Very nice video. I have been living in Vietnam for 15 years (not as teacher though...). One thing that is not mentionned in this interview is the fact that learning vietnamese language is extremely difficult. I actually can speak vietnamese quite well, but in 15 years, the number of foreigners I met who are actually able to have a good conversation in the local language were less than 10 people, in other words, nearly NOBODY !!!
Great point! I am a huge advocate for learning the language when teaching or living abroad so thanks for bringing this up. The most difficult language I have studied is Arabic 🙂
I plan on learning vietnamese in vietnam next year. Im planning on taking classes and meeting with ppl to practice. Can you recommend any classes or schools? How long did it take you to understanding what you were hearing? How did you learn? Are you a westerner? My goal is to know household items and subjects. Pretty much, I want to be able to talk like a vietnamese toddler within a 1 or 2 years.

Can non-natives english speakers teach in Vietnam?
Yes, non-natives can teach in Vietnam with a proficient level of English, degree and TEFL.
Can I apply teacher in Vietnam? Even I'm here my country?
I’m guessing you would go through the process to become a teacher as normal and not through a TEFL course.
