I just had a breakthrough about "Brain Points." Often when we call someone "awkward", what we really mean is that they're making too many decisions too quickly. You've seen it- they change where they put their hands every second, etc. It's almost like they've reserved TOO MANY Brain Points for the interaction, ie. they haven't spent them on productive work. Productive workers are often less awkward, because they don't bother second-guessing themselves- in fact, they literally don't have the extra Brain Points to worry about it.

I was always a bright student in school but after 2 years of pandemic sitting at home , I lost all interest in working because of social media . My marks and grades subsequently were going down . Can't describe how much respect I've felt for this man recently. We all know RUclips doesn't like videos over 10 minutes, let alone hour long videos. Yet Hamza has been uploading back to back hour long videos. Just raw emotion knowledge sharing. Hamza is just different from the other sell improvement RUclipsrs. Most of them feel like they're trying to sell me something, or just upload repetitive videos to fulfill their upload quota. I am especially grateful for this video, as this is a topic I've been struggling with recently.
RUclips loves long videos. The more a RUclips video can keep Viewers glued to RUclips the better. The longer the video the better for the RUclipsr. It’s just risky as people are fickle , have short attention spans and don’t often want to sit down to an hour long video.

I'm gonna be honest with ya'll, my life literally sucks now. I've been addicted to social media and porn, my life is just empty, all I have is agitation and hate towards myself for wasting time. I have a big exam tomorrow, had 10 days of preparatory holidays, but I started studying the day before. I might fail, my parents, teachers, relatives and everyone had high expectations for me but I'm sure I'll get low marks. Worst part is I don't know how to get out of this pit.
I tried being productive everyday but my habits just pulled me back into it and at the end of the day I realise that I've wasted 10 hours on the Internet. I would seriously appreciate it if anyone reaches out to help me
many people have been in your place before brother, try and change your surroundings and environment or take some time off and do things that you enjoy or things that change your current mental state. Hey I actually was in a similar situation. I had my exam today for which I had been given 10 preparatory holidays and I was able to just finish the syllabus. My exam went well but this shit fucking bothers me. I am also addicted to social media and porn. But here's the thing, just 3-4 months back I used to watch porn 3 times day if not more and now it's like- once every 2 days. What I've realized from watching hamza is that quitting habits is a slow process. And whatever negative thoughts your mind throws at you, you have to be positive. I've been consistently meditating and Journaling to have a control over my thoughts and I've been hitting the gym to feel good about myself. It's barely been like- 2 months since I've properly gotten into self improvement. This is harsh but it's the truth. You can't quit your habits overnight. It'll take months if not years. If you're watching porn say 40 times a month try to reduce it to 37 maybe 35. And slowly month by month bring it down and replace it by some good habits. Of course you'll fail but how you take that failure is fully dependent on you brother. Hamza has also made a video on this I think that'll help you a lot. I don't remember the name but just search up "my most raw video yet hamza" and I think you'll find it. And bro parents and friends will bring you down even if it's unintentional. You have to tell yourself that you're making slow changes you're making yourself better. Even it's by 0.0001 percent. So don't listen to people's criticism. Try to surround yourself by supportive friends, and go at it slowly. One step at a time. And yea you got this bro.

sometimes I realized some plans I had on my calendar have to adjust because I didn't plan for the unexpected. What do you do when something unexpected comes up and messes up your schedule for the rest of the day?
@@MattGarcyaDC I move things around every day when things come up. Keep in mind the day you scheduled on your calendar is your "ideal day". Keep 1 hour blank everyday, or 2 if your day is more unstable. Also have some tasks everyday that you wouldn't mind skipping or reducing the time you dedicate to them. For example if work stuff comes up and I need 30mins more, I'll just skip 30mins of reading, since is not at the top of my priorities, and something more important came up. So I'll end up reading 30mins instead of 1hour. Also you need to be optimizing your calendar so it's more like your "real day", also having in mind that you still can control most of your day and setting up your "ideal day".
I know it's off-topic, but I'd like a future video about how to keep going when results are not coming. When you've spent months developing skills and creating things and, despite the progress and improvements, you no longer see an ending. You have failed too much, or your environment has pressured you too much, or you can feel the ghosts of the past weighing on you and you want to give up. When it feels like the amount of work you put in doesn't matter, because the results are always gonna be the same and you'll end up burning out anyway.

Takeaways and things I do that you might want to consider: MOST IMPORTANT - MEASURE EVERYTHING! - Procrastiracker for your computer will tell you how you spend your time on it, screen time on apple will do the same for your phone. Track your sleep and everything you can think of, that way you can KNOW whether or not you're progressing instead of thinking you're doing something. 1.) MEAL PREP - Every Sunday I take all my lunch bentos out and mass prepare food for the entire week. You can do this in the middle of the week too if you need to, but then all you have to do is heat up your food and eat, no games. 2.) Do your morning routine in the night - Do as much as you can to prepare for the following day the night prior this makes it so you just grab your clothes and have everything staged in the bathroom to brush your teeth, etc 3.) Take on one new lifestyle change at a time - Atomic Habits is really good with explaining this. you have to make hundreds of conscious decisions to start a new habit, and that will just fatigue you, especially if you try to switch your entire lifestyle around overnight. Change is a process. Instead of going to the gym every day at the start, just drive to the parking lot and go home. or instead of making the decision not to do something, make it one less time than usual. then once you don't even think of "smoking weed on sundays" then make it sunday and monday. soon you will have not done it all 7 days of the week and you will be good to go. my third one may be controversial but so many attempts to change my life have gone up in smoke because the fatigue of trying to juggle an ideal lifestyle with the dozens of habits that come with it gets to me and then I let vices in here and there and end up even worse, or at least back where I started. Take your time and appreciate the experience of what you may consider your sins because you have to know what's bad to know what's good. I didn't manage to be more productive when I tried my hardest to be productive I managed to be productive when I started enjoying life "in the moment" atleast a bit more and worrying less about productivity and efficency, like I MUST do this or else I am useless. Even if that did mean a period of indulgence where I had to "let myself go" , mostly because I burned out completly and the only way to get anything done was to trigger an adrenaline rush and even then it would not work , usually adrenaline rushes made me do stuff but they stopped working , requiring stronger and stronger stimulus to get myself to do the thing (Not only is adrenaline a stimulant, fear also pretty much overcomes the need for discipline because the subconcious understands emotions, hence bypassing the need to overpower it (the subconcious is much stronger, best to not piss against the wind whenever possible) ). Well , now that I do not force myself to do hobbies for the sake of productivity , hobbies are actually more dopaminurgic (and fun) than scrolling so I do those. Thing is... I cannot do hobbies all day or I burnout and can't enjoy them anymore. I need a relatively low-effort brain-dead activity I can do to pass the time until brain recharges so I can do the hobbies. Scrolling/watching youtube seems to do the trick (rarely I even learn something relatively useful but mostly a side effect) *Also "How to Give Your Brain the Stimulation It Needs" by "How to ADHD" is an intresting watch.* I do not have ADHD but watched it because maybe there is an nice takeway considering they likely know more about dopamine related problems than your avg person. Anyways the video talks about the concept of a "dopameniu". (Watch the actual video for a better idea) People [with ADHD] need a lot of stimulation. But the quick and eazy sources of dopamine we turn to are not enough to satisfy that need Either we mindlessly scroll on social media (or a similar bad habit) (not actually enjoyable) Or we press the pleasure button on the same activity so many times that it stops being fun (burnout) *The solution:* The dopameniu. A bunch of predetermined (ideally written down but not necessarily) activities to do when you are low on dopamine (bored). 1) Set up a list of stuff that should be on the meniu (think of the things that make you feel alive and the things you tend to go to when bored that do not make you feel that great) The host of how to adhd sets them up as follows: *Main dish*: Activities that make you feel great , your hobbies , self explanatory *Dessets*: The go to "when I am bored" activties that do not make you feel that great (social media, videogames etc), Fine in small quantities but if all you eat is deserts... not great. *Appetisers*: Quick dopamine burst that won't suck you in. *Sides:* Things you can add on to other activties *Specials:* Things you can't do often but you also like. 2) Prepare Pretty much "remove friction from the stuff on the meniu". The main activities are your main focus considering the desserts tend to be lubricated enough , perhaps too lubricated (add some friction). Set up your enviroment/desk in such a way that there is as little friction as possible between you and the activity. (pretty much what Atomic Habits has to say on it) If nothing brings you joy it may be depression (that or burnout because you did the same shit over and over again and the pleasure button stopped working (don't push it, do something else, wait for it to recharge) )

Thats one thing you must do to practice self accountability and awareness of yourself as a whole. Be aware of when your going off track and do good things to counter that. Once you get into a habit and break that barrier, its easy. The first couple days will feel like shit but you must keep going. *** NEVER GIVE UP! ***

I realized that studying while fasting and also, setting a timer (Studying: 30 mins Break: 5 mins) was literally the key to staying focused and actually learning. This is coming from someone who always struggled with studying, would get distracted etc. Meditation probably helped a lot as well. Try those things out bros, they really work
Ramadan's coming up, I'd like to see what you think about that lifestyle and productivity. Personally i saw my productivity skyrocket 10x. I may not have gained any muscle but my body is detoxed from not having all that food from the day (due to dry fasting) and instead I consume spiritual nourishment throughout the day, reading extra like Quran, prayer, charity, reflections etc. After the first few days of Ramadan (my body is adjusting to the lifestyle) i feel more energized. Its only until the last 1-2 hours that i feel the hunger and by then my body is already going through a process of autophagy. I recommend that even if you are not religious, to try dry fasting for atleast week (of course dont do this if you have serious medical conditions and consult your doctor or nutrition specialist). Our bodies need a detox, especially from our current unnatural lifestyles.
In this time and age, when people lack of role-model and purpose; Alhamdulillah we have a perfect role-model and a great, never ending purpose of trying our best to become as perfect muslim as we can.
I think one of the key things ive been missing is a community of like minded individuals, people who have similar goals/visions of growth so we can keep eachother accountable. If you surround yourself around people who all have the desire and ambition to grow, its inevitable that rubs off on you :)

Ive been on a bit of a downward spiral since the end of last summer, as I got complacent and thought everything was fixed forever. This video was uploaded right as I was contemplating between work or procrastination and its made me realise that I've been reversing all of these positive changes that I had made in my life due to laziness and its time to get a grip again. Hi guys, I've already created a timetable. Instead of adding breaks, I used an idea, I developed myself. I use three colours: grey, light grey and white. Grey means that I have to do it (like morning routine, first and last meal, evening routine). Light grey means that I have to try to do it, but I can swap them out for things, that I would consider to be very important (for example I don't have to go to uni every single time if I have an important date then). I use white for extra work and fillers (like work in the household). I put in more of these, so I still get my stuff done, but I allow myself to do breaks, while being in one of those white time slots. I hope, my comment is helpful in any way. In your timetable, I'd suggest you to schedule a day to watch timeblocking videos in order to get some ideas from them. I did that and man, my timetable looks great! btw, here a tip of mine, only change your timetable once per week.

I use to always watch your videos and put together these time tables and stuff and fall out the loop not even realizing I had adhd so it was harder for me to focus. I’m finally getting treated soon and can’t wait to implement the stuff you taught me while using meds and hopefully behavioral therapy in the future
@@narayasuiryoku1397 then you use the wrong ones, pick wisely which meds to choose. If possible test different medication types e.g slow release or fast release types. Trust me when I say this, adhd meds have transformed me to a level of higher being. But it does take time to get used to them. Remember, adhd meds are stimulants, therefore their main purpose is to speed up and slow down neuron activity in parts of the brain which we adhd'ers have struggles with. So doe please give it a second chance
@@arampa9300 ADHD isn't even a problem to begin with. We aren't supposed to spend 7 hours a day seating down straight not moving, and learning about something we don't care about, so it's normal that kind of stuff happens. Idk how severe yours is, but I think that Adhd is generally not a problem if you do something you're passionate about and actually like. If it still is, your case might be more severe, in which case, meds can be useful. But I'd recommend you get your bloodwork done if possible, because adhd meds mess up with that.

I just had a breakthrough about "Brain Points." Often when we call someone "awkward", what we really mean is that they're making too many decisions too quickly. You've seen it- they change where they put their hands every second, etc. It's almost like they've reserved TOO MANY Brain Points for the interaction, ie. they haven't spent them on productive work.
Productive workers are often less awkward, because they don't bother second-guessing themselves- in fact, they literally don't have the extra Brain Points to worry about it.

Can't describe how much respect I've felt for this man recently. We all know RUclips doesn't like videos over 10 minutes, let alone hour long videos. Yet Hamza has been uploading back to back hour long videos. Just raw emotion knowledge sharing. Hamza is just different from the other sell improvement RUclipsrs. Most of them feel like they're trying to sell me something, or just upload repetitive videos to fulfill their upload quota.

I'm gonna be honest with ya'll, my life literally sucks now. I've been addicted to social media and porn, my life is just empty, all I have is agitation and hate towards myself for wasting time. I have a big exam tomorrow, had 10 days of preparatory holidays, but I started studying the day before. I might fail, my parents, teachers, relatives and everyone had high expectations for me but I'm sure I'll get low marks. Worst part is I don't know how to get out of this pit.
I tried being productive everyday but my habits just pulled me back into it and at the end of the day I realise that I've wasted 10 hours on the Internet.

To quit everything that is bad all at once is almost impossible. Remember self improvement is like building muscle, it takes a long time to reach where u want to be.
Hey I actually was in a similar situation. I had my exam today for which I had been given 10 preparatory holidays and I was able to just finish the syllabus.
My exam went well but this shit fucking bothers me.
I am also addicted to social media and porn.
But here's the thing, just 3-4 months back I used to watch porn 3 times day if not more and now it's like- once every 2 days. What I've realized from watching hamza is that quitting habits is a slow process. And whatever negative thoughts your mind throws at you, you have to be positive. I've been consistently meditating and Journaling to have a control over my thoughts and I've been hitting the gym to feel good about myself. It's barely been like- 2 months since I've properly gotten into self improvement.
This is harsh but it's the truth. You can't quit your habits overnight. It'll take months if not years.
If you're watching porn say 40 times a month try to reduce it to 37 maybe 35.
And slowly month by month bring it down and replace it by some good habits.
Of course you'll fail but how you take that failure is fully dependent on you brother.
Hamza has also made a video on this I think that'll help you a lot.
I don't remember the name but just search up "my most raw video yet hamza" and I think you'll find it.
And bro parents and friends will bring you down even if it's unintentional. You have to tell yourself that you're making slow changes you're making yourself better. Even it's by 0.0001 percent.
So don't listen to people's criticism. Try to surround yourself by supportive friends, and go at it slowly. One step at a time.

Been using the calendar for 3-4 years, exactly the same way you've explained, it's the best thing I ever did for my productivity
sometimes I realized some plans I had on my calendar have to adjust because I didn't plan for the unexpected. What do you do when something unexpected comes up and messes up your schedule for the rest of the day?
@@MattGarcyaDC I move things around every day when things come up. Keep in mind the day you scheduled on your calendar is your "ideal day".
Keep 1 hour blank everyday, or 2 if your day is more unstable. Also have some tasks everyday that you wouldn't mind skipping or reducing the time you dedicate to them. For example if work stuff comes up and I need 30mins more, I'll just skip 30mins of reading, since is not at the top of my priorities, and something more important came up. So I'll end up reading 30mins instead of 1hour.
Also you need to be optimizing your calendar so it's more like your "real day", also having in mind that you still can control most of your day and setting up your "ideal day".

I know it's off-topic, but I'd like a future video about how to keep going when results are not coming. When you've spent months developing skills and creating things and, despite the progress and improvements, you no longer see an ending. You have failed too much, or your environment has pressured you too much, or you can feel the ghosts of the past weighing on you and you want to give up. When it feels like the amount of work you put in doesn't matter, because the results are always gonna be the same and you'll end up burning out anyway.

Takeaways and things I do that you might want to consider:
MOST IMPORTANT - MEASURE EVERYTHING! - Procrastiracker for your computer will tell you how you spend your time on it, screen time on apple will do the same for your phone. Track your sleep and everything you can think of, that way you can KNOW whether or not you're progressing instead of thinking you're doing something.
1.) MEAL PREP - Every Sunday I take all my lunch bentos out and mass prepare food for the entire week. You can do this in the middle of the week too if you need to, but then all you have to do is heat up your food and eat, no games.
2.) Do your morning routine in the night - Do as much as you can to prepare for the following day the night prior this makes it so you just grab your clothes and have everything staged in the bathroom to brush your teeth, etc
3.) Take on one new lifestyle change at a time - Atomic Habits is really good with explaining this. you have to make hundreds of conscious decisions to start a new habit, and that will just fatigue you, especially if you try to switch your entire lifestyle around overnight. Change is a process. Instead of going to the gym every day at the start, just drive to the parking lot and go home. or instead of making the decision not to do something, make it one less time than usual. then once you don't even think of "smoking weed on sundays" then make it sunday and monday. soon you will have not done it all 7 days of the week and you will be good to go.
my third one may be controversial but so many attempts to change my life have gone up in smoke because the fatigue of trying to juggle an ideal lifestyle with the dozens of habits that come with it gets to me and then I let vices in here and there and end up even worse, or at least back where I started. Take your time and appreciate the experience of what you may consider your sins because you have to know what's bad to know what's good. Good luck everyone whos trying to better themselves, We have chosen a noble path.

I didn't manage to be more productive when I tried my hardest to be productive
I managed to be productive when I started enjoying life "in the moment" atleast a bit more and worrying less about productivity and efficency, like I MUST do this or else I am useless.
Even if that did mean a period of indulgence where I had to "let myself go" , mostly because I burned out completly and the only way to get anything done was to trigger an adrenaline rush and even then it would not work , usually adrenaline rushes made me do stuff but they stopped working , requiring stronger and stronger stimulus to get myself to do the thing (Not only is adrenaline a stimulant, fear also pretty much overcomes the need for discipline because the subconcious understands emotions, hence bypassing the need to overpower it (the subconcious is much stronger, best to not piss against the wind whenever possible) ).
Well , now that I do not force myself to do hobbies for the sake of productivity , hobbies are actually more dopaminurgic (and fun) than scrolling so I do those.
Thing is... I cannot do hobbies all day or I burnout and can't enjoy them anymore. I need a relatively low-effort brain-dead activity I can do to pass the time until brain recharges so I can do the hobbies. Scrolling/watching youtube seems to do the trick (rarely I even learn something relatively useful but mostly a side effect)
*Also "How to Give Your Brain the Stimulation It Needs" by "How to ADHD" is an intresting watch.* I do not have ADHD but watched it because maybe there is an nice takeway considering they likely know more about dopamine related problems than your avg person.
Anyways the video talks about the concept of a "dopameniu". (Watch the actual video for a better idea)
People [with ADHD] need a lot of stimulation.
But the quick and eazy sources of dopamine we turn to are not enough to satisfy that need
Either we mindlessly scroll on social media (or a similar bad habit) (not actually enjoyable)
Or we press the pleasure button on the same activity so many times that it stops being fun (burnout)
*The solution:*
The dopameniu.
A bunch of predetermined (ideally written down but not necessarily) activities to do when you are low on dopamine (bored).
1) Set up a list of stuff that should be on the meniu (think of the things that make you feel alive and the things you tend to go to when bored that do not make you feel that great)
The host of how to adhd sets them up as follows:
*Main dish*: Activities that make you feel great , your hobbies , self explanatory
*Dessets*: The go to "when I am bored" activties that do not make you feel that great (social media, videogames etc), Fine in small quantities but if all you eat is deserts... not great.
*Appetisers*: Quick dopamine burst that won't suck you in.
*Sides:* Things you can add on to other activties
*Specials:* Things you can't do often but you also like.
2) Prepare
Pretty much "remove friction from the stuff on the meniu". The main activities are your main focus considering the desserts tend to be lubricated enough , perhaps too lubricated (add some friction). Set up your enviroment/desk in such a way that there is as little friction as possible between you and the activity. (pretty much what Atomic Habits has to say on it)
If nothing brings you joy it may be depression (that or burnout because you did the same shit over and over again and the pleasure button stopped working (don't push it, do something else, wait for it to recharge) )

I realized that studying while fasting and also, setting a timer (Studying: 30 mins Break: 5 mins) was literally the key to staying focused and actually learning. This is coming from someone who always struggled with studying, would get distracted etc. Meditation probably helped a lot as well. Try those things out bros, they really work

I may not have gained any muscle but my body is detoxed from not having all that food from the day (due to dry fasting) and instead I consume spiritual nourishment throughout the day, reading extra like Quran, prayer, charity, reflections etc. After the first few days of Ramadan (my body is adjusting to the lifestyle) i feel more energized. Its only until the last 1-2 hours that i feel the hunger and by then my body is already going through a process of autophagy. I recommend that even if you are not religious, to try dry fasting for atleast week (of course dont do this if you have serious medical conditions and consult your doctor or nutrition specialist). Our bodies need a detox, especially from our current unnatural lifestyles.
In this time and age, when people lack of role-model and purpose; Alhamdulillah we have a perfect role-model and a great, never ending purpose of trying our best to become as perfect muslim as we can.
I’ve given up on Islam if I’m going to be religious I’d rather be Christian.

I think one of the key things ive been missing is a community of like minded individuals, people who have similar goals/visions of growth so we can keep eachother accountable. If you surround yourself around people who all have the desire and ambition to grow, its inevitable that rubs off on you :)

Ive been on a bit of a downward spiral since the end of last summer, as I got complacent and thought everything was fixed forever. This video was uploaded right as I was contemplating between work or procrastination and its made me realise that I've been reversing all of these positive changes that I had made in my life due to laziness and its time to get a grip again. Hi guys,
I've already created a timetable.
Instead of adding breaks, I used an idea, I developed myself.
I use three colours: grey, light grey and white.
Grey means that I have to do it (like morning routine, first and last meal, evening routine).
Light grey means that I have to try to do it, but I can swap them out for things, that I would consider to be very important (for example I don't have to go to uni every single time if I have an important date then).
I use white for extra work and fillers (like work in the household). I put in more of these, so I still get my stuff done, but I allow myself to do breaks, while being in one of those white time slots.

I use to always watch your videos and put together these time tables and stuff and fall out the loop not even realizing I had adhd so it was harder for me to focus. I’m finally getting treated soon and can’t wait to implement the stuff you taught me while using meds and hopefully behavioral therapy in the future

@@narayasuiryoku1397 then you use the wrong ones, pick wisely which meds to choose. If possible test different medication types e.g slow release or fast release types. Trust me when I say this, adhd meds have transformed me to a level of higher being. But it does take time to get used to them. Remember, adhd meds are stimulants, therefore their main purpose is to speed up and slow down neuron activity in parts of the brain which we adhd'ers have struggles with. So doe please give it a second chance

@@arampa9300 ADHD isn't even a problem to begin with. We aren't supposed to spend 7 hours a day seating down straight not moving, and learning about something we don't care about, so it's normal that kind of stuff happens. Idk how severe yours is, but I think that Adhd is generally not a problem if you do something you're passionate about and actually like. If it still is, your case might be more severe, in which case, meds can be useful. But I'd recommend you get your bloodwork done if possible, because adhd meds mess up with that.
