Very important to Plan for Retirement BUT also, take out time NOW to enjoy yourself periodically. You'll never know when the owner of your soul comes calling ! We calculate incomes and make projections based on variable multiple incomes over a Fixed Time (1yr, 2 yrs, 5 yrs, 10yrs e.t.c) Forgetting that TIME is the "REAL VARIABLE" for us all.

You are spot on Philip. However, they must not actually be mutually exclusive. A declaration of faith is not necessarily the absence of ability or willingness to work. But it is good to remind ourselves like you have done that there is still the aspect of responsibility.

Consider tweaking this as a reminder to yourself that nothing changes in this realm except we also follow through by taking MASSIVE action - “As I educate myself and apply what I have learned with the guidance of a trusted mentor, my sources of income shall flow, as I put in the work and reinvest what flows into my hands, my incomes shall increase, my rivers shall enlarge”

Without a doubt, this year will be worse than the last. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of bad investment choices that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. This year has been great so far. God has definitely simplified wealth for me. If you steward what you have well, you will do well. As your savings and investments grow, you will naturally become more mindful of every dollar. A few rules I live by now…
1. I am only a steward of the money. It belongs to God. So, I am quick to obey when God says give. (Outside of regular tithes and offerings.)
2. If I can’t afford three, then I can’t afford it.
3. If there is no money coming in, then there is no money going out.
4. I only use credit if I’m able to repay it immediately. (Just for the purpose of building a positive credit history.)
5. I am intentional about building a savings and investment portfolio.
