"A duck in a graveyard? What's this about a death star? No sir, I don't want your daughter!... Is there anybody here with anything useful?" - Simon, in Frobman's Castlevania 1 & 2 in brief
The first 7 seconds feel like you’re in a safe place but then, after that, the song makes you feel like your in a place full of unknown, suspicious people.
It truly conveys the feel of a great hero who's now sick from a curse; but also the theme carries just enough glimpses of hope that'll ultimately result in Simon's eventual salvation.
Do not look into the Death Star, or you will die. Laurels in your soup enhances it's aroma. A magic potion will destroy the wall of evil. Clues to Dracula's riddle can be found in the town of Alba.
It is really a shame that this song didn't get a remix later on. Judging from the game it comes, I think it could've made an excellent song for the latter, more rpg-metroidvania games. I find it even more interesting that it was that forgotten considering it comes from the same game that had Bloody Tears...
YES! Aethon, I agree with every part of your comment.💙 Its a shame. The beats and the rythym, wow. This track, I believe, could have been redone beautifully today.
Castlevania 2 is one of the earliest games I remember playing in the early 90s on NES. I thought maybe I didn't have strong reading comprehension, then I learned years later that it's riddle with terrible translations... This song plays on loop in my head 30 years later.
Now this Theme is my favorite jam right here, so silent and chilled as in lay'd back and very calming. i can definitely listening to this theme while journeying to the mall or stores and window shopping.
Best songs from the era: this one, Vampire Killer from the first game, Zelda’s dungeon theme, Kraid’s Lair from Metroid, and the dungeon theme from Phantasy Star 3
I thought Ramsey Lewis - Lullabye was the inspiration for this song the first time I heard it, only to later realize it was released in 1998, well after Castlevania 2. Are they both inspired by the same song? "Lullabye" is very similar to "Silence of the Daylight"....
This was actually the theme I’ve always associated Castlevania with as a kid. I remember renting this and never knowing about part 1 until some years later 😂

The Japanese clearly have something wrong with the prioritization. This tune just plays in the cities when we just roam. But it should be a disturbing and solemn melody for some epic battle or its opening. Or an example - a melody from Ninja Gaiden, level 4-2. This is just a single level tune, although it should be the theme song of the entire game and should be played in the start menu. And there are many such examples.
It is just an accident that those pieces become more popular. They were not intended to be better or more popular among fans, it just happened that way.
The theme of Simon getting misleading info from the townspeople... XD

Agreed. I feel like Bloody Tears is the big brother that got all of the girls persay lol
Remixes are never as good but better than nothing i guess…
My favorite CV game. Grew up on it in the 1980s, and I love it.

What a horrible night to have a curse!
Always loved the drums in this song
Listening to this while walking makes me think I look so cool lol
The theme of walking to the store for a single onion.
Destroy the curse, and you'll rule Brahm's mansion.
And be sure when reading, to make the tone that accompanies each letter in the sentence.
The most underrated Castlevania track ever!
"Do not look into the Deathstar or you will die."
Does this song return in other castlevania games if not it’s a damn shame
Bro, this song is the tits
I totally agree with you on this one; definitely!
Jogging music
Konami did such masterpieces during the 80s

just this music has a feeling of worry and bad day
I listen to this when I'm playing certain DOS style games.
(Not Doom, mostly Rise of the Triad, OG Wolf3D and DaggerFall)

Thanks for this
I love this game. With a couple of QoL mods from romhacking installed, it's easily one of the best in the series.
