- Truus Van Het Houkumhuis is a 2006 Model mare at Little River Friesians in Havana Florida. Tsjalke 397 x Olof 315. She is nearly 17 hands tall and exudes more presence than any mare we have laid our eyes upon. With a mane to her knees, bold powerful movement, incredible type and on top of all this her sweet temperament, she will win your heart quickly. This is absolutely the most beautiful mare I believe I have ever seen from her flowing mane and tail to her flawless musculature and the effortless power she generates as she brings her rear legs up under her and digs in foe maximum effect on minimum effort. Add to that her beautiful neck and stunning face and head carriage. I am in love!

My style of mare for sure…The big problem is Holland now produces the sport skinny and not to appalling look(at list to me)The baroque line is long gone…I have a mare and a stallion on the baroque style and I will produce baroque lines as much as possible,the other 2 mares could classify as Royal….You won’t see another mare like this one for sure,I would like to see if her off spring’s are at list half as beautiful and with this kind of confirmation like her.

Why does this mare carry her tail like an Arabian would?
Possibly Arabian blood deep in her pedigree. Neck carriage and tail carriage are very Arabian. I bred Arabians for over 15 years and until I saw my first Friesian in Ladyhawke thought they were the most beautiful horses.

'Van het Houkumhuis' . Much more Friesian you can't get...in name that is. Truus isn't really a Friesian name.
If she's 17 hh she's not true to the original type. Frieslans are not meant to be tall horses.
Nowadays Friesians are bigger than they used to be. They're still real Friesians though.
They breed other types than the classic, indeed real Friesians, but talller/ slimmer ect.
