I’m a bag in bag girl. I like a smaller cross body or clutch that is big enough to hold essentials like wallet and phone, but small enough to fit inside my tote with all the rest of my “stuff”. That way, I can travel to work with my tote; and when I leave the office for lunch I can pull out my smaller bag and leave the rest of the “stuff” at my desk. When I’m out and about, I can leave my tote in my car,and run into the mall or store with just the lighter bag and bare essentials.
I just bought 2 crochet totes, 2 phone slings, and 3 Italian leather bags. I change bag with different outfits. I prefer to hold a handbag with elbow, wrist, or hands. It won’t put weight on one shoulder to wreck pelvic alignment. It also forces me to not carry too much stuff. The new totes and leather bags all have top handles that is shallow, not able to go on shoulder. I think women look quite elegant carrying a bag by hand or elbow.
I use a tote bag for everyday work/ weekdays - color is cognac. For weekends/ errands, I use a smaller crossbody bag - color is nutmeg (or thereabouts). The bags in the Portland leather site look very nice! My former work bag was in a dark purple color (purple was popular that year & I was in my purple phase). Recently, I found out that I'm an "autumn" and bought some new tops to reflect that. The purple bag doesn't match my mostly autumn colors, so I bought the brown (cognac?) bag. I'm happy with my new bags - not from Portland Leather but they suit me. Cheers!
Great job explaining how to choose a “bag.” You really put a lot of thought and care into this video. I have been debating on buying a tote for fall/winter and finally purchased it after watching this video. Thank you so much.
I have 3 of the small tote cross body bags and I love them. I'm petite and they fit me perfectly. I rotate between my black and "football" brown as I call it. I also have a beautiful light green I use in the summer. I highly recommend Portland Leather.
So glad you are working with Portland Leather Goods. I stumbled across their showroom on a neighborhood walk in Portland several years ago and was mesmerized. The bags are gorgeous!
I keep the same bag from day to day; I use one bag until it dies, lol. Then I replace it. But I work from home and don't have an extremely busy social life that requires a lot. My life is mostly errands when leaving the house. LOL! When a social event does arrive, I really should have a couple nice options to choose from, now that I am paying more attention to fashion and what I wear.
My Mulberry Bayswater is definitely my forever bag👍😊👜 but I also love my leather tote that I got from Marshall’s. It just gets more beautiful the more I use it😊
Love PLG! While they are definitely ethically made (or as ethical as leather can be-it's not a particularly sustainable industry overall), the bags are manufactured in Mexico, not the USA
Perfect timing for me! I’m in the market for a new bag or two but haven’t seen much around here that appealed to me. Definitely going for the tote. Thanks yet again, Nada!❤️
love Portland leather! Got the mystery box and I must admit, I have kept a few items behind and just smell them when I've had a bad day....i know, weird but it really does make me smile because I spoiled myself with these leather pieces and they make me feel like I can be nice to myself every once in a while. Now I have to think about how they look on me. lol!
Love the idea of a beltbag as a crossbody. The one thing that was a problem for me was the shoulder straps on most of the bags had rivets to fold the leather to the rings instead of sewn neatly.. Somehow that always catches my eye. Have to chck the baguette immidiately for strap attachement cause loved it
I like to have 4 seasons of handbags because I get bored with just one. Winter handbag is black/brown/navy, a little bigger to hold gloves or mittens and possibly small Christmas presents. 😊 summer handbag is cream/ecru/light tan coloured, smaller and usually crossbody And fall and spring are in between sized, in fun colours. Oh and an evening bag for very bare essentials (credit card, comb, lipstick and event ticket) or my inherited ‘mother-in-law’s’ patent leather envelop handbag which is so chic and timeless.
I prefer smaller bags most of the time and I have quite a few! I reach for my black and pink ones the most. None of them are expensive. I love purses and shoes, had to cut down as no room to store them. Will check out Portland.
Nada.. I was hoping to see a variety of different bags on this video. I have many and in different styles, colors and textures. I recently bought the Cold Brew from Portland leather. Love it ..and that fabulous leather smell. I do like to change my bags to work with the clothes shoes and places I'm going. I went to a children's choir in semi rural Texas last week.. white pants and a navy small floral blouse. I chose to wear tan loafers ( color was in the print of the blouse) and just happened to have a cute vegan medium size bad that matched the shoes. A black or brown bag would ot work. I also have navy bags.. one DB crossbody, a satchel and a larger tote. I wish I knew what to do with my older leather hobo style bags because I now reach for the smaller satchels. Also do you know if nylon bags ( mid range designer) can be worn all year ( 4 seasons) . I have a Longchamp crossbody, Dooney & Bourke crossbody and a Brahmin tote. Thank you!
How do you do a cross body if you are a large woman - like the shape of Octavia Spencer but 5'9" (hourglass from the front but look pregnant from the side)? I watched your other video about bag sizing and you mentioned that if you're larger that you need a larger bag which to me doesn't work as a cross body.....also where should a cross body bag fall with this same body shape/size? Honestly most cross bodies straps are way to short to go over a large bust and tummy. Based on your suggestions about bag sizing it seems that I would be limited to extra large totes only that hits at the hip area so as to not point to my hourglass figure waist. Would LOVE a video on how to style bags for plus size!!
You remind me so much of my cousin Christina Bianco. You should look her up she does work on Broadway and the UK. She's a singer who also impersonates other singers like Cher, Streisand, Garland, Minelli etc. She's really popular with the gays. LOL
I keep the same bag during the day and like you I change up for an evening out! I loved this!

LOVE THIS and TOTALLY agree with your strategy!
The Hawthorne backpack bag is DIVINE! My hands are free and all my stuff fits!

I love that envelope-flap rectangular bag look!! Very nice and modern looking.
This was great!!! Thank you so much!!
I have two bags one that I always carry and then one that I use for gym/quick errands/travel.

Yay! That is so good to hear! I’m glad you love them like I do. Abs yes there are so many petite friendly options! Thanks for the comment!

They are the sweetest company to work with, and their quality is amazing

Is Dakota still a neutral color? Perhaps, I should go for the grizzly color, triangle bag... Great video!!!
Yes it is a neutral! And thank you!

I have a mystery box coming and I can’t wait to see it! I’m so glad you spoiled yourself. I’m sure they all look great.

Hey Nada. Great video. I went straight to Portland Leather and took care of Mother’s Day gift. Thanks for recommending 😊
Awesome! So glad you loved it too! The Mother’s Day sale is pretty amazing

Storage is ALWAYS the issue for us collectors! LOL.

Love my new Portland crossbody bag in Nutmeg
I change my bag if im taking the bus or a car. I need a medium size bag that i can tuck my gloves and hat in the winter when i board the bus.
Thanks Nada really enjoyed listening about bags. I am 67 and my hair is blondey/grey natural what colour bag should I invest in please? Thanks
Tan honey fog or cognac would be great for you! Glad you enjoyed the video. You could also do black or blue.
Thanks Nada
Just got a Tommy Hilfiger retail over $110 at Ross for $25. Not leather, but great classic shoulder bag for Spring/Summer.

I'm changing out my bag from day to evening if I'm going on a date to a special event.
Beautiful bags just wish more with outside pocket for phones and such
Both of the bags that I ordered have outside pockets. The Toaster and the Classic Tote. I hope that helps!
Wouldn’t we all like to have the money back that we have spent on cheap bags over the years!😅
Love these bags! What size was the tote you were modeling?
It’s the oversized bag! I wanted to use it as a carry-on when I’m traveling and I love it
Made in Mexico now.

Oh my goodness thank you! What a compliment. Now I’m just going to pretend I can sing. I’m going to look her up now!
extremely useful video
Just got a Portland crossbody in Nutmeg and I love it.
