Today I thought that we would take a quick look at the marvellous NEO instruments ventilator effects pedal. But this time with a difference. Using my custom line out connection, we are able to hear this mighty pedal in use with my Hammond C3 for the first time.
I’ll take you through the controls and demo the effect. Can it replace a real Leslie?

Thanks for taking the time to go this in-depth. I know I'm an outlier, but every time I hear the Ventilator pulsing away my brain says "that's not right". The slow/fast transitions sound nice, but as soon as it settles in the envelope is wrong, and the tone is flat, plastic. That C3 sounds lovely, but... we knew that :-)
Nick, Miles Davis once said that "If you play a wrong note, play it again".
Very helpful and I have a much better understanding of this effect now. I don’t have this yet but I have a better understanding of my H&K2, RotoChior..When I played the version 2 this was great help.

I used to have a two channel Leslie 720 with a static Speaker in it. I run a Ventilator (with some soldering, I could couple the trem/chor switches) over the static speaker to simulate the sound of two leslies. Wasn't worth it. Now I have two Leslie 760's next to my Hammond. I still have the Vent to play with Headphones via a small mixer.
Vent 1 sure isn't going for $180 in the US. I see one at $300 and the rest at $400 to over $500. I got a v 1 and a v 2 and 2 more v1's locked up in storage in another state. You should try it on your Roland DS.
I don't use the vents alot recently because I've been using VB3m and B3X ipad apps that both have good leslies. Their leslies don't sound as good as the NEO but for most hurry up and go gigs it hasn't been worth the extra set up time. I still keep them because the revive any old clonewheel and makes them from bad to good and from better to best.
Hello Nick, thank you for this vid. I had the MII Vent for my XK3c and was not impressed. I now use a Strymon LEX with more success.
I'm not a Vent fan, but, if I may make an unsolicited observation, I speculate you've not played a ream Leslie & chose purely based on taste...?
I would love it if a new company would make a pedal that surpasses the Ventilator II. Like put the T-Racks Leslie inside a pedal basically. It’s time for a refresh.

unfortunately the video is in mono, so we lose a part of the Ventilator quality 🙂
