He gave a sh*t. That's why he was a great man. RIP Mr. Clark.
Right because none of these teachers now care about the kids. All they care about is a check.
@@niaedmonds3342 Not all of us. Some of us do care. We get overshadowed by the politics of administrators who don't care.
@@MisterB2eternity I agree
@@MisterB2eternity No, most teachers don’t have that kind of spark anymore. To busy fighting school boards for “decent pay” instead of focusing on how to be of service to kids, encouraging healthy development so kids can perform better which can lead to great pay and bonuses. Unfortunately, it’s more about their pay and retirement. Kids can sense when teachers care, we have more school shootings now than we did in Mr. Clarks time and a lot of them get to that point because teachers stop paying attention to change in behaviors. Kids don’t feel like they can go their teachers and express themselves anymore. My own son tells me that his teachers don’t seem to care whether he succeeds or not. He gets overlooked all the time when he needs help with something. It’s hard to find good schools now-a-days. My husband and I are deciding whether to put him in online schooling again or transfer him to another school either way, we are taking him out of his school. Educators like yourself are rare, sad but true.
@@Jace_the_mace Well I care and my kids know it and so are some of my colleagues.
I remember when he rose to fame. So sorry, the world lost such a good man. May he rest in peace.
Very well said !!
He was fearless. It takes a great man, a brave man, to stand up and take action and admit the cops and system has failed so extreme measures are required.
No school like the old school. Fare thee well, Joe Clark.
Very Well Said. Education is nothing like it use to be.
I’m surprised they didn’t lie and say he died of Covid like every other person who has died since this “pandemic”.
@@oforimensah4711 he is not famous enough
Flora Stewart: Exactly!!!
Sorry but thats what these kids of today need they need someone who isn't soft they need someone that knows how use discipline that reaches out to everyone

Right?! Lol
No Jesus in this story 😞
@@sevnlight6313 who was taking about a savior? This man impacted his community in a positive way, inspiring many beyond that building. Respectable. Not sure if the sarcasm was required. Have a great day. Happy New Year!!
God bless, Mr. Clark! He probably would have expelled me toooo! He was a Strong, and Beloved Mentor! I hope the 21st Century will have more Mentor's like him. 👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿📚
I remember seeing the news stories about him. He did something that most school principals did not. He believed in his kids and he actually had to fight for his kids. He was constantly under attack from outsiders. He never wanted to hear that his kids were at a disadvantage.
I think Morgan Freeman portrayed him perfect in lean on me.
He did not care what people thought of him and that is what made him so effective at what he did. Kids want to know that somebody is looking out for them and today we don't have that. Parents are more interested in being friends with their children instead of being a adult.
Very sad may he rest in peace and my blessings to his family.
You’re correct about everything you wrote, BUT your comment re parents wanting to be their child’s “friend” applies exactly ZERO% to me! I consistently & sternly remind our children, “I’m NOT your friend! I’m your mom.”
@@dorisk.4282 you can be both. It’s easy and kids “get it”, not to mention are WAY MORE likely to be “completely” honest with parents.
You are so right Mr. Frank, Thank You for pointing that out.

That was my principal. I was a freshman his first year in Eastside High.
So what did he have against Mozart? Because it wasn't black music?
I wish I could have attended that school.
@@sha11235 he was against it because knowing Mozart isn’t going to help in the real world when getting a job. He wanted to teach his students how to be successful and hard working, not classical music they won’t ever use again.

@@eddilovee Exactly, his policies are banned.
I remember the movie the story the message. Be productive. No more hand me outs. 😳😲😯🎯
"He expelled 300 students for fighting, abusing teachers, and drug possession..."
He'd be fired for that today. (No, not necessarily a good thing. Consequences have all but disappeared.)
Yep. The blacks are not suspendable.
That is why the schools are failing in the USA and the children are not learning anything. Parents, educators, and Principals and higher ups have failed to create a community of learners.
that man was a great man for expelling those people for those things and IDK what is wrong with our school system today
Bullshit i almost got suspended in middle school for making a finger gun at my friend and then in high school for writing down song lyrics. Zero tolerance ruined making a mistake a learning so now no matter what you get the full force of consequences. The consequences for fighting are suspension whether or not you're the victim so kids know they're going to get suspended regardless so they might as well go all out and that's why school fights are deadly these days because whether or not you hold back you getting the worst of the worst
@@oldworldorder9424 nah and both the principles were black one was a minister so discipline was always hard

Social media platforms, demonic television programs and music advocating the murdering of our own people is unfortunately running the show during these times. Sad but true. This is what’s missing in the American School System. Bring it back!
Nope. Clark had a very difficult, and unusual environment at Eastside High School. At a more typical USA High School, there's no need for Administrators to beat drug dealers with baseball bats, or to expel 300 students in 1 week. Context is important.
@@kenc2257 I agree Well for starters schools across the country aren't as lose as they were back then when it wasn't any cameras, no saftey resource officers or no metal detectors & a lot of **Kids** from high crime, high poverty stricken areas ran a muck like they're in the Wild Wild West! Sigh, will have to go on a Joe Clark youtube spree to learn more about this man. May he rest in heavenly peace.
I have never even heard of the man, but? He had me at “Former Drill Sergeant.” Yeah, it’s tough love, as I’ve given my new soldiers... But? The positive results are due to his astounding and excellent perseverance.
This man? Saved, and helped many lives. The world truly needs more people like this. He would have made a great president I think. 😊🇺🇸💯 RIP sir, as a fellow veteran and current leader? I salute you. Thank you.
They made a movie about him, 'Lean On Me', starting Morgan Freeman as Joe Clark. Excellent movie.
WE NEED MORE ADMIN LIKE HIM THAT ACTUALLY CARE. A LOT OF SCHOOLS THAT ARE FAILING IS USUALLY BECAUSE ADMIN SETS THE TONE. MOST ADMINS DONT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS OR TEACHERS. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!
Thank you! I know from experience.
going to work just for a paycheck is not what teachers should be doing!!!! If u r a teacher and that’s the only reason u go to work is for a check not to help kids .... Then we need some laborers at my job . Get on the broom . That way u will make room for people that care !
There's no love like tough love. RIP Mr. Clark...Morgan Freeman did a hell of a job in that role.
I heard him speak at Grambling State University . It was a great speech. Principals scared to look at students nowadays because of kickback from parents
Yup.
He cared about the poor the disenfranchised and those society would deem as throwbacks . Rest in Peace for blessed are those who are peace makers for they shall see God. Thank you . I salute you Mr Clark .

They were literally coming to school to have fun, sex, and hang out.
