. No cheat days. Took me 5 months.

Enjoyed your video. Have read three books of late explaining current research about the fat/lower carb approach to health. I have a healthy BMI, but have seen an increase of three inches in my waste size over the last five years. I am a 67 year old male. Recent blood tests revealed fasting glucose just below 100, but elevated cholesterol. My heart calcium score is 50, thus prompting my physician to consider advising me to begin a statin regimen. Have been on a statin for 6 weeks and do not like the side effects at all. The ketogenic diet makes sense for losing fat, and was wondering if you could explain how such a diet contributes to a healthy heart. Current research seems to suggest that treating cholesterol may not be the best approach to preventing a heart event
    Thanks Tony

This explains so much. as a African woman carb (rice) is our mean dish. I couldn’t understand why I was on keto for 30days and I couldn’t go into ketosis, that plus I substituted sugar for sweeteners. 😱😱😱

Would you please do a video on whatt to do to keep the brain happy and working while trying to become keto adapted?? I have been trying to get into astray ketosis for about 6 months now but brain fog and fatigue would send me reaching for a sweet potato to keep my brain going. I never understood why it wasn't working. Until this video. I know that I have an enlarged liver and now I know what to do! Please tell people like me how to keep their brain going while they clean out their liver!!!

I have been on Keto for 8 days and couldn't figure out why my morning blood sugars were still thru the roof. I have been diabetic since 2008 but have never taken Insulin. I am showing morning ketones as small but sugar is still high. I am so thankful I found this video. I am subscribed and will be buying your book. I like the way you bring things down to a laypersons level. Can you take ketone supplements while you sugar is high. Mine started at 220 and is down to 175 in the AM. I didn't know if it was safe to take it with high sugar. I fasted for 24 hours yesterday and it helped my numbers. I too have had some diet pop and you have answered my questions. Thank You so much!!!!

I use Allulose as a sweetener. According to my research it doesn’t effect glucose or insulin levels. Maybe I’ll come across a Dr, Boz video where she addresses this.

We use a sweetener created by a husband for his diabetic wife, which he named, “Whey Low.” It has 75% fewer calories than sugar. Have you heard of this sweetener before? My Sister is diabetic and he said he’d rather she not use Stevia as a sweetener because of the way it’s processed? Stevia comes from a plant, so how could it be bad for you? My husband and I began by completely cutting out bread and bread products. I’m a new subscriber trying to determine some other foods we can eat. I think we’ve exhausted the 3-5 “go to” meals I’ve thought of. Thank you for the information you shared in the Beginners Keto Diet. Blessings!

"Stevia comes from a plant, so how could it be bad for you." Do you realize just how dumb that statement is? Cobra venom is natural, so how could it be bad for you?
