So if you ever wondered why Johnny Knoxville‘s character just disappears from the movie and has no wrapup, it’s because in the original ending Agent J and Agent K battled aliens atop the World Trade Center, where Knoxville‘s character and a bunch of other aliens we’re trying to escape the planet… but then 9/11 happened and they had to re-film the ending and they just couldn’t find a place for him, which is sad for multiple reasons.
@@JasonON It happened more than you think. They had to redo the Lilo and Stitch ending for the same reason. Instead of the spaceships weaving through mountains, Lilo and the gang hijacked a 747 to chase after Gantu. They even flew through a commercial district as well. They had to restructure the plane to look like a spaceship.
@@StopReadingMyNameOrElse Then there was the scene in one of the Spiderman movies where Spiderman was chilling in a web spun between the Twin Towers...
This is definitely one of those cases where the sum of it's parts is greater than the whole. As a movie overall it fails to catch the same glow that the first one had, but on the scene to scene basis it's still a somehow enjoyable ride.
Lots of good stuff in the movie but at the same time, it's kind of dead on the inside. Three makes up for it wonderfully (TEN years later!), but by then the damage had already been done to the franchise.
Barry Sonnenfeld, the director, went though a lot of issues with the studio and producers on this movie over changes they demanded, and had a heart attack on set. He said that when he was carried away in an ambulance he was thinking to himself something like "It would be terrible to die right now, but at least it would be great to not have to deal with this movie anymore."
Fun fact. The guy who goes down on the ground in the post office is in charge of the visual effects in this movie... And many other big movies, cool guy. The director was looking around set for a strange looking guy to be an alien and saw him and told him to go to costumes dept to get ready.
will smith and the alien at the post office were beatboxing ( which is what rappers on the east coast mainly new york would do in the 80's) biz markie who played the beatboxing alien was a hip hop legend and his 1989 hit "just a friend" is 1 of the greatest 100 hip hop tracks ever

28:05 a bit before that Tommy Lee Jones said to Ashoka that "she is as beautiful as her mother". Not the words one would say to a random girl, eh? This movie looks better than I remember it. Need to re-watch.
MIB 1 is amazing, it really got people into the Alien spirit and made a convincing argument of alien existence and how NYC is the best place for aliens to integrate among the human population. MIB 2 made weird choices to backtrack Jay's character progression as soon a Kay showed up and instead of showing even crazier mind-effing revelations, they just went back to weird aliens secretly inhabiting NYC and a pretty mediocre planetary annihilation threat, which is a typical Tuesday in MIB land, the weird aliens hidden in NYC are still interesting, but not new anymore. Especially when X-Men also came out in-between these movies. MIB 3 steps it up and makes up for MIB2 MIB: The Series was actually pretty good for a 90's tv spin-off, between MIB 1 and 2, that basically continued the MIB alien encounters with Jay and Kay as if Kay never left.
I was soooo upset they separated K with his wife. He got a happy end in the last movie and it would be funny and interesting to see him juggle returning to MIB and marriage. Or maybe a drama of having to leave her again. But NOOOOO, Hollywood does not do functional marriages.
I was upset that the whole trilogy makes K some kind of horndog. In MiB, he had his wife; in 2, he had Princess Laurana; and in 3, he's all flirty with Agent O. Like...seriously?
Lol there IS in fact an MIB ride/experience at Universal Studios, or at least there used to be. Idk if it's still open, but the queue line goes through MIB headquarters and everything and waiting in line is an experience in and of itself. The ride consists of going through a training simulator in a car with five other people while you shoot aliens in a few different environments. It's cool as hell. Last time I did it was like almost 20 years ago now when I was around 13 or 14. The ride had literally just opened at Universal Orlando like a week or two earlier.
I’ve only been abroad twice in my whole life and I remember that! We went there from the UK in the year 2000, one of the best times in my whole life. I remember because everyone had a gun there were so many lasers everywhere and I didn’t know which one was mine or where I was aiming lol
Barry Sonnenfeld, the director, does a cameo in this movie. He is the father sitting on the couch when the Men in Black go to the apartment to get weapons. When Barry saw himself he asked the computer guys to fill in the bald top of his head with hair. They refused, saying it would cost $10,000 more. The studio refused to pay. MIB 3 is great and the ending has a phenomenal twist. J & K go back farther than you ever imagined!
22:04 Colombe Jacobsen, she was Julie "The Cat" Gaffney in The Mighty Ducks 2 and 3. She is now a chef and was on the 2007 season of The Next Food Network Star
That girl you thought you recognize from the video store you probably thought was Natalie Portman. It's actually Colombe Jacobsen-Derstine. She plays Julie "The Cat" in D2 the Mighty Ducks
29:00 the alternate version of the ending has J sent on a vacation, winding up on the planet from the train locker, but cos he travelled there “manually” he was the same size as the aliens, turned to see Knsmiling down and closing the door
I can't wait to see your reaction to the third movie! I love that one so much, it has the charm you felt was missing from this one. I think you'll enjoy it more than the 2nd

I’m soooo looking forward to you watching MIB 3. One of the best movies ever. All the sci fi fun of the first two but a story and characters that will melt your heart.
Nice reactions to Men in Black 2, Vicky!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I agree, the plot could have been better with this film, but I did enjoy the performances in this one. I think they did their best with what they were given. Bringing back Tommy Lee Jones was also a big plus for the film.
Awesome reaction video. If you loved this Men in Black and Men in Black 2, you'd loved Men in Black 3, maybe Men in Black International and the 90s Men in Black cartoon. Men in Black 2, Men in Black 3, and Men in Black International are the only ones I saw in Theaters.
I remember being in the theater watching MIB2 and I have to say that I had a great time laughing at the jokes, cheering when Michael Jackson showed up for that cameo, and overall having a fun ride with my whole family. However, you pretty much summed up a lot of what we felt about this movie afterwards. Great reaction over all! Looking back, I think what the problem was it feels more like a parody of the original then a sequel (a darn good parody but a parody none the less). MIB2 had its faults, but I feel it was the funniest of the first three films and there was nothing inherently bad about the movie other than maybe overriding Jay and Kay's character development from the original and that Serleena, the main villain, loses her presence as a villain towards the end. She's a threat and a good one but the movie doesn't convey the same menace that the bug had in the original. I do find myself rewatching the movie every now and then and though it's not a hidden masterpiece for me, it's still an enjoyable movie. For me, none of the MIB sequels perfectly captured the all around feeling of the first MIB, though MIB3 was a massive return to form and if not as perfect as the original, it's still an extremely close second. I do hope you'll give MIB3 a watch as it's a good send off to Agents Jay and Kay.
What I think is remarkable about this movie is that the little locker aliens came up with a set of religious tenets that is at least as good as (if not better than) any real religion and it came from a VHS rental card. Really puts things into perspective.
First of all- I just found your channel and have been binging your videos, I love your reactions so far and I can't wait for you to check out more Movies/Shows in the future! when you're thinking about watching a movie don't listen to other people or look up reviews. other people's taste, likes, and dislikes don't define you as an individual on your own taste, likes, and dislikes. if I'd listen to every person that said "that movie sucked" I wouldn't have ever seen so many awesome movies.
This movie suffered because the Third Act had to be rewritten on the fly. The original ending took place at the World Trade Towers. Filming was ongoing when 911 happened. So, they had to improvise. Not their fault. Although . . . what IS their fault: Pizza, anyone? Whatever IS it code for? Don't cry fantasy there. I've been deep inside Hollywood. Years ago. I liked it. As you say, not as fun as the original, but some of the B plot devices (J zapping everyone in sight) were enjoyable. #3 may change your mind.

Mib 2 original plot ending have a battle/persecution flying between twin towers, but u know? after 9-11, so that explains in part the lack of spectacularity, this movie is from 2003
J and Ks dynamic make the movie. of course it's not as good as the first but that's ok because it's still a fun watch. never expect sequels to be better than the original especially if the original is a classic
I thought this movie was solid, not as good as the first, but a decent sequel and it has a good amount of scenes I'll re-watch for the laughs when it's on streaming(the love angle, not so much). Now part 3, I thought was terrible, but looking at some of the comments here, I may be in the minority on that one, as several seem to have liked it. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
This one is different, I quite like it, but it is not the same as the first one. I think the third one is quite similar, maybe bit more polished but it is not the first one either:) Still worth watching.
MIB 2 is a perfectly fine movie.. its just not as good as the other 2, and well bellow the first... the 3rd is an excellent book end and equal in quality to the 1st, and in some ways even better in my own opinion. My biggest issue with MIB 2, is the fact that if I let my hair grow, and have 3 or more bad nights sleep... I look like the spitting image of Jarra (the ozone stealing alien), im not kidding. Not easy watching something that reminds one of that.
a lot of people do not like mib ii as much as the first one, I actually like it even better than the first one. much crazier monsters, nonstop action, interesting lore additions, cool one liners and jokes, frank is a great sidekick, so are the worms , the story is a little eh, but I can look over that when the rest just works.
You should definitely watch Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid! :) A great classic with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. It's always considered the first buddy movie, because the leads have fantastic chemistry together and they're so funny.
😬 I'd probably dial the sales pitch of that one back just a touch. It's cool that everyone has their favourites, and I'd agree that the chemistry between the leads is fun and the best part of the film (maybe apart from one iconic scene in particular and that damned song that will never leave your head for weeks after seeing it). But I am not sure that it holds up quite as well, certainly not for modern audiences, as fans might imagine. Much like Easy rider it is recognized as a classic and in some ways notable movie, but is actually a bit of a scattalogical snoozefest firmly of its time. 🤷🏼♂️ Maybe she'll love it.
@@chriskelly3481 I just re-watched the movie and amazingly it holds up pretty well considering it was made in 1969. I just thought I'd recommend it in case she wants to watch more classic/iconic movies and because she liked 'blazing saddles' for example, I thought she could love this one :) The leads alone make it worth watching.
I would have liked this better if they either never erased K's memory last movie or if they didn't need K back this movie there is a RUclips video of the dog singing that full song. 3rd one has its fans. 4th one isn't well liked but it has its moments. there was a cartoon series as well
To quote Rick Sanchez " All I know is Men in Black 2 was a joyless cash grab." - They did do better with 3, but you really can't go wrong when Thanos is in your movie. Also another controversial movie starring Johny Knocksvile which would be fun to react too is The Dukes of Hazard.

3rd one is my favorite.
“Joey, do you like movies about gladiators.?”
" Flush me K! Flush me! I be like nah..."
Mood lighting? Glamasaurus wrecked out. Is it Prom night?
This one is different, I quite like it, but it is not the same as the first one. I think the third one is quite similar, maybe bit more polished but it is not the first one either:) Still worth watching.
Will you do the 3rd? That one is really good
“And I be like nah” Idk why this is so funny to me 😂
MIB 2 is a perfectly fine movie.. its just not as good as the other 2, and well bellow the first... the 3rd is an excellent book end and equal in quality to the 1st, and in some ways even better in my own opinion.
My biggest issue with MIB 2, is the fact that if I let my hair grow, and have 3 or more bad nights sleep... I look like the spitting image of Jarra (the ozone stealing alien), im not kidding. Not easy watching something that reminds one of that.
28:46 how u put them rats in my locker 🤣
MIB 1 and 3 are good. MIB 2 I tend to forget exists.
a lot of people do not like mib ii as much as the first one, I actually like it even better than the first one. much crazier monsters, nonstop action, interesting lore additions, cool one liners and jokes, frank is a great sidekick, so are the worms , the story is a little eh, but I can look over that when the rest just works.
Apparently, the woman from the video store is now a famous TV chef
MiB 3 I think was pretty good. Didn't watch the movie after that one.
MIB 3 was pretty much the last semi decent movie that Will Smith did
You should definitely watch Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid!
Who else wants to see VKunia do a video for the 1932 classic, "Freaks"?
I love both the first two MIB movies. First one is better but the second one I'd definitely not bad.
A good movie based on a true story about Alien abduction is Fire in the Sky. Great movie.
I would have liked this better if they either never erased K's memory last movie or if they didn't need K back this movie
there is a RUclips video of the dog singing that full song.
25:00 I had that game but was never able to finish it. I remember him though, he had a name like Krew or something
