The peppy, reggae music really adds to the tragic nature of Best's alcohol addiction.

What a sad, sad story. And what a humble, nice and honest man. Both he and his mother (I've read; correct me if I'm wrong) died as alcoholics. Neither of them managed to tackle the fame.
May both their souls rest in peace.

When your in mental and physical pain its only natural to choose a pain killer of your choice that will make you feel better. In georges case it was alcohol. If some one has got the flu then they will choose medicine to make them feel better! I cant see how this is any different, no one knows the pain he felt when he started drincking again! Plus with all that publicity alot great and alot bad.

I was once a contestant on Family Fortunes and was asked to name an alcoholic spirit. You should have seen the look I got when I said George Best.

Tavy@ george best was the greatest player in the world from 1966 to 1972. But it shouldv been from 1966 to 1982. And at age 36 he couldve played in midfield or defence becouse he could tackle, head, and his passing long and short with both feet was sublime. He could read the game, he was the complete player!!! But addiction is a diffrent thing altogether. Its staying of drinck thats the hard bit not getting of it. R.i.p george !!!!!!!!!!!

While this documentary maybe 20 years old, I enjoyed the insight into Best's personal life near the end of his life, none of that sensationalist stuff that reality TV today likes to dramatize.

A great footballer when he showed up sober! Wasted talent. Sadly, just another selfish drunk. Treated his Women badly too. He was demonised

Have a functioning transplant for nearly 10 years now (which has changed by my own nd my families life) I have been blessed to have been so lucky to get a second chance at life.

@@richardmcgrath9729 Really - a transplant carried out by a surgeon. Gosh you are medically trained aren't you ? FYI you don't even know me - just so you know - I have an auto immune disease which caused my organ failure leading to me requiring a transplant - so has absolutely nothing to do with alcohol abuse. So go & 12 step yourself !

@@markd4462 so with your new liver your one contribution to life is smugly condemning George Best who entertained millions (both on the field and off) and was loved by both sides of his sectarianly divided homeland and even by Liverpool fans (like myself)...c'mon Mark D??!! (Is yr 'rap name)
