This is very good for a free synth. However I do suggest trying out the opx pro ii. It's a paid version of this synth and it sounds incredibly identical to the original. The biggest difference i noticed between opx and obxd is the filter on the opx seems to have much more character. It is a little expensive. Around 150 usd i believe. They have sales from time to time and the day I learned about it they had it on sale for 75. It is my most used synth now. Plus the preset bank that it comes with is phenomenal. Unlike most preset banks, almost every sound is something I would use. Makes tweaking to your liking very easy.
i think this is a great tutorial. except for no tutorial ive found yet tells me how to actually make the sound. is there a key i press or a button somewhere or is it in the plugin in the daw??? I DONT KNOW NOBODY WILL TELL ME WTF edit: IS IT AN ELECTRIC KEYBOARD OR SOMTHN LIKE A MIDI INSTRUMENT SOME ONE PLEASE EXPLAIN
Great demonstration with great insight into what makes one product or another - what it is. Also makes me wish I did more with Soft-Synths (I prefer using hardware over software 95% of the time).
As someone who works with soft synths all the time, I recommend you check out some. OB-Xd was one of those synths that, just upon loading the synth and trying out the default patch, I was blown away by it's sound.
i miss my MICRON,,, best virtual analog synnth,,, gonna give this a try def,, what is the difference? why arent VSTs taking full capability for the DSP power my computer is capable of? teh answer? Industry Standards,,, the modulation/control matrix of the micron was inceridble,,,, im kind of wantnig to buy a NordLEad or something similar or maybe just play vsts,,, however i think i need a better midi controller, as its midi over usb , or that does not make a difference? cheeers, great video, great v synth
This thing really is beautiful, its perfect. except, no one told me how to really dig through its really great set of presets. On the latest version, if you left click anywhere, you can switch through them, but its a bit annoying, you have to do this every single time you want a new sound AND THERE ARE ALOT OF THEM
Very organic analog sound but it has a big lack: It can't play chords when you start unison. What a pitty.I never seen yet a hardware or vst synth that can't play chords in unison mode.:(
Make your own man ,it's a simple synth, but when you installed the synth you should have had a folder with all banks and skins too. If not I think you probably just copied a .dll? Look for a folder called disco dsp, that s where your banks etc are 👍🏻
computer synths need to become modular,,, like you can acces a filter and then route that back again to a virtual module etc, so you can mix digital and analog,,, i have some moogerfoogers that would be great if the virtual synths sent virtual CV or something,,, i dont know,,,, maybe later
Best free virtual-analog soft synth ever. Makes me smile every time I here it sound. Uber-Fat!

It really is one of the best out there. PG-8X, Repro, Legend, and OPX-Pro II are all pretty much spot on.
Yeah I’ve been using the OPx for years on windows but it causes crashes pretty often for me for some reason.

Check my recreation of Van Halen's 1984 intro sound using the OBX-d ruclips.net/video/rtrVBSPscXs/видео.html + patch for download.

When it comes to softsynth emulation of the vintage Oberheims, OP-X Pro II does a much better job in my ears. This sounds flat.
As something that comes for free, this one's *decent*. But yeah I'm a big fan of the OP-X Pro as well
Where can i get presets for this bad boy? I downloaded it but the banks are empty.

OGASI thanks. I ended up downloading a shiteload of presets. Not all great, but it’s a start
