Scott May, Product Specialist at Hammond, gives an overview of the Hammond Digital Leslie Pedal for keyboard at Full Compass Systems.
Derived from the state-of-the art Digital Leslie onboard the new Hammond Sk series stage keyboards and the flagship B-3mkII Organ, the Leslie Pedal evokes vintage 122 and 147 Leslies, and the Model 18, basis of the classic Vibratone Guitar cabinet made famous by Stevie Ray Vaughn and others. The fourth model replicates the distinctive PR-40 stationary speaker cabinet, which was standard issue with Hammond Organs in the 50's and 60's, and a "secret weapon" for many vintage studio guitar recordings.
Rotary controls allow adjustment of virtual mic placement, ramp up and down speeds, overdrive, horn and bass balance, EQ and overall volume. Three footswitches provide true bypass, speed and brake control, stereo in/out. A gain switch allows the Leslie Pedal to be used in a guitar effects chain, or direct inject into a sound reinforcement system/keyboard amp.

This simulator is essentially the internal SK1 (and now the XK1-C)'s simulation, with a couple of additional parameter adjustments (ramp up, distortion, etc). So if you have either of these boards already, don't waste your money. IF however you have an older XK Hammond or another brand's organ whose Leslie effect is short of ridiculous, the $300 price tag for this might be something consider, especially since that's $200 cheaper than the Neo Ventilator II.

Two thoughts: One, I wish you had compared the sound of the pedal to the internal effect in your SK keyboard. And two, though the most practical place for the pedal is on the keyboard, as you have it, rather than on the floor (for access to all knobs), it looks like the switches are rather stiff and better suited for stomping than for pushing with your fingers.

Steven Zak I agree with you Steven, which is why I use a half moon switch when I use it with my organ and just use it as a foot pedal when I'm using a keyboard with an awesome sample.

I wish once and for all these pedals like the new Hammond Leslie Digital Pedal and the new Neo Ventilator Mini Vent could actually be compared to the internal leslie simulation in a keyboard like the SK1 and maybe a Nord 4D. I love the internal sound of the Sk1, so I would like to know how I might bet an improved sound. I also want to hear a showdown between the Leslie Pedal and the Neo Ventilator (either the classic or the upcoming Neo Ventilator II).

What happened to the Digitech Rack unit RMS-1 Tube rotary speaker simulator. It had a Left and Right out for the Horns and a center out for the Rotor just like a Leslie.

Those who say the Neo is better, I trust that first of all you are an organist. Second, I trust that you own both the Neo and the Hammond Leslie box before saying that one is better than the other. I have both and guess what... neither sounds 'better' because they are two different animals trying to do the same thing. It comes down to your preference and opinion. If you have a sucky emulation in your keyboard or Hammond clone, buy them both, don't scar them up, try them and send the one back you don't want. I don't know about Full Compass' return policy, but I know you can do that with the two companies I deal with. Again I say, Neither Is Better Than The Other, they are just different. I just figured (and in my opinion I was right. Of course I would say that though) that for my Hammond organ, it makes more sense that Hammond SHOULD have a more acceptable product for me. It doesn't always work out that way, but in this case it did.

EHX is really reputable, don't own any of their gear personally, but I can attest to others liking the things they produce.

doitee52 Hopefully you got an answer and are satisfied. The short answer is yes. That's how I have mine geeked up. Ok, hooked up. You would need an additional half moon switch that is MAIN and CHORUS. I'm typing from a hospital bed now and don't remember the name of the third position. Then you just use one Leslie speaker and when you throw the switch you will either be closing the connection to the Hammond Leslie box if you have geeked it up that way, or there will be nothing until you hit the bypass switch again (because you of course turned it off when you wanted just the Leslie of course) which will allow you to play through the Leslie Box. The third option is just hook the Hammond Leslie box to a geek quarter inch connection. I understand how to make the box but it was easier to have one of my 'Geekier' friends to do it for me.

Thank you so much and I hope you are o.k.!
We only have a big old Hammond cabinet now, but since I play the bass pedals I need to use a hand switch like the half moon type so throw it on and off. I don't know if this could be geeked up like this or best to try and score a good used 122. Appreciate it so much for your comments.

I think I like the Neo Ventilator better, the Neo has more of a tube like warmth to it IMO. But then, this wasn't the best demo I've heard audio-wise...

Those who say this box doesn't sound good with a real Hammond must not be hooking it up correctly. I have my B3 hooked to it with two powered speakers and it sounds better than great. A leslie is a leslie, and though I have two leslies I run my organ through this box because I got tired of not being able to hear the organ when I have jam sessions at my house and have three guitars, drums, sax vocals and bass.
Does it sound better than a Leslie? Not better, more convenient and sounds as good. Let's face it. The real Leslie has an effect on the audience just seeing it. A friend of mine uses an empty leslie housing on stage so people see the beast, but he uses this pedal!
