Lionel Messi himself isn't exactly a great international footballer himself.Lionel Messi does hold up well in comparison to any footballer at club level. But is at best a good world class international footballer at the very best.In 5 international major tournament finals Lionel Messi has scored 0 goals, has no goal assist. And has a very poor 20% win rate against an 80% loss rate in those same finals matches. As an individual player who many claim is not just the best current era footballer. But who some claim is the greatest footballer who has ever played, that is a very poor showing indeed. And clearly shows Lionel Messi is not nearly as effective as an international player as he is a club player. Not even as if Lionel Messi plays for one of the worse national football team in South America, like Venezuela. No he actually plays national team football for Argentina who are one of the top three traditional powerhouse, national football team in South America. And in the list of international footballers who have scored 50 goals or more, Lionel Messi has the worse goals to match ratio at 0.5 of anyone in the top 20 on the list. And overall his competitive record at international level is nothing special at all either, he even went to 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals tournament and did not score any goals at all.Lionel Messi is perhaps the best ever player at club level, he certainly has the numbers and trophy haul to back that claim up against any other footballer in history at club level. But as an international footballer Lionel Messi is nowhere near as good as many other great players have been and his international level football numbers and trophy haul just doesn't compare with many great international level footballers. And Lionel Messi definitely has no claim at all to be the greatest ever international level player in history. And football is played at both club level and international level. So shouldn't the greatest ever footballer be a player who is actually great not just at club level but also must be a great player also at international level. And Lionel Messi isn't a great international player never has been and probably never will be.He has a good international record, even a world class record, but it's certainly nothing special either, definitely not a great international record.
George Best was dominating the opposition, the rest of that Northern Ireland team aside from Jennings was horrendous. Or do you not think that a player can perform admirably in a game that his team had lost?
He was far from the best. He only scored nine international goals from 37 appearances. Of those four were scored against Cyprus. Pele scored 77 goals from 92 appearances at a rate of 0.84. When he wasnt in a strong team he wasnt the best.
If you have seen that Northern Irish team, I'm not even sure how you can compare him to Pelé and his Brazil. Aside from Jennings & Blanchflower they were horrendous. His individual performances against England & Spain are pretty much as good as it can gets when you're playing basically on your own.

How was he dominating the world champions? England won this game 3-1...
George Best was dominating the opposition, the rest of that Northern Ireland team aside from Jennings was horrendous. Or do you not think that a player can perform admirably in a game that his team had lost?
@@HarmsFootball yes he performed admirably but he didn't dominate anybody
*He was so over rated, as evidenced here.*
If you think he was overrated you don’t understand football
you know nothing
He was far from the best. He only scored nine international goals from 37 appearances. Of those four were scored against Cyprus. Pele scored 77 goals from 92 appearances at a rate of 0.84. When he wasnt in a strong team he wasnt the best.
If you have seen that Northern Irish team, I'm not even sure how you can compare him to Pelé and his Brazil. Aside from Jennings & Blanchflower they were horrendous. His individual performances against England & Spain are pretty much as good as it can gets when you're playing basically on your own.
