Fun how some of the best Buhurters are multi decade foam fighters too. Didn't realize how much over lap till I met some of the high level fighters here in the US.
It's all fun as fuck to me lol. Me and my buddy used to do some casual hema with blunted weapons back before this was even a big thing(I know it originally kicked off in the 90s, but you never heard about it back then). That's where I learned that gloves are mandatory lol. Made sure that rule was followed in our larp group a few years later lol. Yet still ended up nearly breaking my thumb.
@@nirujirian By the ACS rules, technically yes. The risk far out weighs the reward imo… I would rather put $200 down for a helmet that’ll keep me alive than trust my own skills. But I don’t know your experience with it so if you can, go for it if you want. But maybe also clear it with your group/event beforehand. If it’s just with friends that’s y’all’s decision to make :/ Finally, I could be wrong about this! I am going off of ACS’s rule set! Different organizations have different “preferences” on the matter I’m sure! I am personally not super knowledgeable on the matter because I buy my armour, and I am pretty new to the sport. BUHURT is just the LARPers that got fed up of people not calling their hits hahaha Would love to get into armoured fighting, just stating off in HEMA but gods that is spenny enough as is haha
As someone who's done LARP i'd like to express to points here. 1. I don't like the "well what we're doing is ACTUAL sport and LARP is cringe" mentality since both hobbies are kinda cringe and yet fun and amzing. 2. I still think LARP should go for more direct combat. Seeing people just tap each other like they're kids playing tag, is actually pretty embarrassing. Getting some bruises, really feeling the impact of a blow makes a fight way more interesting and you'll take the situation more seriously and thus the immersion is better. I mean we're talking about foam against actual plates of steel...
you're missing the point bro i meant no disrespect... I never said LARP is cringe.... if you read the video description... I clearly stated both are awesome but there is a significant difference between them. the reason I made this video is for normal people who don't know the difference. i made this video because I was sick of people calling Buhurt "LARP". Its easier to show people this video than trying to explain the difference lol
@@TonyTheTemplar I actually didn't read the description to be honest. It was one of your comments that comes off wrong if you ask me. But I can see people mistaking one hobby for the other. And of course there's a significant difference in those two. It's just tiring to see people bash one thing like sheeps just because its popular lol
@@chadsavan fair enough. However what comment of mine did sit right with you? I looked at all my replies and I never once said any of that. Are you sure you are not mistaken someone else's comment? skinny guys and women have place in armoured combat, they have place in duels, you can be good at duels while being small skinny guy or average woman, of course being big and strong is helpfull but not as crucial as in buhurts.
@@thundergoat421_6 I just watched a 5'7" guy drop a 7'4 guy this weekend. Strike and run and wear the big guy out, then in a moment of weakness gain leverage and down he goes. Just don't go out there and be a PRETTY, skinny guy. You will get crushed like that. Put in the work, and good things will come.
Small and skinny guys have made it work. And women have their own competitions, they don't have to compete against the men if don't want to. I fyou want to fight armoured combat, fight armoured combat.
I'm only 5'6 and 150 lbs. if you look on my channel you will see me fighting a GIANT well over 6 feet. Video is called "Medieval Fight Club (David vs Goliath)". The armor is a great equalizer. I do melees too. All you need is proper training and you can do anything 💪

Both are fun. One is more accessible because its cheaper and has more people and hurts less.
this is true
I can’t afford Buhart gear, nor do I want to tear a muscle and break an arm. Then again, if I could afford it, I would love to do armored combat.
Yea I have had more injuries in my first year in Buhurt than my entire MMA career lol

Armored combat is just LaRP gone wild 🥰
Fair point lol
unrealistic portrayal of larp!
Not one of those players complained that someone went for their head and stopped the combat, sheesh.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Im sure you can still try to cast spells in buhurt, see what happens.
seriously underrated
Just gotta remind me that im at a shortage of sparring partners huh?
larp is yea cool i grew out of it and then into armor combat witch im in love
I have a question can you make your own medieval armor?
Like your very own medieval one

Yeah I mean it’s in the name, buHURT
facts lol
Midevil mma is insane

that's a good way of looking at it lol and HEMA is a great place to start! :)
buhurt is essentially larp with more metal. now, harness fencing is where it's at
more steel, more force, different rules. most of the things we do in Buhurt is very illegal to do in LARP lol
I dont see mutch diference... buhurth has less orks?
One is with foam weapons... The other is an actual sport dating back to the middle ages using real armor and weapons.
