SPOILERS: I actually kinda loved the meta narrative of giving proper endings to characters like Blade and Elektra, whose franchises kinda just fizzled out, as well as giving a chance to shine to Channing Tatum’s Gambit, whose movie never saw the light of day. Honestly the whole movie felt like a big love letter to the superhero movies made by Fox with the plot literally revolving around saving the X-Men universe from being destroyed, plus that lovely retrospective during the credits.
Yeah that's one of my favorite parts of the movie. For all the faults that the fox movies had it isn't right to completely ignore them as even now some of the movies are still pretty good. And this movie isn't afraid to make fun of those movies as well like that scene with saber tooth was genuinely one of the funniest jabs I've ever seen.
I'm genuinely shocked they let gambit be cool. Given how he was treated during the conversation scene, I expected him to be killed instantly in any fight, but they let him be badass
Once the old fox heros started showings up...i really hoped nic cage would just roll up as ghost rider but I realize such op character would slightly ruin any suspense Or get sent to the void in the first place

My dad saw the movie a week before me and told me he didn’t laugh once and fell asleep. I had to physically restrain myself from texting him two minutes in because I was laughing so hard at that opening sequence I had tears in my eyes
I'd argue the scene in the Honda Odyssey *is* their becoming buddies moment. Like a subversion of it on purpose. Where Logan lets out all his frustration with Wade, Because all he can do with talking is be snarky rather than express himself honestly, DP declares he's going to fight Wolvy instead. Toward the end of the fight, Deadpool admits that the Honda Odyssey (an old car that's for families, kinda like Logan being a grumpy old guy with a big family himself) slaps. Something about that, plus Wolverine later repeating his line about an "educated wish," feels like the beginning of their real friendship.
That's honestly how I see it too. Like because they didn't have to hold back anything with fighting so they could let it all out. It's not in a healthy way at all but I'm not gonna bicker about it 💀

I saw this film with a friend who just couldn’t stop nitpicking the flaws (which there are) but just couldn’t grasp the concept that I rlly couldn’t care less about the flaws cuz I had so much fun with it
That kind of experience is why I stopped watching CinemaSins…there’s nothing wrong with enjoying something that’s flawed (real or poorly made up for a joke that isn’t funny). I’d rather be an open minded optimist finding the good, than a depressed cynic who can’t see anything but the bad in something.
There's definitely a disdain for "Roller Coaster Movies" in the general Cinema circlejerk, but they exist for a reason. Deadpool and Wolverine didn't alter my perspective on life or teach me any valuable lessons, but it gave me a fun day out with my family where we laighed and cheered. That, to me, was more than worth the price of admission.
This is why I have a personal rule to try avoiding any and all promotional material for a movie, ESPECIALLY Superhero movies, once I've decided I'll see it in theaters.
One thing I like about the movie is that Ryan Reynolds went on Turner Classic Movies and said he puts a reference to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in every movie he does. I went into the theater ready to scour the scenes for a reference, and I only had to wait until the opening scene to see the mug.
For me, that was that argument in the car. I saw his hosting of that too, and knowing that, that scene was hitting right like the blowup at Neil to Dale, except he fights it out instead of talks it out, which was so on point. And a little bit of Grosse Point Blank there too.
The green car that gets set on fire in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles appears in the Void when Deadpool and Wolverine are walking through a field before Dogpool shows up.
The funny thing about movies in theaters. Is that studios aren’t even thunking of maybe re-releasing classic films in Theaters. Studio Ghibli does a festival nearly every year where they show off their classic films in theaters. Could you imagine if Disney re-released their classic animated films in theaters for a limited time every year or two. The possibilities for that are endless. The only other problem with theaters is how expensive they are.
I don't know if it was just a local thing, but in the 1970s in Queens, NY a local theater would show a ton of Disney movies during the summer, so as a kid I got to see the classics as they were designed to be seen.
Regal Cinema occasionally does special single-day showings of certain movies like classic Disney. I got to see the original animated The Lion King in a full, glorious, hi-def theater experience and it is just as fan-fking-tastic as it was back then.
3:26 This is how I felt with Deadpool 2 joke of killing off all of X-Force. We spend a good chunk of time setting them up, and in the future I don't know how well it would work for people who just watch the movie at home, years later. It works because it pulls the rug out from under a deceptive ad campaign that featured them.
It still kinda works anyway, especially with the post-credits scene where Deadpool saves Peter from his fate; he directly calls out X-Force as a marketing ploy by Fox.

I hadn't actually seen Deadpool on the big screen til I saw this one. So it was surreal to experience his 4th wall breaks with a huge audience instead of just by myself on my phone or something
In a weird way this movie reminded me of the Mario movie. Its for a specific demographic of people, it for people who wanted to see this on a big screen for so long and thats the main goal, to give you everything you ever wanted to see in a Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Its here to give audiences a fun time, not to win some prestigious award for a masterful movie. Its so refreshing to see a movie like this. No more babied, safe moneymakers, it gives us all the vulgar, funny, bloody violence we wanted for so long.
I get where you're coming from with the comparison but the mario movie definitely was a babied and safe moneymaker. I'd argue even this deadpool movie is a safe moneymaker, maybe not babied in the objective definition but similar.
It was honestly heartwarming seeing all the behind-the-scenes and such of all the old 20th Century Fox Marvel movies during the credits. It actually feels like a proper send off to the Fox movies, and treating them with respect and reverence.

I’m honestly glad he’s not there. Most of the bad superhero movies/franchises had some redeemable quality, but the only good thing you can say about the Ghost Rider movies is that the first isn’t as bad as the second. Let that one stay dead.
I mean, unlike the others, it ended on a pretty decent note with the Rider banishing Mephisto to hell and becoming an Angel once more, so he doesn't really fit the meta narrative of never having a proper ending. Although it would be nice to see Angel Ghost Rider in action.
Wasn’t expecting to see this video but nice to see. You also make a good point about not just the teasers but also the commute to the theater. However, there’s a special feeling about seeing a movie in the theater because it’s a shared experience with a lot of people.
Ngl during the whole “Honda odyssey” monologue I literally laughed too hard to be able to keep paying attention, like I literally had to intentionally try and stop myself, like it was one of THOSE. Ironically the best types of laughs are the ones that are forbidden so to speak.
As someone who loves xmen and grew up with the movies. I understand the movies were very very flawed but i remember loving them and watching them with my dad and brothers. I saw this movie in theaters with my dad and we had a blast. I laughed so hard at every cameo and caught on quick for them. This is my love letter to xmen. Deadpool & Wolverine have honestly sparked something in me with the MCU, I think I'm ready to let the Avengers era rest and move on to the MCU being heralded by the faces of Marvel from the 2000's, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. I'm more charitable with post Endgame material (Still LOVE No Way Home and really like Wakanda Forever) but I can admit that not a lot of it did anything for me, and I can't say it's superhero fatigue (bleh, that phrase) because I am currently hyper fixated on the superheroes of Japan right now. I'm still gonna follow the MCU for the Mutants, Spidey and FF. But everyone else, I'm either "I don't need anymore" (Ant-Man, Thor) or "I need more time with this"

As a filmmaker I gotta say the whole thing about seeing a movie in a theater is kinda every filmmakers goal. If your film makes it on the big screen its a huge accomplishment. So yeah of course having that dream all your life of seeing a movie you made on the same big screen you grew up looking at that contributed to making you the person you are only to have your film get shot into a streaming service is gonna be upsetting.
I Think she’s talking to the uptops and directors that complain about theaters not accommodating for their movie specs rather than the other way around. And the hype is pushed by producers who want more money. I think we should still watch in theaters, but there’s a little bit of “let them eat cake” mentality when the billionaire producer is complaining that the mother of 5 can’t go to the theaters to watch Minions 12, and just waits til it’s on streaming.

I can just tell that in many decades this period of cinema will be known for franchise sequels and reboots, and bringing back well-liked characters and IPs from before. It'll be really interesting to see how people in the future who weren't around will view it once it becomes old-fashioned, in the same way we discuss movies from the 60s today
I think a lot of the worries about how this movie may not hold up in the future is just kinda light doomerism to be honest. The only Fox era Marvel film I've seen was First Class, and even then I've only seen it once in theaters and barely remember anything from it. Despite that, a lot of the core conflict still struck a chord with me, I still knew of all these characters and movies and that was enough even if I have no actual emotional attachment to them. It helps too that the end credits contextualize what it all means. Even aside from that, I still think this movie will hold up, much like NWH does for me, cause Wade and Logan's character arcs and dynamic are great, the script is genuinely hilarious, and the action scenes are largely fantastic. This movie has a lot of merit outside of being a celebration/sendoff for the Fox era Marvel films
I agree, I've watched Logan and the X-Men movies, but I didn't know Blade or Electra or Gambit yet I still knew these characters were dropped somehow. I think anyone who engages with general movie culture can understand it sucks when characters or movies are dropped or left out so the conflict should still work without knowing the specifics of certain characters. If anything I just wanted to know what happened with these characters I didn't know. The writing just felt so genuine I didn't care that I didn't really know some of this stuff since the movie isn't about lore, it's about vibes.
Talking so much about cameos I can’t stop thinking about how many cameos they cut(being actors that had failing marvel products) and I find it hilarious

I think the fact that this movie wont age the best over time with people forgetting about fox and all makes the cameos so ironic. Like people are going to forget about them again. I really enjoyed this movie, i do prefer the first 2 but that doesnt mean this movie is bad

I'm almost always so critical of nearly every MCU TV show and movie. And not that the Deadpool movies don't have their flaws, But every time a new one comes out, I always have the best time. And I still enjoy them even at home. Deadpool and wolverine is a movie I've already seen twice and I plan to see it a third time. It's just the kind of delightful, fun buddy action comedy that I didn't know I needed from the superhero movie genre
After watching the Super Duper Cut of Deadpool 2 where you can clearly hear when they added new lines in in a recording booth, I think it's easier to hear if Reynolds is in the suit or not in certain scenes Unless they actually record him in the booth with the mask on now...
I’ve seen so much pushback towards this film on Film Twitter. Some of the tweets that are legitimately criticizing this film are valid and fair, as I honestly agree with many of the complaints. But you also have those hyperbolic condescending a-holes that despise this movie and are desperately convincing the fans of this movie that “cinema is dead” because of this film and other bs comments. Like wtf.
Deadpool thrives when his parent company is doing poorly- It's a bit of a catch 22. This movie is only so fun because of all the terrible decisions Fox had made in the past. The appearance of Deadpool is kind of a harbinger for the genre
i will say that i've heard a lot of people say their theatres were full of applause during the cameo reveals, and that sure wasn't my experience (at an australian cinema), there was one cameo that everyone loved and then the others were just greeted by silence. I knew who these people were, because I follow marvel youtube channels that have referenced those projects before, but in that quiet cinema i thought "hang on, does anyone besides me even know who these people are?" 😂 it did definitely make the reveal a bit less cool
One thing I noticed you mention is the audience reactions in theature. As someone who lives in Englad (not sure if its the same all across England but still), our theatures are completely silent. Like we never clap or loudly cheer, the loudest it'll ever get is excited whispering and even then its rare because we don’t want to disturb the people around us. Loud theatures are such a strange concept to me
Realized as I was sitting in the theatre that this was the first movie I’ve been to in a theatre since lockdown. And honestly, it was a good one to go back to. I wanted something fun, something that I didn’t have to think too much about. Is it the best Deadpool movie? No. The story could be stronger. But it was FUN. And I needed some fun. I don’t even care about doubles, the opener will forever be a favorite sequence. And the credits cutscene didn’t suck, either 😂
I went to go see it opening night it was some of the most fun I have ever had going to see a movie, the theatre was mostly full and EVERYONE was laughing and just having a great time. The energy was just so fun you could tell everyone was also having just as much fun. I don't think I have ever laughed that hard at a movie either, it was incredible.
I honestly didn't care too much about the plot and stakes of this movie (so I didn't dig too deep into possible "plot"-hols or inconsistencies which I'm sure are there) I mostly enjoyed the hijinks and interactions with the two leads. (finally an actually FUN Marvel movie after who knows how long) some of the cameos and easter eggs worked better than others, but there were so many of them and they went by so fast that it didn't matter too much if some of them didn't land for me.
Best and most likely last opportunity to have Hugh Jackman do a musical number in character as Wolverine and they beefed it, 0/10. (No but seriously I loved it.)
I think it’s okay to say you enjoyed the movie at this time. Your opinions are allowed to change in the future after rewatched and when time passes, judging a film is like having an experience, there’s the in the moment experience, the few days after, then a couple years later when you remember it. Some films excel at some of those parts but might not hold up in others, and that’s okay. I personally also enjoyed this movie, but also recognize the flaws it has, and understand I’m still in the early phase where I just experienced the movie so I’m only thinking about the fun parts i enjoyed
The movie was fun plain and simple. Its just something that you either love the style of humour or you hate it. Got to see the midnight screening since i work at an Alamo Drafthouse. Everyone working there showed up, and we all had a blast. One of my coworkers even dressed up as Deadpool and passed us toy knoves to play with. Spoilers But when we saw Blade, Elektra, Gambit and Laura, everybody cheered. The film for me and my coworkers, felt like a love letter to early 2000s marvel movies.

I think that this was a nice break from the current MCU movies it wasn’t lore heavy and it wasn’t setting up anything crazy it was just super fun and I think the movie experience helped with how much fun it was hearing people laugh and gasp when they got the references was just the best. And even though my brother didn’t get the cameos he turned to ask who they were and he actually got interested in watching the older fox movies overall definitely a great time with an even better tribute to those films

She is intimidating, but besides her connection with Charles Xavier as the sort of "opposite twin", Cassandra Nova felt underdeveloped and generic compared to previous Deadpool villains who have a more personal connection and/or depth to their actions. Ajax is the one responsible for Wade's mutation and what kickstarts Deadpool's revenge while Russell became evil as a result of abuse and trauma from the orphanage he was raised and became a future villain towards Cable (who time travels because of that). Cassandra is just "I will destroy the entire multiverse for the lulz" and has zero personal connections to either Deadpool or Wolverine. If anything, Paradox is a better villain since it's him wanting to destroy the X-Men universe that kickstarts the main plot of Deadpool.
You have an interesting perspective on how Deadpool is almost a museum curator for future generations - granting accessibility to how we can remember these shifting zeitgeists
I haven’t been to an actual theater in over a year and despite all these great movies coming out, I haven’t felt inspired to go back. At home, I can pause if I have to go to the bathroom or wanna get a snack. I can rewind a scene when I miss something. I can put on subtitles so I can understand what is being said because modern movie dialogue is either too low or too fast for me to keep up with. The least theaters can do is have subtitles more. Accessibility for all types of movie goers should be considered more in general.
I was thinking the same thing while watching this, I went into the movie knowing it could never be as complex and all out as the second movie with Cable, that movie was just insane. But I also wasn't expecting such a thing. I looked to my sister and said, I could watch Deadpool and Wolverine bickering like this forever, so I didn't even really care much what happened in the movie, I just loved all their interactions so much. It was far from the action packed tension and drama in the second movie, but hey, we can still watch the second movie whenever we want, and I'd also never get tired of this one, so they did a good job in my book. Not all of them can be on the level of part two.
Saw this opening day in Canada with some friends and when wolverine insulted Canada everyone went OOHHHHHHHH And I was the loudest in the theater too don't worry :D
I'm also a kid of the 2000s Fox Marvel movies, mostly growing up with some of the late X-Men movies, both Fantastic 4s (even tho I have more familiarity to the one cameo that made me squee so hard than the 2010s one) and even the start OF what will become the MCU with the early Iron Man, Thor and Cap movies, it hit home to me seeing this cameos again. And seeing the other cameos from movies I've only seen in passing or maybe once or twice like Blade's trilogy or 03 Daredevil made me smile. And the credits definitely made me tear up, seeing every actor again, even in BTS footage and in clips. I can def look away from the flaws and just see it as a funny love letter to that era of Superhero films, and I wished we got more camp like that nowadays. ------------ Also has a fan of the main X-men cameo that wasnt X23, who has witnessed how production hell his movie was and it never got to see the light of day, it was nice to finally have him on screen. He was the character I never thought I would see on the big screen and most especially played by that actor. And that they actually played him not as a joke, like most people who prolly only heard of him before maybe X-men 97 / any of the video games. I literally almost teared up during that whole fight scene, like holy shit thats my boy !!
There was one scene in the movie that I remember at first just kind of scratching my head trying to figure out why Deadpool had so much knowledge and cared so much about the car. They were driving off in. It wasn’t until they finally got back to his own timeline that I realized it’s because he’s a car salesman at the beginning. Also, I don’t think it’s isn’t until the car fight scene, when Deadpool finally gets the staples out of his head. (no joke every time he took his mask off I noticed the staple and I kept wondering when was he going to find an office or desk any pulls that little alligator mouth tool that remove staples and just plucks them out)
Unironically, yes. I didn't care for her in this movie because I had no time to care about her, her powers, her backstory, etc. But she was interesting.

For the past 10 years we have been living in a 80's nostalgia feedback loop. As an older gen Z. I was a kid who has the X-men movies as my first DVD, I saw Fantastic 4 in theaters and I watched Daredevil and Electra an embarrassingly high number of times. I watched the Blade movies as my first movies with vampires. Yes, this has limited appeals. Yes, they were insecure and goofy. But they walked so Iornman could fly. And that makes them important in the superhero genres and film history. And it's nice to see old friends one final time. Bye bye bye~
I enjoyed it more than i thought I would considering I managed to miss most of the previous MCA and XMan movies that I apparently needed to watch first.
In the comics, Deadpool teams up with all sorts of Marvel characters (Thor, Spiderman, Wolverine [with all the bickering] etc) and also teams up with Deadpool Corps and goes universe/dimension hopping etc. So even if you've never watched the early Marvel movies, it was loyal to the comics too. If you're a fan of the comics, the cameos are still very nostalgic and relevant to how the comics play out, it's just a movie version of it. But of course even more meaningful if you're a fan of the early Fox marvel movies. I love Deadpool and Wolverine, so much to the point I hope they don't make any more Deadpool movies cuz nothing can top this. It's truly fantastic
It’s so refreshing to go from Crisis Part 3 wiping out beloved cartoons that have nothing to do with the rest of the trilogy for no reason other than thoughtless fanservice to this film where discarded universes fight for their right to continue existing because they still mattered and don’t deserve to be forgotten no matter how varying in quality their films were. Can they really be called cameos when they’re actual fully fledged side characters? Minor spoiler, but how come Domino and Cable didn’t show up to Deadpool‘s surprise party? Was there a reference to them I missed or were they just conspicuously absent?
The best praise I can give this movie is that even if Ryan and Hugh never reprise these roles again, I can accept it knowing that this was *that* satisfying of a bookend to these legendary characters. Its THAT good
Honestly it is crazy how this movie somehow manages to be both shallow yet deep at the same time. Its shallow because well, thats how most people expect and perceive Deadpool if they didn't know that he is actually a Sad Clown, so they play into that. Like the opening scene just has Deadpool desecrating the ending of Logan by digging up Logan's decaying corpse and using his adamantium bones as weapons. On the other hand its somewhat deep as it references quite a lot of media from the unsuccessful 20th Century Fox Marvel movies (and even New Line Cinema too). Hell it even let Channing Tatum actual play Gambit after years of it being teased or talked about, then having Chris Evans reprise The Human Torch despite having a much more popular Marvel role now thanks to the MCU. Its basically a Bittersweet Farewell/Obituary to the late 20th Century Fox and It's kinda bittersweet in that regard.
I don't feel like this movie was TRYING to be a Deadpool 3, or have that same semi-serious plot, but rather just a love letter to the FOX movies while being a metacommentary on the current state of the MCU and setting up for more movies down the line, like saying, "HERE ARE THESE TOYS YOU CAN PLAY WITH AND MAKE A BUNCH OF MONEY!"
Damn, maybe I gotta rewatch this movie. It’s so weird being one of the lower voices on an MCU movie for me. I thought this one was…fine. Same way I largely thought the other two movies were…fine. I was shocked to see you (and so many others) praising the action when I honestly found all the fights except for the fight in the forest and the Odyssey fight kinda lacking. I dunno. The Marvels worked a lot better for me on rewatches, so maybe this film will too.
my local theater- $20 for a ticket, the lighted signs at that tells you what's playing in each theater have not been working, for months, they had 10 staff working concessions but everyone was doing their own thing, no delegation of duties to make the lines go faster. it's filthy, and some seats are broken. and the studios are only making remakes and sequels.
I just came back from watching it with my dad. Thanks to RUclips, I'd been Spoiled on a few things, including that twist cameo (I'm assuming you meant the one in the void, not while Wade was looking for a Wolverine) and, while annoyed I wouldn't get the shock of the twist, I was eager for my dad's reaction. Ironically, when I was Spoiled, I figured out the twist as Deadpool hyped it up... which honestly just made it funnier when the twist actually happened. I agree, it's story may not be as good as the other 2 Deadpool movies, but it is SO MUCH fun. I'm optimistically curious to see where things go from here... especially given that Thor and Deadpool scene. If they ever actually address that, I'll be surprised and intrigued.
Yeah, i also had a very fun time watching this film! Especially with the GOAT Hugh Jackman reprising his iconic role as Logan. He abselotely nailed it as always! 👌 And all the cameos inbetween were like the best part of the whole experience, i think.
I work for AMC and deadpool is still getting so many customers. This movie was amazing and the soundtrack is top teir. That opening fight scene makes me run to the theater everytime. I got the popcorn bucket too
my only major complaint is as a pansexual person, deadpool is kind of our mascot, and after a while its tiring seeing his sexuality treated as a joke. his relationship with Vanessa is the emotional motivator for each movie, but when the concept of him liking men is mentioned, it's "HAHA ISNT THE IDEA OF A MAN WANTING TO HAVE SEX WITH ANOTHER MAN SO ABSURD??" that and I wanted more Cassandra. I can't explain it, but she felt under utilized. Other than that this film is so much fun and I'm dying to watch it in theaters again lol
Ryan Reynolds mentioned wanting to give Deadpool a boyfriend during the making of Deadpool 2, but it's likely that Fox (being Fox) shot down the idea. Ironically, Deadpool 2 paired Negasonic and Yukio together and it's treated as a normal and loving relationship (then again, I feel there is more of a bias towards MLM relationships over WLW ones) In the comics, he does have a non-binary partner later on (forgot which issue specifically) and it's not treated as a joke.
Deadpool in the comics has multiple deep, emotional relationships awith men, nd his gf/wife is consistantly "in another castle" by way of another dimension or some other contrivance. This movie is pretty close to those comics thematically. Basically, it pays lip service to being a "buddy film" but the main characters are fruity as fck. So long as there's a woman somewhere at some point and the men don't kiss on the mouth the straights can't fathom it's not about them. Sometimes violence is violence and sometimes it's something else :P

SPOILERS: I actually kinda loved the meta narrative of giving proper endings to characters like Blade and Elektra, whose franchises kinda just fizzled out, as well as giving a chance to shine to Channing Tatum’s Gambit, whose movie never saw the light of day.
Honestly the whole movie felt like a big love letter to the superhero movies made by Fox with the plot literally revolving around saving the X-Men universe from being destroyed, plus that lovely retrospective during the credits.
Yeah that's one of my favorite parts of the movie. For all the faults that the fox movies had it isn't right to completely ignore them as even now some of the movies are still pretty good. And this movie isn't afraid to make fun of those movies as well like that scene with saber tooth was genuinely one of the funniest jabs I've ever seen.
I'm genuinely shocked they let gambit be cool. Given how he was treated during the conversation scene, I expected him to be killed instantly in any fight, but they let him be badass

I'd argue the scene in the Honda Odyssey *is* their becoming buddies moment. Like a subversion of it on purpose. Where Logan lets out all his frustration with Wade, Because all he can do with talking is be snarky rather than express himself honestly, DP declares he's going to fight Wolvy instead. Toward the end of the fight, Deadpool admits that the Honda Odyssey (an old car that's for families, kinda like Logan being a grumpy old guy with a big family himself) slaps. Something about that, plus Wolverine later repeating his line about an "educated wish," feels like the beginning of their real friendship.
That is such a fun reading of that scene I love it

There's definitely a disdain for "Roller Coaster Movies" in the general Cinema circlejerk, but they exist for a reason. Deadpool and Wolverine didn't alter my perspective on life or teach me any valuable lessons, but it gave me a fun day out with my family where we laighed and cheered. That, to me, was more than worth the price of admission.

This is why I have a personal rule to try avoiding any and all promotional material for a movie, ESPECIALLY Superhero movies, once I've decided I'll see it in theaters.
One thing I like about the movie is that Ryan Reynolds went on Turner Classic Movies and said he puts a reference to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in every movie he does. I went into the theater ready to scour the scenes for a reference, and I only had to wait until the opening scene to see the mug.
For me, that was that argument in the car. I saw his hosting of that too, and knowing that, that scene was hitting right like the blowup at Neil to Dale, except he fights it out instead of talks it out, which was so on point. And a little bit of Grosse Point Blank there too.
What an interesting niche
The green car that gets set on fire in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles appears in the Void when Deadpool and Wolverine are walking through a field before Dogpool shows up.
The funny thing about movies in theaters. Is that studios aren’t even thunking of maybe re-releasing classic films in Theaters. Studio Ghibli does a festival nearly every year where they show off their classic films in theaters.
Could you imagine if Disney re-released their classic animated films in theaters for a limited time every year or two. The possibilities for that are endless.
The only other problem with theaters is how expensive they are.
I don't know if it was just a local thing, but in the 1970s in Queens, NY a local theater would show a ton of Disney movies during the summer, so as a kid I got to see the classics as they were designed to be seen.
Regal Cinema occasionally does special single-day showings of certain movies like classic Disney. I got to see the original animated The Lion King in a full, glorious, hi-def theater experience and it is just as fan-fking-tastic as it was back then.

3:26 This is how I felt with Deadpool 2 joke of killing off all of X-Force. We spend a good chunk of time setting them up, and in the future I don't know how well it would work for people who just watch the movie at home, years later. It works because it pulls the rug out from under a deceptive ad campaign that featured them.
It still kinda works anyway, especially with the post-credits scene where Deadpool saves Peter from his fate; he directly calls out X-Force as a marketing ploy by Fox.
@@ghidorah15 He also saved Shatterstar since he's at Deadpool's birthday party at the beginning of the movie, so it's likely he saved all of X-Force, not just Peter and Shatterstar.

I hadn't actually seen Deadpool on the big screen til I saw this one. So it was surreal to experience his 4th wall breaks with a huge audience instead of just by myself on my phone or something

Its for a specific demographic of people, it for people who wanted to see this on a big screen for so long and thats the main goal, to give you everything you ever wanted to see in a Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Its here to give audiences a fun time, not to win some prestigious award for a masterful movie. Its so refreshing to see a movie like this. No more babied, safe moneymakers, it gives us all the vulgar, funny, bloody violence we wanted for so long.

It was honestly heartwarming seeing all the behind-the-scenes and such of all the old 20th Century Fox Marvel movies during the credits. It actually feels like a proper send off to the Fox movies, and treating them with respect and reverence.

Ngl during the whole “Honda odyssey” monologue I literally laughed too hard to be able to keep paying attention, like I literally had to intentionally try and stop myself, like it was one of THOSE. Ironically the best types of laughs are the ones that are forbidden so to speak.

Deadpool & Wolverine have honestly sparked something in me with the MCU, I think I'm ready to let the Avengers era rest and move on to the MCU being heralded by the faces of Marvel from the 2000's, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc.
I'm more charitable with post Endgame material (Still LOVE No Way Home and really like Wakanda Forever) but I can admit that not a lot of it did anything for me, and I can't say it's superhero fatigue (bleh, that phrase) because I am currently hyper fixated on the superheroes of Japan right now.
I'm still gonna follow the MCU for the Mutants, Spidey and FF. But everyone else, I'm either "I don't need anymore" (Ant-Man, Thor) or "I need more time with this"

As a filmmaker I gotta say the whole thing about seeing a movie in a theater is kinda every filmmakers goal. If your film makes it on the big screen its a huge accomplishment.
So yeah of course having that dream all your life of seeing a movie you made on the same big screen you grew up looking at that contributed to making you the person you are only to have your film get shot into a streaming service is gonna be upsetting.

And the hype is pushed by producers who want more money. Sure, but we don’t see him. We see the actors and the crew. All the good people who poured love and care into these movies, even when they sucked. That’s what’s important.
I can just tell that in many decades this period of cinema will be known for franchise sequels and reboots, and bringing back well-liked characters and IPs from before. It'll be really interesting to see how people in the future who weren't around will view it once it becomes old-fashioned, in the same way we discuss movies from the 60s today

I think a lot of the worries about how this movie may not hold up in the future is just kinda light doomerism to be honest. The only Fox era Marvel film I've seen was First Class, and even then I've only seen it once in theaters and barely remember anything from it. Despite that, a lot of the core conflict still struck a chord with me, I still knew of all these characters and movies and that was enough even if I have no actual emotional attachment to them. It helps too that the end credits contextualize what it all means.
Even aside from that, I still think this movie will hold up, much like NWH does for me, cause Wade and Logan's character arcs and dynamic are great, the script is genuinely hilarious, and the action scenes are largely fantastic. This movie has a lot of merit outside of being a celebration/sendoff for the Fox era Marvel films
I agree, I've watched Logan and the X-Men movies, but I didn't know Blade or Electra or Gambit yet I still knew these characters were dropped somehow. I think anyone who engages with general movie culture can understand it sucks when characters or movies are dropped or left out so the conflict should still work without knowing the specifics of certain characters. If anything I just wanted to know what happened with these characters I didn't know. The writing just felt so genuine I didn't care that I didn't really know some of this stuff since the movie isn't about lore, it's about vibes.
Talking so much about cameos I can’t stop thinking about how many cameos they cut(being actors that had failing marvel products) and I find it hilarious
Also literally a cameo from Rob (aka Mac from It's always sunny) being cut made me laugh when seeing it, I didnt really care if that was the only cameo I got spoiled for, I still don't know IF its still in the cut we saw or it may be released separately

I'm almost always so critical of nearly every MCU TV show and movie. And not that the Deadpool movies don't have their flaws, But every time a new one comes out, I always have the best time. And I still enjoy them even at home. Deadpool and wolverine is a movie I've already seen twice and I plan to see it a third time. It's just the kind of delightful, fun buddy action comedy that I didn't know I needed from the superhero movie genre

After watching the Super Duper Cut of Deadpool 2 where you can clearly hear when they added new lines in in a recording booth, I think it's easier to hear if Reynolds is in the suit or not in certain scenes

I’ve seen so much pushback towards this film on Film Twitter. Some of the tweets that are legitimately criticizing this film are valid and fair, as I honestly agree with many of the complaints. But you also have those hyperbolic condescending a-holes that despise this movie and are desperately convincing the fans of this movie that “cinema is dead” because of this film and other bs comments. Deadpool thrives when his parent company is doing poorly- It's a bit of a catch 22. This movie is only so fun because of all the terrible decisions Fox had made in the past. The appearance of Deadpool is kind of a harbinger for the genre
i will say that i've heard a lot of people say their theatres were full of applause during the cameo reveals, and that sure wasn't my experience (at an australian cinema), there was one cameo that everyone loved and then the others were just greeted by silence. I knew who these people were, because I follow marvel youtube channels that have referenced those projects before, but in that quiet cinema i thought "hang on, does anyone besides me even know who these people are?" 😂 it did definitely make the reveal a bit less cool

One thing I noticed you mention is the audience reactions in theature. As someone who lives in Englad (not sure if its the same all across England but still), our theatures are completely silent. Like we never clap or loudly cheer, the loudest it'll ever get is excited whispering and even then its rare because we don’t want to disturb the people around us. Loud theatures are such a strange concept to me
Realized as I was sitting in the theatre that this was the first movie I’ve been to in a theatre since lockdown. And honestly, it was a good one to go back to. I wanted something fun, something that I didn’t have to think too much about. Is it the best Deadpool movie? No. The story could be stronger. But it was FUN. And I needed some fun.
I don’t even care about doubles, the opener will forever be a favorite sequence.
And the credits cutscene didn’t suck, either 😂

I went to go see it opening night it was some of the most fun I have ever had going to see a movie, the theatre was mostly full and EVERYONE was laughing and just having a great time. The energy was just so fun you could tell everyone was also having just as much fun. I don't think I have ever laughed that hard at a movie either, it was incredible.
I honestly didn't care too much about the plot and stakes of this movie (so I didn't dig too deep into possible "plot"-hols or inconsistencies which I'm sure are there)
I mostly enjoyed the hijinks and interactions with the two leads. (finally an actually FUN Marvel movie after who knows how long)
some of the cameos and easter eggs worked better than others, but there were so many of them and they went by so fast that it didn't matter too much if some of them didn't land for me.
Best and most likely last opportunity to have Hugh Jackman do a musical number in character as Wolverine and they beefed it, 0/10.

I think it’s okay to say you enjoyed the movie at this time. Your opinions are allowed to change in the future after rewatched and when time passes, judging a film is like having an experience, there’s the in the moment experience, the few days after, then a couple years later when you remember it. Some films excel at some of those parts but might not hold up in others, and that’s okay.
I personally also enjoyed this movie, but also recognize the flaws it has, and understand I’m still in the early phase where I just experienced the movie so I’m only thinking about the fun parts i enjoyed
The movie was fun plain and simple. Its just something that you either love the style of humour or you hate it. I loved all the cameos even though I haven't seen their movies, even the surprise cameo, because I know how those films affected the superhero movie genre. But I get why some people didn't like it and thats fine too. I just loved this movie
Got to see the midnight screening since i work at an Alamo Drafthouse. Everyone working there showed up, and we all had a blast. One of my coworkers even dressed up as Deadpool and passed us toy knoves to play with.

I saw a comment recently saying that this movie isn't too focused on the lore, but its more focused on entertaining people and i think thats what made me enjoy the movie. Its just a fun superhero movie i really enjoy despite its flaws since i don't even care about them im just happy watching deadpool and wolverine and to me thats okay ❤
This movie was so incredible funny and well written. The fanservice was just *chef's kiss* and even I, who am not a die-hard Marvel fan, was absolutely loving it. Also SPOILER: DISNEY, MAKE A LADYPOOL SPIN-OFF SERIES, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!!!
My local theater just closed down and now any other theater is going to be a 40 plus minute round trip. So I definitely see this as something that will keep me from seeing as many movies as I use to

It's shallow like playing around in the sprinklers during a hot day is shallow. You don't have to constantly swim in something deep during the summer.
Seeing the 20th century Fox logo buried in sand made me sad, because Disney purchased the studio five years ago and made terrible changes, including shutting down blue sky Studios.
Spex I too was the loudest person in my theater I just couldn't contain my laughter and joy xD. As a longtime Marvel True Believer this movie hit me on all the right spots xD

I watched the film on opening day and there was a packed theater. There was so many clapping and laughs in the film and cheers at the end
I think that this was a nice break from the current MCU movies it wasn’t lore heavy and it wasn’t setting up anything crazy it was just super fun and I think the movie experience helped with how much fun it was hearing people laugh and gasp when they got the references was just the best. And even though my brother didn’t get the cameos he turned to ask who they were and he actually got interested in watching the older fox movies overall definitely a great time with an even better tribute to those films

She is intimidating, but besides her connection with Charles Xavier as the sort of "opposite twin", Cassandra Nova felt underdeveloped and generic compared to previous Deadpool villains who have a more personal connection and/or depth to their actions.
Ajax is the one responsible for Wade's mutation and what kickstarts Deadpool's revenge while Russell became evil as a result of abuse and trauma from the orphanage he was raised and became a future villain towards Cable (who time travels because of that).
Cassandra is just "I will destroy the entire multiverse for the lulz" and has zero personal connections to either Deadpool or Wolverine. If anything, Paradox is a better villain since it's him wanting to destroy the X-Men universe that kickstarts the main plot of Deadpool.
You have an interesting perspective on how Deadpool is almost a museum curator for future generations - granting accessibility to how we can remember these shifting zeitgeists
I haven’t been to an actual theater in over a year and despite all these great movies coming out, I haven’t felt inspired to go back. At home, I can pause if I have to go to the bathroom or wanna get a snack. I can rewind a scene when I miss something. I can put on subtitles so I can understand what is being said because modern movie dialogue is either too low or too fast for me to keep up with. The least theaters can do is have subtitles more. Accessibility for all types of movie goers should be considered more in general.
I was thinking the same thing while watching this, I went into the movie knowing it could never be as complex and all out as the second movie with Cable, that movie was just insane. But I also wasn't expecting such a thing. I looked to my sister and said, I could watch Deadpool and Wolverine bickering like this forever, so I didn't even really care much what happened in the movie, I just loved all their interactions so much. It was far from the action packed tension and drama in the second movie, but hey, we can still watch the second movie whenever we want, and I'd also never get tired of this one, so they did a good job in my book. Not all of them can be on the level of part two.
Saw this opening day in Canada with some friends and when wolverine insulted Canada everyone went OOHHHHHHHH

As someone who grew up on the twist cameo, I already saw it coming a mile away but I was no less hyped when it happened.
I'm also a kid of the 2000s Fox Marvel movies, mostly growing up with some of the late X-Men movies, both Fantastic 4s (even tho I have more familiarity to the one cameo that made me squee so hard than the 2010s one) and even the start OF what will become the MCU with the early Iron Man, Thor and Cap movies, it hit home to me seeing this cameos again. And seeing the other cameos from movies I've only seen in passing or maybe once or twice like Blade's trilogy or 03 Daredevil made me smile. And the credits definitely made me tear up, seeing every actor again, even in BTS footage and in clips. I can def look away from the flaws and just see it as a funny love letter to that era of Superhero films, and I wished we got more camp like that nowadays.

Also has a fan of the main X-men cameo that wasnt X23, who has witnessed how production hell his movie was and it never got to see the light of day, it was nice to finally have him on screen. He was the character I never thought I would see on the big screen and most especially played by that actor. And that they actually played him not as a joke, like most people who prolly only heard of him before maybe X-men 97 / any of the video games. I literally almost teared up during that whole fight scene, like holy shit thats my boy !!
There was one scene in the movie that I remember at first just kind of scratching my head trying to figure out why Deadpool had so much knowledge and cared so much about the car. They were driving off in.
It wasn’t until they finally got back to his own timeline that I realized it’s because he’s a car salesman at the beginning.
Also, I don’t think it’s isn’t until the car fight scene, when Deadpool finally gets the staples out of his head.
(no joke every time he took his mask off I noticed the staple and I kept wondering when was he going to find an office or desk any pulls that little alligator mouth tool that remove staples and just plucks them out)
Now if Cassandra Nova was the main antagonist of the new Marvel phase everyone would be happy.
Unironically, yes. I didn't care for her in this movie because I had no time to care about her, her powers, her backstory, etc. But she was interesting.

The fact they actually allowed her to be overpowered as an Omega Level Mutant alone was marvelous, even if to my knowledge the comic book version was still more of a menace

For the past 10 years we have been living in a 80's nostalgia feedback loop. As an older gen Z. I was a kid who has the X-men movies as my first DVD, I saw Fantastic 4 in theaters and I watched Daredevil and Electra an embarrassingly high number of times. I watched the Blade movies as my first movies with vampires.
Yes, this has limited appeals. Yes, they were insecure and goofy. But they walked so Iornman could fly. And that makes them important in the superhero genres and film history. And it's nice to see old friends one final time.

I enjoyed it more than i thought I would considering I managed to miss most of the previous MCA and XMan movies that I apparently needed to watch first.
At the end of the day, this was fun movie and that's what I wanted from this
In the comics, Deadpool teams up with all sorts of Marvel characters (Thor, Spiderman, Wolverine [with all the bickering] etc) and also teams up with Deadpool Corps and goes universe/dimension hopping etc. So even if you've never watched the early Marvel movies, it was loyal to the comics too. If you're a fan of the comics, the cameos are still very nostalgic and relevant to how the comics play out, it's just a movie version of it. But of course even more meaningful if you're a fan of the early Fox marvel movies. I love Deadpool and Wolverine, so much to the point I hope they don't make any more Deadpool movies cuz nothing can top this. It's truly fantastic
It’s so refreshing to go from Crisis Part 3 wiping out beloved cartoons that have nothing to do with the rest of the trilogy for no reason other than thoughtless fanservice to this film where discarded universes fight for their right to continue existing because they still mattered and don’t deserve to be forgotten no matter how varying in quality their films were. Can they really be called cameos when they’re actual fully fledged side characters?
Minor spoiler, but how come Domino and Cable didn’t show up to Deadpool‘s surprise party? Was there a reference to them I missed or were they just conspicuously absent?
The best praise I can give this movie is that even if Ryan and Hugh never reprise these roles again, I can accept it knowing that this was *that* satisfying of a bookend to these legendary characters. Its THAT good
Honestly it is crazy how this movie somehow manages to be both shallow yet deep at the same time.
Its shallow because well, thats how most people expect and perceive Deadpool if they didn't know that he is actually a Sad Clown, so they play into that. Like the opening scene just has Deadpool desecrating the ending of Logan by digging up Logan's decaying corpse and using his adamantium bones as weapons.
On the other hand its somewhat deep as it references quite a lot of media from the unsuccessful 20th Century Fox Marvel movies (and even New Line Cinema too). Hell it even let Channing Tatum actual play Gambit after years of it being teased or talked about, then having Chris Evans reprise The Human Torch despite having a much more popular Marvel role now thanks to the MCU. Its basically a Bittersweet Farewell/Obituary to the late 20th Century Fox and It's kinda bittersweet in that regard.
I don't feel like this movie was TRYING to be a Deadpool 3, or have that same semi-serious plot, but rather just a love letter to the FOX movies while being a metacommentary on the current state of the MCU and setting up for more movies down the line, like saying, "HERE ARE THESE TOYS YOU CAN PLAY WITH AND MAKE A BUNCH OF MONEY!"

I was shocked to see you (and so many others) praising the action when I honestly found all the fights except for the fight in the forest and the Odyssey fight kinda lacking.
I dunno. The Marvels worked a lot better for me on rewatches, so maybe this film will too.
my local theater- $20 for a ticket, the lighted signs at that tells you what's playing in each theater have not been working, for months, they had 10 staff working concessions but everyone was doing their own thing, no delegation of duties to make the lines go faster. it's filthy, and some seats are broken. and the studios are only making remakes and sequels.
I just came back from watching it with my dad.
Thanks to RUclips, I'd been Spoiled on a few things, including that twist cameo (I'm assuming you meant the one in the void, not while Wade was looking for a Wolverine) and, while annoyed I wouldn't get the shock of the twist, I was eager for my dad's reaction.
Ironically, when I was Spoiled, I figured out the twist as Deadpool hyped it up... which honestly just made it funnier when the twist actually happened.
I agree, it's story may not be as good as the other 2 Deadpool movies, but it is SO MUCH fun.
I'm optimistically curious to see where things go from here... especially given that Thor and Deadpool scene.
If they ever actually address that, I'll be surprised and intrigued.
Yeah, i also had a very fun time watching this film! Especially with the GOAT Hugh Jackman reprising his iconic role as Logan. He abselotely nailed it as always! 👌
And all the cameos inbetween were like the best part of the whole experience, i think.
I work for AMC and deadpool is still getting so many customers. This movie was amazing and the soundtrack is top teir. That opening fight scene makes me run to the theater everytime. I got the popcorn bucket too
my only major complaint is as a pansexual person, deadpool is kind of our mascot, and after a while its tiring seeing his sexuality treated as a joke. his relationship with Vanessa is the emotional motivator for each movie, but when the concept of him liking men is mentioned, it's "HAHA ISNT THE IDEA OF A MAN WANTING TO HAVE SEX WITH ANOTHER MAN SO ABSURD??"
that and I wanted more Cassandra. I can't explain it, but she felt under utilized. Other than that this film is so much fun and I'm dying to watch it in theaters again lol
Ryan Reynolds mentioned wanting to give Deadpool a boyfriend during the making of Deadpool 2, but it's likely that Fox (being Fox) shot down the idea. Ironically, Deadpool 2 paired Negasonic and Yukio together and it's treated as a normal and loving relationship (then again, I feel there is more of a bias towards MLM relationships over WLW ones)
In the comics, he does have a non-binary partner later on (forgot which issue specifically) and it's not treated as a joke.
Deadpool in the comics has multiple deep, emotional relationships awith men, nd his gf/wife is consistantly "in another castle" by way of another dimension or some other contrivance. This movie is pretty close to those comics thematically. Basically, it pays lip service to being a "buddy film" but the main characters are fruity as fck. So long as there's a woman somewhere at some point and the men don't kiss on the mouth the straights can't fathom it's not about them. Sometimes violence is violence and sometimes it's something else :P
